3 2 External Learning Tool Setup The following steps will guide you through the setup process for Evolve Link on Brightspace by D2L. 1. Log into your Brightspace system as an Administrator. 2. Click the to open the Admin menu. 3. In the Admin menu, select External Learning Tools. 4. Click Manage Tool Providers. 5. Select New Tool Provider. 6. Input the following information into the form that appears: Launch Point: authgateway.elsevier.com Secret: [Enter Elsevier provided secret here] Tool consumer information: Check box to use custom tool consumer information. Key: [Enter key here] Name: Evolve Link Visibility: Check to allow users to use this tool provider Send tool consumer information to tool provider: Selected Send context information to tool provider: Selected Send user ID to tool provider: Selected Send user name to tool provider: Selected

4 3 Send user to tool provider: Selected Send link title to tool provider: Selected Send link description to tool provider: Selected Make tool provider available to: Current Org Unit: Use the check box and Add Org Units button to make the tool provider available to the desired organizational units on your system. 7. Click Save and Close at the bottom of the page. 8. Now select Manage External Learning Tool Links, and then click New Link. 9. On the next page, enter the following information into the fields. Title: Evolve Link URL: Allow users to view this link: Selected Sign messages with key/secret with: Selected Tool Consumer Key/Secret: Selected Use tool provider security settings: Selected Make link available to: Current Org Unit: Use the check box and Add Org Units button to make the tool provider available to the desired organizational units on your system. 10. Click Save and Close at the bottom of the page.

5 4 Adding Evolve Link to a Brightspace Course Once Evolve Link has been added as an External Learning Tool, it will then need to be added to courses/course templates to be available for use. 1. Navigate to your desired course on Brightspace. 2. Select Content on the course navigation bar. 3. Choose the External Activities drop down, and select External Learning Tools. 4. Select Evolve Link from the list. 5. Now click the next to the newly placed link, and choose Edit Properties In-Place. 6. Click the checkbox next to Open as External Resource, and then use the F5 key to refresh the page.

6 5 Outcomes (Grade Reporting) Setup In order to receive outcomes/grade reporting from some Elsevier products, it is necessary to follow the steps below. 1. Login to your Brightspace system as an Administrator. 2. Click on the Gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select Manage Extensibility. 3. Click on the Register an App link. 4. Enter: a. Application Name: Elsevier b. Trusted URL: c. Enabled this application: Checked d. Accept the non-commercial developer agreement: Checked 5. Click the Register Application button. 6. This will generate the Application ID (App ID) and Application Key (App Key) needed for API authorization. 7. Setting up User Key. 8. Navigate to

7 6 9. Enter: a. Host: unicon.d2l-partners.brightspace.com b. Port: 443 c. App ID: From Step 6 d. App Key: From Step Click the Authenticate Button. a. This will redirect you to your D2L instance. Sign into D2L with your Admin account. After sign in you will be redirected back to the API test tool. 11. The User ID and User Key will be present on the form. 12. Send these 4 values and your LMS URL to Elsevier via Hightail. a. Paste information to a text or Word document and save the file locally. b. Visit c. Click the SIGN IN button. d. Select the DON T HAVE AN ACCOUNT? SIGN UP option and create a free account.

8 7 e. Once you are signed in click the + CREATE NEW button at the top of the screen and select the Send option. f. Send to: integration.support@elsevier.com g.
