3 1 Before installation 1 Before installation This manual explains how to setting up PC, hot to install software or precautions when using scanner on Window 8/10. However, each contents of previous OS and Windows 8/10 are explained in only a part varying in contents so please refer to the Installtion Manual described details about the same contents. 1.1 Precautions and Restrictions For Windows 8 The following edition can be used. Windows8 Pro 64-bit version (Japanese and English) IMPORTANT 32-bit version is not supportedon Windows 8. Only Administrator Authority can be used. Use the User Account Control in OFF. You can use this function only when Windows 8 is newly installed. You cannot use Windows 8 upgraded from the previous version of OS. If using PC supporting a touch panel, only the usual operation by just touching is possible. However, the special operation such as swipe, flick and pinch cannot be performed on Windows 8. When you match the mouse cursor to the icon of maintenance application shown on a taskbar, and right-click it to display Close Window. PS2 port (for mouse and keyboard) One USB 2.0 port Video port Resolution: supporting 1024 x 768 pixels Color: supporting 32-bit true color Video memory: 256 MB or more Resolution: pixels or more Color: supporting 32-bit true color Color temperature: supporting 6500 K Windows Operations There is few differences on the Windows 8 from the past OS in an operation by Windows. This chapter explains few operations necessary for using this product. 1

4 1 Before installation! Starting up Application 1. If there is a desired application on Start display, click it. S If there is no desired application on Start display, right -click on Start display to show All applications so click it. The list of application is shown so click the desired application.! Display Computer display and access the folder or the file in the PC. 1. Right-click the coner of left bottom on the display and select Explorer on the menu. S The Computer display is shown. S

5 1 Before installation 2. Access the desired folder or file in the C drive or CR-ROM.! Excutes the desired exe.file. 1. Right-click the left bottom of the display and select Run on the menu. S The Run display appears. 2. Click Browse to select the desired exe.file. S S

6 1 Before installation! How to display Control Panel Right-click the coner of the left bottom on the display and select Control Panel on the menu. The Control Panel display is shown. S For Windows 10 The following edition can be used. Windows10 Pro 64-bit version (Japanese and English) IMPORTANT 32-bit version is not supported. You can use either administrator permission or user permission. Use the maintenance application with the setting User Account Control Off. You can use this function only when Windows 10 is newly installed. When upgrading to Windows10 from a previous OS, uninstall the Scanner application. Then upgrading to Windows10, please install the Scanner application. When upgrading to Windows10 without uninstalling the Scanner application, operation can not be guaranteed. If using PC supporting a touch panel, only the usual operation tby just touching is possible. However, the special operation such as swipe, flick and pinch cannot be performed. Recommended specification for personal computer in the case of the Stand-Alone Scanner is the same as the case of Windows8. Windows Operations There are few differences in an operation between Windows 10 and the previous OS. This chapter explains few operations necessary for using this product.! Starting up Application 1. Click the Start button on the desktop bottom left of the screen, and select the All apps from the menu on the left that has been displayed. Start button S

Click the Start button on the desktop bottom left of the screen, and select the File Explorer from the menu. S Start button Explorer display is shown. 2. Click PC on the left of screen. 9 2 Setting up the operation PC 2 Setting up the operation PC This operation is not necessary if the EZ Controller is installed on the PC. 2.1 Setup List The following settings are required to setup the PC on the Windows 8/10. There are no color setting and theme setting of Windows on Windows8/10. For Widows 8 There are few points varying in the display of the screen slightly. However the setting method is same as Windows 7. For details, refer to Configuring monitor display in Installation Manual. For Windows10 1. Right click on the Desktop display, the click Display Settings. Display screen is shown. 2. Confirm that the slide bar of Change the size of text, apps,and other items:100%(recommended) setting is set to the left as possible. S

10 2 Setting up the operation PC 3. Click Advanced display settings. ADVANCED DISPLAY SETTINGS screen is shown. S Configure the Resolution, then click OK. Configure the screen resolution as shown below. Screen resolution Match the resolution to the recommended resolution of the monitor. IMPORTANT Confirm the recommended resolution in the Operator's Manual of the monitor. Example: If the recommended number of pixels is : 1024 by 768 pixels If the recommended number of pixels is : 1280 by 1024 pixels S Closing the screen. This completes the monitor display setting. 2.3 Configuring power options On Windows8 and 10, there are few points varying in the display of the screen slightly. However the setting method is same. 1. Access the Power Options display. Bringing up the display Control Panel Power Options 8

11 2 Setting up the operation PC 2. Click Show additional plans to select High Performance, and click Change plan settings. Show additional plans button The Edit Plan Settings display is shown. S Click Change advanced power settings. S Configure the following settings as shown below. The items vary depending on the operation PC model. S

