Read USER GUIDE located on the Main screen of unit for full detailed instructions or Download a copy of the latest version from Support Website to read on your computer while using the device. Support Website: Lots of Help to answer your most common questions. Set Up Placement and Connections Keep the unit away from other electronic components, not on or under them. Do not place material (doilies) on or under unit the unit is warm when running remove plastic DO NOT place unit behind the edge of TV screen. Interference is emitted from back of TV. NOTE: Remote control is NOT fully functional. Unit is set to work with keyboard and mouse. 1. Remove USB Dongle from underside of mouse and insert into one of the 2 USB ports located in the ITVA888 unit. (Do not put dongle in your TV set.) 2. Plug HDMI cable or AV cable into unit and into TV. Note TV input/source. 3. Put 1 AAA battery (not included) in mouse and 2 AAA in keyboard. Way better than remote. Press down front and pull back to remove mouse battery cover. Keyboard Battery Area Press down and forward until you hear a click to put cover back on properly. There is no light indicating keyboard is on, as that would use up battery when keyboard not in use. 4. Plug in unit to power it up. Press power button on ITVA888. USE ONLY included power supply. 5. Select the correct input/ source on your TV, with your TV remote, to view the ITVA888 Unit. Power ON Full Boot The first time the unit powers up it needs time to initialize. Please wait a few minutes before trying apps. They may say app not installed until device fully boots. Some apps like KODI/XBMC will need time to update when launched. To confirm unit is fully booted, look at the apps page by clicking the white circle with dots in it. It starts at about half a page. Once fully booted this first app page is full. Power On/Off/Sleep Leave the Unit ON Best performance is achieved by leaving the device powered up at all times. Androids are not designed for on/off like a satellite receiver or cable box. They stay on. They go into sleep mode like a computer. They use very little power in sleep mode. Click a mouse button to wake it up. Repeatedly turning device on/off can result in system crashes. Turn ITVA888 off by pressing power button and selecting Power off. This can be the actual power button on the unit or power button icon on screen. Mouse Controls On Android devices, single LEFT click to Select/Enter. Single RIGHT click to Go Back/Exit. Left click and Hold can pop up alternate menus or allow you to move icons.

Internet Connection Internet is required to use most programs on the device Connect to the internet Once device boots up, select settings from bottom right. Choose your wifi connection and enter wifi password. Use keyboard (or mouse with on screen keyboard ) to type. It is a good idea to check box saying Show Password to prevent errors. Make sure to type capitals, small letters and numbers exactly as they should be. They are case sensitive and that is not optional. When it says connected you are ready. If it does not say connected, see the troubleshooting section below. Ethernet internet (hard wired for best performance): Turn Wifi off by clicking wifi on/off slider. Turn Ethernet on by clicking Ethernet on/off slider. Plug Ethernet cable from router into unit. Click on the word Ethernet to see that the IP address changes to a series of numbers and not just a pile of zeros. See troubleshooting if you have a problem or visit the help website. First Steps: Please read the User Guide for detailed instructions. It is on your device and a copy can be downloaded from the support website to read on your computer while using the device. It has examples of how you can search for TV and Movie content and answers the most common questions. Google Play Store: (icon looks like a shopping Bag with an arrow on main screen) It is a good idea to log in/ register to get updates for your existing apps and explore a wide range of free and premium apps. Use your existing account or set up a new one to use on the device. Gmail: If you set up a Play Store account, you get a Gmail account automatically (icon with an M on it located beside the App store icon) Use this, or your personal , to contact support. Register for Free Help and Updates: Send an with your name and purchase date to support@androidtvtablet.com. We will send you important information to keep you up to date. Check the support website to see a summary of recent updates. Contact us if you miss one. Finding and Viewing Video Content ShowBox is one of several easy to use entertainment apps on the device. There are others on the main screen as well, for the non-techie folks, including Sky HD, Cartoon HD and Movie Tube. These have easy to use menus and searching is performed with the magnifying glass icon or the blank line saying Search. Click to Open them and take a look. KODI/XBMC is the main attraction for watching TV, Movies, Music, Sports, Etc. Etc. Etc. Example Use: Click KODI/XBMC Click 1Channel Click TV Shows Click Most Popular Select a show from the list Select the season you want to view Select the episode you want Select a source - Best sources to use in KODI/XBMC are always changing. Make a note of the names of servers that work well for you. If one link is not working, try another. There are typically lots of links for your file. Some are better than others. Troubleshooting the Set Up Most problems are network issues. Rebooting your router/modem is a good place to start. Wifi If device does not connect: 1. Click your connection-click forget-click connection again-enter password again could be a typo 2. Reboot router/modem, especially if using cable internet. 3. Toggle wifi off and on in android settings. 4. Change router security from WEP to WPA, especially if a Bell device. 5. Try another router or access point. Some older routers are not compatible.

