5 Introduction to "" 1 Overview is a component from MindSphere, the industrial IoT platform from Siemens. enables you to analyze, visualize and monitor your assets. In the context of MindSphere, assets are digital representations of installations or economic goods in an industrial process. You create assets in Asset Manager. You can find additional information on creating and configuring your assets in the Asset Manager documentation ( Asset Manager configures the data structure and the data connection of the assets. The asset data is structured in what are referred to as "aspects". Aspects can contain several variables of different data types. Aspects are combined, pre-configured data and form the context for the evaluation of industrial processes. Asset Manager defines the aspects that are provided by the asset. uses the assets and aspects defined in the Asset Manager for its functions. offers you the following functions: Management, monitoring and representation of assets distributed worldwide Visualization of relevant information on an overview page Creation of rules for monitoring assets The functions are included in the individual extensions of the. 11 Asset navigation Introduction to asset navigation You select assets using the asset navigation. You have the option of changing the navigation view. Asset navigation offers you the following options: Searching, filtering and sorting of assets Selecting assets using the map Adding assets to Favorites View of asset navigation You can choose between the list view or the hierarchy view in the asset navigation: View List Hierarchy Description Shows all the assets at the same level Shows the assets, e.g. in the following structure: Customer Area, e.g. hall plan Asset The map view gives you an overview of the locations or hierarchy structure of your assets. To open the map, click on in the respective view. Filter and sort function If you do not know the name of the asset, you can reduce the number of assets displayed using the filter and sort function. You limit the search results further with multiple filters. To categorize assets on the basis of their status, use the "Status" filter function. Search function If you know the name of the asset, use the search function. With the search function you have the option of entering the following meta information of the assets as a filter: Name of asset Asset type Customer Address System Manual,, V1801.K

Develop a concept for the structuring and administration of your assets. This enables you to locate your assets more quickly using the search field. The following figure shows the list map view: Edit position Map overview Zoom function Use the zoom function to analyze areas in more detail. Each zoom level combines closely spaced assets into a group. The map displays the selected asset as a pin. The map pin displays the number of assets in the respective area. Shows the "Warning" asset status. Shows the "Error" asset status. The map view also takes into consideration search parameters entered and activated filters. The map hides assets which do not match the search parameters Hierarchy view The hierarchy map view displays the assets in different levels within the hierarchy structure. The map view shows the Area and Customer hierarchy objects as rectangles. In the hierarchy map view, you identify and structure your assets using set-up images or plans. 16 Asset navigation 4.3 Asset status 4.3 Asset status You can view the asset status in the asset navigation. The asset navigation takes on the color of the asset status with the current highest severity level. In the hierarchy view, the level shows the highest severity level of the lower-level assets in color. You can automatically influence the asset status with a rule. Each brewery has multiple filling lines that are set up as an asset. You want to locate an asset but you don't know its address. You have the following information: The asset is located in Karlsruhe. The asset has "Warning" status. You have previously selected the asset a while ago. 16 System Manual,, V1801.K0214

17 Asset navigation 4.4 Search and select assets Objective The asset navigation is to display the following assets: Assets located in Karlsruhe. Assets that have the "Warning" status. Assets that you have selected recently Procedure To quickly locate an asset, follow these steps: 1. Enter an asset parameter in the search field, e.g. Karlsruhe, and confirm the entry. 2. Click the "Filter & Sort" button. 3. Click the filter category "Status". 4. To activate the "Warning" filter, click. 5. Click the filter category "Show". 6. To activate the "Last used" filter, click "Last used". 7. Close the "Filter & Sort" menu 8. To hide the filters, click. Result The asset navigation displays the asset that corresponds to the search parameters, e.g. Karlsruhe, "Warning" status and "Last used". 18 Asset navigation 4.5 Using a map 4.5 Using a map Example scenario A brewery in Munich has created a new "Filling line 1" asset. The exact geo-coordinates have not yet been entered in Asset Manager. Objective The asset is to be moved to the correct position with the help of the map. Note Geo position Only the geo position changes when the asset is moved. The address of the asset does not change. 18 System Manual,, V1801.K0214