Click OK. 6. Select Never for Turn off the display and click Save changes. S Close the Power Options display. This completes the procedure to configure the power options. 2.4 Configuring the virtual memory Setting procedure There are few points varying in the display of the screen slightly. However the setting method is same as Windows 7. For details, refer to Configuring the virtual memory in Installation Manual. 2.5 Configuring the Transfer Mode Setting procedure There are few points varying in the display of the screen slightly. However the setting method is same as Windows 7. For details, refer to Configuring the transfer mode in Installation Manual. 2.6 Turning off Autoplay of media drives Setting procedure There are few points varying in the display of the screen slightly. However the setting method is same as Windows 7. For details, refer to Turning off Autoplay of media drives in Installation Manual. 2.7 Configuring the taskbar On Windows8 and 10, there are few points varying in the display of the screen slightly. However the setting method is same. 10

13 2 Setting up the operation PC 1. Right-click on the taskbar at the bottom of the display and select Properties. The Taskbar Properties display is shown. 2. Select the following items. Lock the taskbar Auto-hide the taskbar There is no specification for other settings. 3. Close the display. This completes the procedure to configure the taskbar settings. 2.8 Turning off the hotkey function (shortcut key function) on the resident application If there are hotkey functions (shortcut key functions) in the resident application (icon shown in the right of taskbar), turning off the function is required. Hotkey (shortcut key) is a function to operate the frequently-used function with the key operation of keyboard instead of clicking the function on the display. If the hotkey function (shortcut key function) of the resident application is on, the shortcut key function settings configured on the EZ Controller may not be used. Confirm the resident application setting, turn off the function if there is a mode for switching the hotkey function (shortcut key function) on or off. If there is no mode for switching the hotkey function (shortcut key function), there is no need to configure. IMPORTANT Releasing the resident is not required. 2.9 Configuring User Account Control S On Windows8 and 10, there are few points varying in the display of the screen slightly. However the setting method is same. 1. Configuring the User Account Control setting. (1) Displays the Change User Account Control settings. 14 2 Setting up the operation PC (2) Move the slider to the bottom (Never notify), and click OK. (3) When the confirmation display is shown, click Yes. S For Windows8 Configuring Local group policy editor. So please proceed to step 2. For Windows10 This completes the procedure to configure the User Account Control setting. 2. Configuring Local group policy editor.(only for Windows8) (1) Right-click the left bottom of the display and select Specify a file name and Run on the menu. (2) Enter gpedit.msc and click OK. The Local Group Policy Editor display is shown. S

15 2 Setting up the operation PC (3) Select Computer Configuration Windows Settings Security Settings Local Policies Security Options on the left side of the display, and double-click User Account Control : Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode on the right side of the display. (4) Select Disable on the Local Security Settingtab and click OK. S (5) Restart the PC. S Confirm that User Account Control is set to OFF.(Only for Windows8) (1) Access User Account Control display. 16 2 Setting up the operation PC (2) Click Security and confirm that User Account Control is set to OFF. This completes the procedure to configure the User Account Control setting. S

17 3 Installing the software 3 Installing the software Each contents of previous OS and Windows 8/10 are explained in only a part varying in contents. For details about the contents which is not explained here are the same as previous OS so please refer to the Installtion Manual. 3.1 Installing TWAIN driver Differences from the previous OS. Differences When installing TWAIN driver, there are two defferences between previous OS and Windows 8/10 explained below Other than these procedure are the same as previous OS. 1. Installing the Microsoft.NET Framework Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 is used on Windows8 and Microsoft.NET Framework 4.6 is used on Windows10. However, this has already been pre-installed so installation work is not required. 2. Installing the PostgreSQL Install the PostgreSQL 8.4 on Windows8. For details of the installation, refer to Installing the PostgreSQL Installing the PostgreSQL Wait a while to be automatically installed PostgreSQL Click Next to successively start psqlodbc. G G

18 3 Installing the software 3. The following display is shown so select I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next. 4. The following display is shown so click Next without any changes. G G

This completes the installation of PostgreSQL 8.4. G Necessary settings before installing USB driver Installation of the USB driver is accomplied in instalallation of SYSTEM PROGRAM as same in Windows 7 64-bit version. However, there is necessary settings before installing the USB driver. The nonrecognized driver of the degital signature as this USB driver can not be installed normally by using Windows 8/10. Therefore, install the USB driver after canceling this limit temporarily. 17

20 3 Installing the software 1. Access Settings display. For Windows 8 (1) Put the cursor at the bottom on the right corner or upper-right corner of the display to show Settingsicon, and click it. (2) Click Change PC settings. Settings icon G S (3) Select General on the left side of the PC settings and then click Restart Now of the Advanced Start- Up on the right side of the display. S

21 3 Installing the software For Windows 10 (1) Click Start button on the desktop bottom left of the screen, and select Settings from the menu on the left that has been displayed. start button (2) Click Update & Security. S (3) Click Recovery. S (4) Click Restart now of Advanced startup. S S

23 3 Installing the software 5. Click Restart. S After restarting, push F7 or 7 on the display shown below. Finally it can be installed unrecognazed driver of degital signature. Continuously install the USB driver by reffering the installtion procedure. S NOTE This settings has temporarily been configured so that once you restarting it, the setting returns to the original conditions. This completes the necessary settings before installation. 3.3 Installing SYSTEM PROGRAM The installation of SYSTEM PROGRAM is the same as the one on Windows 7 64-bit version. 21