6. Hard wire the unit and use Ethernet. If you are distant from the router there are Wifi extenders and powerline ethernet adapters that can allow you to use a hardwire connection without running long cables through your place. See your dealer for details. Ethernet Issues: 1. Toggle Ethernet off and on. 2. Reboot router. 3. Reboot ITVA888 Device. Power Off and Power back On. 4. Verify and/or replace Ethernet cables. Click the word Ethernet to confirm an IP address is assigned and it is not just a pile of zeros. Slow or buffering Check connection speed with speed test app. Over 2MB download needed for SD, 4MB for HD. If your download from provider is big enough but not getting through: Reboot router and ITVA888 device. Wifi connection select your connection and look at link speed if below 50, move device away from back of TV and away from floor. You must Exit settings and go back in to check again. If it remains less than 50 you need to improve router or router location or add an access point closer to device OR hardwire it (Ethernet.) Wifi Extenders and Powerline Ethernet adaptors are available to help with this. If your download from provider is too slow, ask them for faster service. Not everybody has enough download speed for HD. Sufficient download speed is not available everywhere or from all providers. Regular Maintenance (Full details on website) Regular maintenance is required for the proper functioning of your device. It is quick and easy. 1. Clear Android Cache-Select Android Settings-Select Storage-Click on Cached Data and confirm. 2. Memory Maintenance Clearing junk files (DON T use apps for this as it can delete programming) Open File Manager (the Yellow file folder icon on the main screen) Open and clear the contents of the following folders: (don t delete from folders that we don t specify) Lost (the most common problem folder), Download, and Showbox (if present) You can use the multi setting and select all and delete OR you can click and hold on a file and the menu will change to supply you with a delete option. Once these folders have been emptied, memory is usually good. (In some cases memory is clogged with other types of files. Still have low space? Contact us.) 3. Kodi/XBMC/Genesis Maintenance Select the following after opening Kodi/XBMC Maintenance Tool (under the menu option Programs) General Maintenance Purge Packages and Yes to confirm - OK when done Clear Cache - OK when done Right click to main menu Select Genesis under Video (if you use this add-on regularly) Select Tools Select GENESIS: Clear Cache Yes to confirm Please keep this guide in a convenient location so you can use it as a reference

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Many issues are addressed by performing Regular Maintenance. In this section are the top questions we receive and their answers. Here are the questions for quick reference. 1. How do I find? 2. Showbox is not working right. How do I fix it? 3. Kodi/XBMC is Blank OR All Apps are Gone or Not Installed 4. My Video is Buffering. How do I fix it? 5. I am Getting an Error and it Says Check Log File OR Kodi/XBMC is Closing When I Try to Open a File 6. Kodi/XBMC is Stuck and Just Says Working. 7. How Do I Set Up USTV Now to Get American Networks? 8. I can t Download from Google Play. Gmail is Not Syncing. Server Error from a Google App (Most issues with Google Apps) 9. Where can I get content from Country X, Y or Z or about subject A, B or C or more stuff like? 10. What is the Internet TV Box for Android? 11. What Does it Do? 12. Is it Legal? 1. How do I find? There are several easy-to-use entertainment applications on the main screen of the unit. Showbox and Sky are two very popular ones for commercial free entertainment content. You can open the app and select from what is displayed OR you can change the display by clicking on menu options OR you can perform a search by clicking on the magnifying glass icon. These apps are about as easy to search through as it gets. (There are links in some apps to copyright content. Check the laws in your area before using them. We do not provide assistance to help you find copyright content of any kind. For questions related to this, read the Read Me First item on your main page.) There are a couple Live Streaming type apps on the main page of the unit. These include Cloud and Mobdro and possibly some International apps for your geographic region of choice. More apps are available from the Google Play Store, especially if you want TV from a specific country. Open the apps and explore the different menu options to see what is available. For the widest selection of content, by geography, topic, year or type, use the custom media center application known as Kodi or XBMC. On older units it can be accessed by clicking the X icon in the lower left corner of the main page, designating XBMC, while new units have a K icon in that location, designating Kodi. Pressing this launches the media center. Some people may be a bit intimidated by the massive amount of content in here, but that is what makes it great. Exploring it is half the fun. Once open there are shortcuts displayed for the most popular add-ons (like apps but inside Kodi/XBMC we call them add-ons). Click the Star icon in the lower left corner and a favourites menu pops out from the right. The first item is called Categories. If you click on this you will be taken to a series of folders that has all the add-ons subdivided into logical subjects for you to explore. There are sections for Kids, Movies, TV, Sports, Live Streaming, and more. Open the folder that contains the subject matter you are searching for. There are many add-ons capable of providing content in any subject area. Explore these by clicking on them and checking out their menus. Almost every one of them has a search feature that will allow you to search for your specific item. Typically there are logical menu choices and you can follow the links until you arrive at what you seek. Some are less straight forward than others. Some are better organized than others. But all offer something unique or interesting or powerful or they would not be included. Please respect that we cannot direct you to copyrighted content.

