1 3. CONNECTION TO A PERSONAL COMPUTER Install the included software "BepopPC" into a personal computer, and print the input characters, etc., with this machine. Prior to installing the software, be sure to terminate other application software or resident-type software. 3.1 Available Personal Computers The machine and included software run in the following environments: OS Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000 (Excluding Windows 95 for Chinese) CPU Intel Pentium, 133 MHz or more Memory : 64 MB or more Required free capacity of the HDD: 100 MB or more Should be capable of using a CD-ROM drive. Should be equipped with a Centronics or USB port. For details, visit our homepage or ask your dealer. URL: Available Personal Computers When you want to connect a personal computer and the machine directly with USB, the cable length should be within 2 m. Otherwise, the machine may not function properly. Up-to-date information concerning the machine and software is described in the README file in the included CD-ROM. Be sure to read it.

Set the included CD-ROM in the personal computer. The BepopPC Setup Menu screen appears. Click the [Install BepopPC] button, to start the installer. 5. Install BepopPC according to the message displayed on the screen. If your PC works with Windows 2000, log on to Windows 2000 as a member of the "Administrators" or "Power Users" group, to install. If the PC, where BepopPC is to be installed, is being used in a network, make inquiry to the network administrator. If installed to Windows 2000, use Explorer, etc., to open "Security" under "Properties" in the BepopPC folder (C:\ProgramFiles\MAX\BepopPC) where it has been installed, and set a full-control access permission to the log-on user you want to use. When you want to run the PM-100A with a Centronics port, select "LPT*1:," and when you want to run it with a USB port, select "USB :" (the Printer field is left blank). The following describes the procedure for using the USB port; when using the Centronics port, the procedure is the same after Step 5. Click the [Next>] button.
