1 In this Recipe you will use the ImageBlender Storybook Maker to create a storybook from a folder of images. You will learn how to add a folder of images, change the order of pages in the storybook, add a background, add controllers, add text, add sound, and preview your story All Rights Reserved. 3 Page 3 of 34 Introduction To open ImageBlender, click the ImageBlender icon on the Dock. You will see the Welcome to ImageBlender dialog. Click the Storybook Maker button. If you are already using ImageBlender, click the Storybook Maker button on the toolbar. You will see the Welcome to the Storybook Maker dialog.
4 Page 4 of 34 Add a Folder of Images Click the Create from folder of images button. You will see the Please select a folder dialog.
5 Page 5 of 34 Find the folder you want to use for your storybook. This example uses the My Images folder that comes with ImageBlender. Click the Choose button. You will see each image in the folder as a page in your storybook.
6 Page 6 of 34 Change the Order of Pages You can change the order of pages in your storybook. Click the page that you want to move.
7 Page 7 of 34 Click and drag the page to the place in the story that you want it to show. You will see a large cursor where the page will be moved. Release the mouse button. You will see the page in the new place in the storybook.
8 Page 8 of 34 Click and drag other pages that you want to move in your storybook. Move pages until they are in the order that you want them to show. Save a Storybook Now is a good time to save the story. Click the Save Story button on the toolbar. You will see the Save Story dialog. Type a name for the story in the Save As field. Use the Where pull-down menu to choose a place to save your story.
9 Page 9 of 34 Click the Save button. Your story will be saved.
10 Page 10 of 34 Add Text to a Page You can add text to a page in the storybook. Double-click a page.
11 Page 11 of 34 You will see the page in the Page tab. Click the text box. Type the text you want to add.
12 Page 12 of 34 Format Text You can change how text looks on a page. Click and drag the cursor to select the text you want to change. Release the mouse button. The text will be selected.
13 Page 13 of 34 Use the Font pull-down menu to choose a font for the text. Use the Font Size pull-down menu to choose a size for the text. Click a style button to make the text bold, italic, or underlined. Click an alignment button to align the text to the left, to the center, to the right, or to justify the text with both margins. Click the Font Color button to change the text color. You will see the Text Color dialog. Click a color on the Color Picker to change the text color.
14 Page 14 of 34 Click the OK button. The text will show the changes. Click the Storybook tab.
15 Page 15 of 34 Use the skills you have learned to add and format text on other pages of the storybook. Check Spelling You can check for spelling errors on pages in your storybook. Double-click the page that contains the text that you want to spell check. You will see the page in the Page tab.
16 Page 16 of 34 Click the Spell Check button on the text field toolbar. If there are no misspelled words, you will see the Spell Check Complete dialog.
17 Page 17 of 34 Click the OK button. If there are words the Spell Check does not know, you will see the Spell Checking dialog. You will see the questioned word in the Unknown Word Field. You will see suggested words in the Suggestions field. Click the Ignore button if the word is spelled correctly. If you see the correct word in the list, click it.
18 Page 18 of 34 Click the Replace button. When there are no more misspelled words, you will see the Spell Check Complete dialog. Click the OK button. Use the Navigation buttons on the Page tab to move to the other pages in the story.
19 Page 19 of 34 Check the spelling for the text on each page of your story. Click the Save button on the toolbar. Change the Background Color You can add a background to a page. Double-click a page to view it in the Page tab. Click the Background button on the Page tab. You will see the Background Color dialog. Choose a background color by clicking a color on the Color Picker.
20 Page 20 of 34 Click the Apply to All button to apply the background to every page in the storybook. You will see the new background color on the page.
21 Page 21 of 34 Add a Controller You can add controllers to pages in your storybook. The viewer can use these controls to move through the storybook. Click the Controller button on the Page tab. You will see the Controllers dialog.

23 Page 23 of 34 Click the Apply to All button to add the controller to all of the pages in your storybook. Click the Save Story button on the toolbar. Click the Storybook tab to continue working on the storybook. Add Text-to-Speech You can use text-to-speech to have the computer read the text on a page in your
24 Page 24 of 34 storybook. Double-click a page that contains text. You will see the page in the Page tab. Click the Sound button on the Page tab. You will see the Sounds dialog. Click the Text to Speech check box.
25 Page 25 of 34 Click the OK button. The computer will read the text when you preview the story or page in a Web browser. Change the Layout of a Page You can change the layout of pages in the story. Double-click the page you want to change.
26 Page 26 of 34 You will see the page in the Page tab. Click the Page Properties button on the toolbar. You will see the Page Properties dialog.
27 Page 27 of 34 Click an Alignment button for the page layout you want to use. Click the OK button to change the layout for the current page. You will see the new layout for your page.
28 Page 28 of 34 Click the Storybook tab. Use the skills you have learned to change the layout of other pages in your storybook. Add a Text Page You can add text pages to your story. This is an easy way to create a title page. Click the Add Text Page button on the Storybook tab.
29 Page 29 of 34 You will see the text page added as the last page of your storybook. Double-click the new text page. You will see the text page in the Page tab. Use the skills you have learned to add and format the text for the title page.
30 Page 30 of 34 Click the Storybook tab. Click and drag the title page to the beginning of your story. Click the Save Story button on the toolbar. View the Storybook
31 Page 31 of 34 You can view your storybook in a Web browser. Select the first page of your story. Click the View Story button on the toolbar. A Web browser will open. You will see the first page of the storybook.
32 Page 32 of 34 Click the controller to go to the next page. When you are finished previewing your storybook, go to the application menu and choose Quit. You can view your story later or post it on a Web page so that others can see it in a Web browser. Make any final changes to the storybook. Click the Save Story button on the toolbar.
33 Page 33 of 34 Close the Storybook Maker by clicking the Close Storybook button on the toolbar. View Storybook Files Open the folder that contains your storybook. You will see your story, a backup copy of your story, a media folder for your story, and the HTML file for the story. You can view the story in a Web browser by double-clicking the HTML file. You can edit your storybook by opening the.xml file in the ImageBlender Storybook maker.