2. Showbox is not working right. How do I fix it? While Showbox is convenient, it often has server issues and other problems. These are outside our control completely. There are some important tips for using it wisely: 1. Do not download using Showbox. It fills up the memory of the device. If this happens you need to clear the memory. Only select Watch Now. If you accidentally download something please clear it using the Regular Maintenance routine for clearing memory. 2. Select LOW as the quality. It doesn t really make much difference in terms of picture quality in this app. Selecting LOW reduces your chance of encountering server problems. Select Internal player. 3. Reset the app DO NOT do this for other apps unless specifically instructed. NEVER DO THIS FOR KODI/XBMC or you lose all custom programming for the media center application. To reset Showbox: Go into Android Settings Click on Apps Scroll down right side and Click on Showbox Click on Clear Data and confirm OK Click on Force Stop and confirm OK When you go back into Showbox, it will reload from scratch. 3. Kodi/XBMC is Blank OR All Apps are Gone or Not Installed App not installed may just be due to the unit not having fully booted up. After turning it on give it a couple minutes. Check the App page by clicking the circle with dots in in in the lower middle of the main page. It starts out at about half full. It should be completely full once the unit has booted up. Once booted you should no longer get that message. If the apps don t load or Kodi/XBMC is blank, then somebody has likely committed a fatal error. There are only 2 things you can do other than HOPE. 1, Reboot the unit and see if everything loads correctly. If so, great, problem solved. If not, this is a fatal issue. 2. Check Kodi/XBMC to see if it is only a skin issue. Open the Kodi/XBMC app and click Add-ons under the menu item Video. If all you see is Get More then that is a fatal issue. If you see your add-ons all there then you only have a skin problem. Contact support for instructions on how to repair this. If your issue is fatal and you have lost a significant amount or ALL custom programming, we cannot fix this remotely. It is the same as setting up a computer from bare bones with over a hundred programs. It requires special tools to be done efficiently and accurately. You will need to make arrangements with your point of purchase to have the unit reprogrammed. Check with them for their policies and procedures for this. if you cannot contact them. Best Advice: Heed the cautions and ASK questions BEFORE doing something you may regret. The unit does not choose to delete things by itself. It usually requires human assistance. The exceptions to this are VERY RARE. 4. My Video is Buffering. How do I fix it? First, you are using an internet link, so it may be the link itself. The source may be overcrowded or just plain slow. Try alternative links. Try alternative programs/apps/add-ons. You may find it isolated to one particular app or add-on. If so, use another until their developers fix their app or add-on. If EVERYTHING is buffering you likely have either a network issue or a memory issue. First step is to reboot your router and when it finishes, reboot your device. Check your internet speed to make sure it is not an internet issue with your provider. Otherwise, follow network trouble shooting steps in the user guide or quick start guide to resolve networking issues and/or perform regular maintenance procedures to tackle potential memory issues. 5. I am Getting an Error and it Says Check Log File OR Kodi/XBMC is Closing When I Try to Open a File

These can be similar. They can represent a memory problem and require regular maintenance to clear up memory. However, most of the time an error suggesting you check log files is completely NORMAL. This happens sometimes when you click dead links. There are a great deal of dead links on the internet. The device is simply telling you there is a problem with your selection. Click OK and close the error. Try alternative links and if that does not help, perhaps you should try an alternative app or addon. There are plenty of links available for most forms of content. If in doubt, perform your maintenance. 6. Kodi/XBMC is Stuck and Just Says Working. If you just opened Kodi/XBMC then it is updating. Give it a few minutes. The longer it has been since you opened this app, the longer it will take to update. If it performs a lot of updates please use the Kodi/XBMC Purge Packages option from Regular Maintenance. Otherwise, you have likely found one of the joys of Live Stream linking on the internet. Most of the time when this happens it is due to trying to connect to live streaming links. The device gets stubborn about trying to complete your request for a non-functional or poorly functional link. Some attempts can last 5 to 10 minutes. Sometimes longer. Some just seem like forever but only take about 30 seconds. Eventually, it usually stops on its own and says it could not connect. If you don t have the patience and don t want to wait, especially if it may be a real long hang up, follow the procedure for Force Stop of Kodi/XBMC. CAUTION You will be in a screen where you can do serious damage to your programming. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SELECT. Stick to the instructions. Don t be creative or SPACE OUT at the wrong time. To Force Stop XBMC/Kodi (or any app for that matter): Click on the House icon in the Android black and white menu along the bottom of screen. You may need to point at the bottom middle of the screen, click the left mouse button, hold it in, and drag up, to make it display. This is for recent units. For older units, it should always be displayed. OR it may have to be restored from the main Android screen if you minimized it manually. This depends on which version of firmware you have on your unit. You can ask for further help with this. This takes you to the main page (desktop) Go to Android settings, click on apps Scroll down to Kodi or XBMC (depending what is on your unit) and click on it PAY CLOSE ATTENTION HERE!!! Click on Force Stop and confirm. NOTHING ELSE. (Never click clear data or uninstall while in this menu or you lose all custom programming. There is NO REMOTE FIX FOR THIS!) 7. How Do I Set Up USTV Now to Get American Networks? (Disclaimer: We provide this information so those that qualify for this service can get this service. It is up to you to determine whether or not you qualify.) To set up USTVNow, go to their website and sign up. It is free. It is ustvnow.com To set up an account they ask that you be an American living in another country. If you agree with this description, check the box, say your country and pick a password. You have to respond to the confirmation that they send to you. It is needed to activate your account. They also offer a reputable paid service for access to more channels. You now need to put your username and password into the add-on to make it work. Go into Kodi/XBMC. Under Video in the menu, click on Add-ons.