19 Asset navigation 4.5 Using a map Procedure To move an asset on the map, follow these steps: 1. Enter an asset parameter in the search field, e.g. Munich, and confirm the entry. 2. Use the zoom function to find the exact position of the asset. 3. Click on the asset on the map. 4. Click. 5. Move the asset to the desired position. Note Moving an asset from a group To move an asset from a group, you must select the asset within the group. You can then move it using drag-and-drop. 6. Click to confirm the position. 22 Using extensions 5.2 Visualizing asset data with the "Aspects" extension 5.2 Visualizing asset data with the "Aspects" extension Introduction to visualizing data enables you to visualize aspects in the "Aspects" extension. Definition of aspects Aspects are combined, pre-configured data and form the context for the evaluation of industrial processes. An aspect can consist of several variables. Within the industry process, assets transfer the aspects as time-series data into MindSphere. The aspect parameters are configured in Asset Manager. You can find additional information on creating and configuring your aspects in the documentation of the Asset Manager ( Aspects form the basis for analysis and evaluation of complex industrial processes. Visualizing aspects The "Aspects" extension evaluates the aspects of an asset and visualizes them with a line graph. Within the graph, you can show or hide individual variables of the aspect. In the chart view, you can use time-series data with a minimum time resolution of 1 second. Aspects data types The "Aspects" extension supports the data types from the configuration in the Asset Manager for the visualization of the variables. The variables of the Aspects are displayed in the chart view as line diagrams or in the table view as numerical values. Daylight saving is taken into account. Shifts the start of the time range to the current date and time. The time range uses the predefined time interval. The values are updated every minute. Opens the calendar for exact selection of the date and time. Opens or minimizes the graph of the "Aspects" extension. Resets the zoom. Selects the unit for displaying the variables in the graph. You define the unit of variables in the Asset Manager. Opens the menu for creating a manual event. Opens the table view. You can only select the table view for specific aspects data types. Calendar You can access the calendar by clicking Shows the selected start date of the visualization. Defines the time interval for the time range. Shows the selected end date of the visualization. 25 Using extensions 5.2 Visualizing asset data with the "Aspects" extension Using graphs Overview The "Aspects" extension visualizes the pre-defined aspects of the selected asset within a coordinate system. The line chart offers the following aids for analysis and display: Showing data values (Page 25) Showing and hiding variables (Page 25) Setting the time period (Page 26) Zoom function (Page 25) Showing data values To show the data values in the graph, move the mouse pointer over the lines in the graph. The vertical gray line shows the exact time on the time axis. The exact time stamp appears at the top edge of the graph Showing and hiding variables To show or hide a variable in the graph, click on the variable below the graph Using the zoom function You have the possibility to analyze the graph with the zoom function. You can activate the zoom function by pressing the <Ctrl> key. Use the mouse wheel to zoom into and out of the graphs. To use the zoom function on touch devices, you must use two fingers to zoom in on the graph. To zoom out, you need to pinch both fingers together. System Manual,, V1801.K

You can divide the time period in the calendar into the following sections: Manually: The start and end date define the interval for the time period Day Week Month Quarter Year You can move the time period of the graph to the right or left using drag-and-drop Analyzing graphs Example scenario A brewery has 3 filling lines. One filling line has failed at regular intervals for a while. The operator suspects that the filling line is overheating. Objective The temperature trend of the filling line is to be checked. The analysis of the graph is to provide information on the cause and time period of the overheating. Requirement The filling line is set up as an asset. The aspects of the filling line are set up and defined. Procedure To analyze the graph, follow these steps: 1. Select an asset, e.g. "Filling line". 2. Click on the "Aspects" extension. 3. Select an aspect you want to visualize, e.g. "Temperature". 4. Select the dates from the last week in the calendar. 5. For more information on creating manual events, see section Introduction to events (Page 27). 5.3 Monitoring assets with the "Events" extension Introduction to events Definition of events You log measured values at a certain time with events. You have the option of logging conspicuous measuring points in the graph with an event. The recording with events serves the subsequent analysis and monitoring of your asset. Newly created events are assigned the "New" status. Confirmed events get the "Confirmed" status. Confirmed events are no longer shown in the graph in the "Aspects" extension. The following table shows the parameters that you can enter when creating a manual event: Parameter Description Severity Description Describes the manual event and its meaning. Defines the following event severity levels using the menu: Error Warning Information Time stamp Measurement point Specifies the exact time for the event: Format: Date, hours, minutes Chooses the variable of the aspect to which the event applies. Creating automatic events You can create automatic events using a rule. You create rules in the "Rules" extension. For more information on rules, see section Automatically monitoring assets with the "Rules" extension (Page 33) Documenting events with manual events Example scenario A brewery has analyzed its filling line and identified an excess operating temperature. 30 System Manual,, V1801.K0214