Scroll down to USTVNow and highlight it (don t click on it, just point at it with your mouse pointer) Press the C button on your keyboard. Click on Add-on settings from the popup menu. Type in your and password for the account that you set up. If you don t have high enough bandwidth, you can also turn the Quality down as low as 400 kbps to accommodate slower internet. You need at least 5 Meg download uninterrupted by other users for HD quality. If you don t have that, lower the quality setting to avoid buffering/jittering. When done, press OK. If you did it correctly you will see 7 channel options when you open Live TV in this add-on. If you see a big list, you either typed info in wrong or did not reply to their registration confirmation. The channel list also tells you what is on at that moment. 8. I can t Download from Google Play. Gmail is Not Syncing. Server Error from a Google App (Most issues with Google Apps) We refer to this as being Googled. It is some bizarre form of operating system glitch with Android software. This can happen on your phones or other Android devices as well. Here is how you can fix it quickly: Select Apps from within Android settings. At the top it says Downloaded and to the right of that it says On SD Card. Click On SD Card. It scrolls right and now you can see Running. Click Running. It scrolls again and you can see ALL. Click on ALL. Scroll down until you get to Google Play Store and click on it. Select Clear Data. Approve the change. Right click to go back to the list. Scroll down until you get to Google Services Framework and click on it. Select Clear Data. Approve the change. Right click to go back to the list. Do not change anything else. Right click all the way out. (In certain tough cases you may also have to do the same for 2 more sections. Try the above 2 alone first. If it doesn t solve the problem, do all 4 sections. Scroll until you get to Download Manager and click on it. Select Clear Data. Approve the change. Right click to go back to the list. Scroll until you get to Google Play Services and click on it. Select Clear Data. Approve the change. Right click to go back to the list.) Again NEVER do this to Kodi/XBMC! Reboot your Android TV Tablet by turning off and removing power (Use Reboot from the menu if your device has this option) Plug it back in and turn it on. (or wait for Reboot to finish completely) 9. Where can I get content from Country X, Y or Z or about subject A, B or C or more stuff like? There is content available from more countries and areas of interest than we can list. This is truly a world wide content viewer as it gathers items from all over the world wide web. We have some custom configurations for various nationalities and if you are interested in units for a particular cultural group we would be happy to assist you in delivering to your audience. We can create custom configurations for almost any nationality or special interest, as long as the minimum order quantity is met. Current programming options on a standard unit include live streaming add-ons with content from virtually everywhere in the world. However, there is a vast and expanding series of special apps and add-ons for viewers from specific geographic regions, specific languages, specific cultures, and specific interests. We can help you customize according to need.

We do our best to investigate the functionality and usefulness of all apps and add-ons that we recommend. We will do our best to recommend the appropriate apps and add-ons to suit your needs. If you have a specific need, please contact is to let us know. We will investigate currently available programming and supply directions to assist you in finding programming available to your tastes. For certain requests there will be time needed for research before we can provide recommendations. The internet changes fast so we always like to confirm that the information is current and useful. 10. What is the Internet TV Box for Android? The Internet TV Box for Android system turns your TV into an Android Tablet with a built-in media center. The custom media center is fully loaded and ready for you to enjoy. There are over 50,000 apps available for Android tablets currently and more are available every day. There are an overwhelming number of free apps for you to select from without further cost. A number of them have been loaded onto your device to get you started, including some popular and easy-to-use video entertainment apps. 11. What Does it Do? Internet TV Box for Android will allow you to do anything you can do on an Android tablet. You can play games, send and receive , work on documents, use Twitter, Facebook, perform online banking, read the day s news stories, go on YouTube, check the weather, get a map or driving directions, and on and on and on. It also has a powerful media center called Kodi/XBMC. You can use this to view the content of your home network, watch a wealth of movies and TV shows, catch up on the news and view a wide variety of interesting content from the internet. Open the media center and the whole internet is added to your home video database. The software will help you locate links to the video that you want to stream to your TV. And much more 12. Is it Legal? Ownership of this device is as legal as owning any other computer, laptop or tablet. This is the same as any other Android tablet except your TV screen is the tablet s monitor. Your local copyright laws may protect some of the content that your tablet can point to on the internet. This is true of any computer. We are trying to provide a fully functional computing device for worldwide distribution. You are encouraged to check the specific laws in your area. We provide the device as an Android tablet. There is a ReadMe First Important file located on the device desktop that addresses this same topic. Some of the aggregators in the Kodi/XBMC media center and various apps point to copyrighted material. The definition of copyrighted material changes according to where you are in the world. They also point to noncopyrighted materials and otherwise freely viewable content and to websites distributing their own approved materials. There are many sites that encourage your use and help to educate and inform you. We are not going to attempt to distinguish among them or discriminate against any of them as the content is too mixed and muddled for us to make these determinations. Users of the device also span the globe and we cannot make these determinations for all regions. The dynamic nature of the internet makes this an even harder issue. Recent laws in Canada have not seen court cases as yet so there is little basis of legal comparison here. We must leave the legal work to the copyright holders as they have methods available to them to remove copyrighted content when it is hosted on the internet without their consent. We must also trust your good judgment. In the Americas, sharing copyrighted content is always considered copyright infringement. This device does not have any peer to peer sharing or torrenting software installed. We advise you to keep it that way. There are companies out there tracking copyright offenders through their use of peer to peer and torrenting software. We do not condone nor encourage copyright infringement. Please see ReadMe First. 11 Internet TV Box for Android Components Your unit contains: The Internet TV Box for Android device, the ITVA888, as in picture below (Models change from time to time. Our previous versions included MK888, CX818 and others). A power supply to plug in the unit. Use ONLY the provided power supply. An HDMI cable that connects the unit to an HD TV. An A/V cable to connect the device to non-hd televisions. It has full sized USB ports for peripherals and a flash memory card slot. A remote control. (This is not recommended for regular use as it has limited functions.) A wireless keyboard and mouse set highly recommended as device is designed for this instead of the remote. ITVA888 model Bandwidth Watching video over the internet can consume a great deal of bandwidth. This is especially true when you watch high definition video. There are a few concerns with bandwidth that we should look at. 1. Monthly caps/quotas if you use an internet service with a monthly amount of usage allotted to you, be aware of your consumption as a device like this uses data in a hurry. A typical standard definition movie of about 2 hours is 700MB. That is 0.7 GB. 4 hours a day equals approximately GB per month. HD will increase this. We are not responsible for your overages. When there is no cap there are no worries. Unlimited service is best for peace of mind. 2. Download speed If your download speed is slow you will not enjoy trying to watch video online. You will get a great deal of buffering and pausing and you will be frustrated. Once again, this is especially true of high definition video. A minimum speed of 2 to 3 Mbps is recommended for standard definition video and 5 Mbps for high definition. Others using the internet at the same time share this bandwidth so be aware of that too. You can use the speed test app to get a reading of your bandwidth. Open it up and start the test. Download speed is the most important number for you. You want to see at least Not all download streams are created equal. Some video may buffer a great deal from one source while running fine from a different source. There is no exact science to this and we cannot tell you this place is great and that place is terrible. It doesn t hold true for all videos from a given site. If you find a video buffering or not starting up, exit out and try another source for the same video. Try a third if you need to. There are many fast download sources. If you are still having issues, there could be somebody else eating up your bandwidth. Check the kids first. 4. Lastly about bandwidth, some internet companies get upset about high use and intentionally slow you down. It s a dirty trick they play. They don t tell you, but will mention their fair use policy fine print if you complain. This is usually done when somebody has peer sharing applications running 24 hours a day. Turn off (fully exit) all peer sharing software and it will go back to normal

The Desktop This is your home page. It is much like a computer desktop. Your app shortcuts are located here. A full display of all your apps is displayed when you click on the white circle in the bottom middle. There is more than 1 page to scroll through. Use the scroll button on the mouse. From here, you can create shortcuts by holding the left mouse button down on an icon and waiting for the desktop to appear. You then move it to where you want and let go of the mouse button. You can move your shortcuts around in the same manner. Hold down the left mouse button when on an icon, move it, then let go. The preloaded desktop has a number of apps to get you started. There are some games on the right hand side of the page. In the center there are some helpful apps. You can get YouTube from here or from with the media center. A link is there for IMDb so you can get all your movie info. There are apps to bring up movies and TV shows from outside the media centre. The Speed test app is in the lower right. Facebook is on here. There is an internet browser, an app, a link to the play store and of course, a link to KODI/XBMC, the media centre application that has been customized for you. Before continuing you should open the ReadMe First Important text file at the top left. It gets some legal housekeeping out of the way. After you have read it you can remove it from your desktop. It is recommended to keep it there so other users can also read it. If you remove it you can find it again using the file manager (the yellow folder) and selecting the DCIM folder within it. Once you left click the ReadMe First Important file a menu may pop out. If so, select ES Note Editor and below that select Always. Thank you for reading it. This user guide is on your desktop. This may be how you found what you are reading or you may have been provided with a separate copy of it. Either works.