Requirement The filling line is created as an asset. The asset is open in the "Aspects" extension. Procedure To create a manual event, follow these steps: 1. Use the graph to analyze the noticeable increase of the measured value. 2. Click. 3. Enter the parameters for the creation of the manual event. 4. Click the "Create" button. Result You have documented the event with the help of an event Confirm events Example scenario A brewery in Munich has several different bottling plants. The temperature of the drive for a bottling plant briefly exceeded 75 C. The excess temperature was documented with an event. Objective The employee responsible should confirm that he or she has taken note of the event. Requirement A manual event with the "Warning" severity level was created. Procedure To confirm an event, follow these steps: 1. Click on the asset with the event in the map. 2. Open the "Events" extension. System Manual,, V1801.K

Result The employee responsible has taken note of the warning from the bottling plant and confirmed the selected event. 5.4 Use the "Info" extension to display asset details Introduction to the "Info" extension has the "Info" extension for displaying the details of your assets. "Info" extension The "Info" extension enables you to fetch information and properties for your assets. The extension displays the data of the selected asset in an overview. Your assets are configured in Asset Manager. You can find additional information on creating and configuring your assets in the Asset Manager documentation ( 32 System Manual,, V1801.K0214

A rule automatically triggers events. The rule detects the overshooting or undershooting of a defined threshold value. The rule automatically logs each deviation with an event. After creation, the rule retroactively analyzes the data of a time buffer of 3 hours. This following graphic illustrates an example of the threshold value of a rule as a red line in the graph: Deactivating rules You have the option of temporarily deactivating rules. You can reactivate a rule which has been deactivated. Changing the asset status with rules You can use a rule to change the asset status. The status of an asset is indicated with color in the asset navigation. You can create multiple rules by changing the asset status for an asset. The rule query supports you in creating a new rule and entering the individual parameters. You can create a maximum of 200 rules per asset. You can activate a maximum of 100 rules per asset at the same time. Parameter overview of rule query The following table describes the parameters for defining rules: Parameter Value Meaning Tag Defined variable within an aspect. Defines the variable within an aspect for which the rule is created. Condition greater than less than greater than or equal to less than or equal to equal not equal changes Input of digits The digit range depends on the selected tag. Defines the trigger of the rule based on the limit violation of the threshold value. Actions limitations Additional condition: None Limiting of the number of actions over time Hysteresis Limits the number of events for a particular time period. The hysteresis suppresses the triggering of further events in the event of a short-term overshooting or undershooting of a threshold value. Severity Error Warning Information Corresponds to the severity of the events. For more information on the severity of events, see section Events. Description Additional actions Name of rule Text input. A maximum of 200 characters may be used. Add action: Set asset status Send an Text input. A maximum of 256 characters may be used. Enables you to enter a description. Describes the action that is to follow the violation of the rule. You can select the asset status that is set when the rule is violated. Asset navigation takes on the asset status color of the rule violation that has the highest severity level. Following a rule violation, an is automatically sent to the specified address. If the rule query screen does not display the "Set asset status" selection under "Additional actions", this may have the following causes: Assets created in Asset Manager are not "BasicDevice" asset types. The Asset Manager's own generated assets do not inherit from "Basic Device" Using rules Example scenario A brewery has detected a manual event for the excess temperature of the drive of a filling line. You have determined that this case has occurred again. Objective The repeat occurrence of excess temperature is to automatically generate events. The event at 70 C should have the "Information" severity level and send an . Procedure Proceed as follows to create a new rule: 1. Select the asset in the asset navigation. 2. Open the "Rules" extension. 3. Click "Create". 4. Follow the instructions of the rule configuration. Define the conditions for the rule, e.g. "Excess temperature at 70 C". Define the severity of the event, e.g. "Information". Select an asset status that is to be activated when the rule is violated, e.g. "Information". Enter an address to which notification of the status is to be sent. Result The rule automatically generates an event as soon as the temperature exceeds 70 C. At the same time, an is sent to the address entered and the asset is given the "Information" status. System Manual,, V1801.K

38 Using extensions 5.6 Export asset data with the "Export" extension 5.6 Export asset data with the "Export" extension Introduction to exporting data "Export" extension You have the option of exporting the aspects of your assets from MindSphere. The time period for data export is limited to 90 days. The "Export" extension offers you the following functions: Selection of the desired time period for exporting the aspects Saving the exported data to a CSV or JSON file Exporting data Procedure To export data with the "Export" extension, follow these steps: 1. Select the time period. 2. Select an aspect. 3. Click "Export CSV" or "Export JSON". 4. Select the storage location. Result You download the file to your local PC. 38 System Manual,, V1801.K0214

Files are imported using the "Files" extension. The "Files" extension provides you with a secure way to save or open files from any device with access to MindSphere.