Now it is on to more fun stuff. The icons on the bottom from left to right: KODI/XBMC to launch the customized media center application. Internet browser is for launching a web page. Google play you will have to enter your existing account info or sign up for a free one. Any Google login will work. It will allow you to check your Google and sync your other Google apps. Next is a Gmail app. The white circle opens all the apps and widgets. On the ITVA888 unit it is a circle in the middle at bottom. Next is a file manager. Be careful in here not to delete system files or your device will not operate properly. Do not delete anything that you are not sure about. A media player is next. Then is the settings launcher. You can go here to force stop an app that is not responding, check your memory usage, change your wireless connection, etc. Last is the Speed Test app for checking your bandwidth. Very bottom are icons with a black background that will be there on most every page.when it is hidden you can point the mouse at the bottom middle, hold the left mouse button in and then drag up to expose it again. The first icon in the above picture is power. Click this to turn off or reboot the device. Then you have volume DOWN. Then the go Back which goes back to the last page. Right clicking the mouse does the same thing. The five sided object or house represents home. It takes you back to the Android desktop. This is very useful when stuck in an app that is not responding. The 2 rectangles show you a list of recent apps you have run. You can use this to quickly switch between apps. Volume UP is next. Next are down arrows that allow you to minimize this bar. There is generally no need to minimize it as it usually hides automatically during video playback. You can get this bar back by clicking the bottom middle of the screen and dragging upward. On older models, if you minimize the Android menu bar in KODI/XBMC you can t get it back without closing and reopening KODI/XBMC. It will also throw your mouse cursor off too. You will have to aim above everything to select it. We advise you to leave this bar open most of the time. If you decide to minimize, you will have to exit KODI/XBMC and go back in again so that your mouse behaves properly again. The remaining items on the right bottom are a taskbar. It shows the time, some running apps and other notifications. We are not going to go into a discussion of how to use every app. Open them with a left click and try them. They all have help plus support pages and internet sites as well. Exploring and learning is part of the fun. Stay away from system apps. There is an app for us to help you with, Quick Support. We will direct you how to use it if it becomes necessary. There is an antivirus app already installed on the unit as well. The KODI/XBMC Media Center Internet TV Box for Android contains a very powerful and customized media center application. Left click once on the KODI/XBMC icon on the lower left of the desktop to launch this. You will find yourself on the: KODI/XBMC Media Center Main Page

Options listed across from left to right are: Weather You are better to use the weather app from the Android home page. We just use this to align your screen properly so Video is the first section you see when opening Kodi/XBMC. Pictures You can store and manipulate pictures from your entire network. You can create slide shows for viewing. There are a couple apps here for you that are photo oriented. Videos This one is where the heavy usage happens. Your media center has been set up with about 80 separate linking applications.(called Add-ons in Kodi/XBMC) Adult applications may be available on your device. You can disable or uninstall them if you like. Ask for instructions if required. You will see shortcuts listed for the most popular online content applications under the word Video. You can access ALL add-ons by clicking the word Add-ons under the menu item Video. Music Highlighting Music shows you add-on shortcuts for music choices. These range from worldwide online radio to podcasts to music videos and even Karaoke. Great fun for music fans. Programs This one is where we go to do regular maintenance. It also has massive program called Navi-X. This is an entire system similar to Kodi/XBMC and it has a massive amount of links available. It is a bit less user friendly and requires some getting used to. You can find some harder to locate content in here. System This is not a good place to play around. You may get unexpected results if you make changes here. We will send updates that direct you to use this area for installing new applications. We provide specific instructions as to what you should be doing in here. You go here to change shortcuts. You can also disable or uninstall adult programming, or other add-ons that you do not want, from this area. Shortcuts on KODI/XBMC Main Page: We have selected the most popular add-ons at the time your unit was designed and placed them on the main Kodi/XBMC screen under menu items as shortcuts. These can change from time to time as add-ons come and go. Each has popularity for a reason. Some may be for TV or Movie content, some may be for Live Streaming, some may be for Sports, Music, etc. You are welcome to change the shortcuts to those you like best. The Star in the lower left is for Favorites. Click on it to see some already listed for you. It enhances the list of Shortcuts that you see below the menus. The first item in Favorites is Categories. Click this to get help making sense of what all these add-ons are for. It takes you to folders that separate all of the linking applications by subject category. It is a little easier to navigate from here than by going into the big list of all add-ons. Your categories by default are TV, Live Streams, Movies, News, Sports, Kids, YouTube, Informative (educational/documentary/interesting), Other, Music and Adult. We hope these category names are pretty selfexplanatory. Open your folder of choice and go from there.

This is the part where most people look like a deer in the headlights. It s hard to know where to begin. So, let s just start by pulling up a movie. Click on the Movie folder. There are a whole pile of programs you can use to watch movies with. Some differ in the way they list things. Some differ in the sources they use. Some are there to offer a specific type of content. Most are pretty general. Open one up and give it a try. You can try this as an example: Click 1Channel (Prime Wire) Click Movies Click Most Popular Select a movie from the list Select a source - Best sources to use in KODI/XBMC are always changing. Make a note of the names of servers that work well for you. If one link is not working, try another. It may take a minute for the movie to get started. If it takes any longer, select a different source or check your internet connection and speed. Note on Links in Kodi/XBMC - You may get returned to your list or receive a message saying the link did not work. You may even get a message that says check log files if you have selected multiple dead links. This is normal. The internet has many dead links. There are many that are also slow as their servers are not good, or they are overloaded. Please make a note of the names of the servers. Over time you will get used to which ones work best for you. They change over time as popular servers can get overcrowded. New server locations pop up all the time. They come and go like fads. Some applications have an auto play function which will avoid the need for selecting links. They seem nice when they work, but most are not so good. They pick the first working link, not the BEST working link. They may start playing a very slow link. They may try a couple dead links and give up. Then you have to adjust settings to turn off auto play and select manually anyway. It is typically best to avoid auto play in the first place. You are further ahead by getting used to the server lists. You may think this is complicated or frustrating at first. The idea is to give you choice. By having many links and not depending on one or two sources that are good at a given moment, you don t end up overcrowding the same servers and making them useless too. If there are problems with particular servers you will still have many other options. If a link or file is slow or corrupt, or has become a dead link, you are not out of luck, because of all the other choices available. Realistically, you are far better off with many choices where some don t work than with few choices that will only work for a short period of time. Watching a Movie Below we will show you another example of pulling up a movie. The same essential procedures are used in any application to find any movie or TV show. We will show an example of getting a TV show later. We will use Ice Films to look for the movie using a search. There are basically 2 ways to find something. One is to search using the name of it. The other can be broken down into many similar functions but amounts to having the unit Suggest something for you. This covers searching by genre, alphabetically, popularity, date and so on. These are ways to have the unit suggest content along the lines of your interest.

From Add-on Categories under Movies, or the KODI/XBMC Main Page, click on Ice Films: Click on Search and enter some of the title. In this case we have typed three faces of eve. The copyright on this film has expired. Use the actual keyboard, or the on-screen keyboard can be used with your mouse. Click Done when finished. The search results are returned and we can watch the movie from the associated links. You can choose from many add-on applications to get the same results. While everybody seems to find their personal favourite add-ons (apps), the most popular are listed as shortcuts in KODI/XBMC.

Once a show starts you can pause, rewind, jump back, forward, etc with the buttons at the bottom. You can also click on the progress bar. Move the mouse to bring these up. Right click to hide them or just wait 5 seconds and they will hide themselves. The mouse pointer will disappear shortly after. SD versus HD in IceFilms and Generally If there were an HD version of your selection in Ice Films, you would see it listed in the results as well. The SD version is not very different in quality most of the time in Ice Films. The SD is usually derived from the HD, meaning it looks better than it should. You are also getting full digital imaging from source to the TV if connected with an HDMI cable. The quality is also similar because most HD online is 720p. There is plenty of 1080p to be found as well. 720p creates some difference while 1080 creates a significant difference in quality. Expect two to three time the bandwidth when dealing with HD video. Try HD to test your bandwidth. If it plays nice, that s great. If it buffers and hangs, stick to SD. If you have a monthly cap, SD will use as little as half to a third of the amount of data as HD. You may have to try a couple of different HD sources to run a fair test. You can also check your bandwidth using the speed test app in the app section of the tablet. A score of about 4 MB will get 720 while it will take about 5MB for 1080, with nobody else on the internet. We will note one other item here. A few, not many, sources require a captcha to be filled in before linking you. They want to confirm you are human. For some of these, we are not so sure humans can actually read the text. We prefer ones without a captcha but if we have to use one we would at least like one that we can read. An example is below of one that is easy to deal with. Type in the words that agree with the captcha and get linked. See the picture below.

Sources Not all sources are equal. Each deals with content in its own way. Some are better than others. Some are faster than others. Some bog down during peak times. There are some sources that require you to solve a captcha, as above. Experience will tell you which ones are better than others. This is in no way a complete list as there are so many sources. We cannot speak to the legitimacy of any of them as we are not associated with them and do not know where or how they operate. You need to experiment to find out which ones you personally like the most and which work best for you at any given time. Some sources do not allow jumping forward through a show. Some add-ons allow you to resume a show where you left off if interrupted. If one does not do it, try another. 1 Channel allows all these functions. Changing Sources If your video is stuck buffering, give it a minute. Sometimes it is needed at first, especially for HD. If it isn t getting anywhere, exit and try another source. Move the mouse and then left click the square icon for Stop and you will go back to the previous screen. If you are watching, and then it stops to buffer every minute, it is also not a good sign. Try another source first. If it runs smooth for a minute or so, your bandwidth should be good enough. You can try these for HD to see if you can run it. If you have stuttering, buffering, or a complete stop on multiple sources and multiple selections, and there is nobody else using the internet, you likely don t have the speed for HD. Don t worry about it because standard definition is really nice too. You can try to get faster internet where possible, or try to identify network issues. Watching a TV Show Below are sample contents of the TV folder at one point in time. These change over time. Think of a TV show name to search for. From the many linking apps, select 1Channel (Prime Wire) for this experiment. Other add-ons are very similar. Now select TV Shows. Then click on Search. In some add-ons you may need to click search first, and then specify TV Shows.

In the search bar type all or part of the title you are looking for. Spelling counts and typos will prevent you from finding what you are looking for in an easy manner. If not sure how to spell it, open the internet and type there first. It will give you results even when spelling is wrong. For this search, type the name of the show you thought of. It brings up various results. There may be suggestions of other shows with similar names or a single show sometimes has old and new versions, which are usually all listed here. Select the one you want. It now offers a choice of any season for the whole lifespan of the show (typically.) Select the season you are looking for. You can usually watch them all right from the beginning if you want. Once you select your season, you can select from any episode in that season. A list of source files (internet links) pop up to select from. At first you are going to try random names, until you get used to the ones that work well. Explore on your own. If you are using an add-on with an auto-play feature, the content just begins to play no sources to select from, (but you may get a bad file or source.) The file will initialize and begin to play. Give it a moment. Then it s time to enjoy the show.

Navigating through menus: You can left click to select menu options and progress through the menus. You can right click to go back through the menus. It is reverse, in other words. You can right click all the way back to the Media Center Main Page if you wish. You could choose instead to use the little house in the lower right to take you back to the media center main page. The arrow beside it will take you back one menu, like right clicking. Exiting KODI/XBMC: The proper way to exit KODI/XBMC is to use the little Power icon beside the star on the lower left of the main page and then select exit. This will shut down the media center. If you want to keep it open and do something else and come back to it, you can click the 5 sided image shaped like a house in the bottom black and white Android menu. You would then be able to come back where you left off when you open KODI/XBMC again. The app will close if it is left running too long in the background. It is best practice to exit properly if you are going to run other apps, especially apps with video, as leaving this open in the background drains resources. Another example of using an add-on to find a TV show: Let s use a different linking app to get a show called This Hour has 22 Minutes. It is free through our public broadcaster in Canada so there is no concern about copyright here. We will also show how you can use more than one add-on for this. You may need to change add-ons at times as websites can be overloaded, unavailable due to maintenance or just plain acting up, among other reasons. In this case we will start with Genesis. Open it up and click on Search.

Then click on TV Shows. (You can also search by actors and such from here.) You don t need the full name or capitals, so we tried 22 minutes Our search finds the result so we click on This Hour has 22 Minutes.

As was the case before, we get the list of seasons and then the list of episodes. Select your season and episode and then enjoy the show. Now to show you another way to access this very same show we are going to use the CBC add-on. The CBC add-on is great for Canadian content from the CBC, including local news. In this case we are going to open the add-on (It is available under the word Video by clicking Add-ons and scrolling to CBC.) Once open we click on Shows: 22 Minutes is listed. Click on it. Again you will be presented with a list of Seasons and by selecting one you will get a list of episodes. Select the one of your choice and enjoy.

News - To get your local News from CBC, choose News from the main CBC menu. Then select Canada. You see a list of various regions: Pick the region you want news for. Let s try Toronto: Shortly after the broadcast the news is available commercial free. Choose the short news piece of your choice or watch the full news show broadcast. Enjoy (oops, probably the wrong word for News.) There are many other news add-ons in the News folder. Some are recorded content and some are live. The Mobdro app on the main page of the device also has many links to News programming. Select News in it.

Live Streams There are many live streams available and the quality of the picture varies from great to not so good. We suggest F.T.V.(Filmon TV) for reliable live access to the major British networks and some other channels from around the world. USTVNow can be used for the major American networks ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS and CW. It requires signing up at the USTVNow website. They also offer paid packages to view additional American content. We recommend that you avoid Live TV and save yourself from having to watch commercials. However it is pretty much the only way to watch daytime talk shows and soap operas. These are very rarely uploaded for later viewing. Once you get adjusted to not watching things live, you will enjoy your viewing experience much better. Commercials are so annoying! It takes less time to watch a show as well. You can fast forward if you want and you always get a good quality picture. Once you get used to it you will not want to watch live TV again. You ll see for yourself if you try. Sports are usually the most important item for live TV. We understand this. That is why keeping a subscription to your favourite sports programming is a good idea. There are sports available in the live streams and sports folders. Sportsdevil is by far the most popular add-on for most sports programming. You can watch most sports there but quality can be poor at times. Go into Sportsdevil, click Live Sports and check it out. There are a number of sports apps for you to explore. Sports viewing on the internet is still developing and the future holds great promise. There are limits to quality at the moment but it is improving regularly. Many apps and add-ons are incorporating HD content now. There are apps from all major sports available for purchase from the sports league. These are usually the best quality you can get, offer the most content and reduce searching and concerns about getting a particular event. If you like a particular sports league you may be interested in purchasing their content directly from them. You can download various apps like CTV Go, Global Go, CP24 and Bell TV from the Google Play Store. You will need a TV account with a TV provider to log into the live viewing part of these apps. There are also apps from Rogers, Shaw, Telus and others that will serve you, depending on your region and provider. Please use caution if you are tempted to purchase live channel or live sports access over the internet from unknown providers. Many are pump and run operations designed to collect quick cash and close down. You can easily lose your investment. Always check to see that they are reputable, have a license to sell the content, and have a track record of satisfied customers over a substantial time period. Don t rely on info at their website. The folder called Informative is absolutely fantastic in our opinion. There are plenty of entirely separate linking programs here. You could get lost for a long time checking everything out. There is something for everybody s tastes. There are whole repositories of knowledge that you could not get through in a year. Whether you want to check out some documentaries or check out How Stuff Works, this is the place to do it. You could home school with the Khan academy. Both NASA and the European Space Agency are represented. There is plenty of info to explore. Above is an example of Informative menu items at one moment in time. It is always changing.
