5 1 Introduction to SUREedge SUREedge is a proven enterprise-class software appliance for Application Mobility and business critical applications Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity. Unique capabilities in the SUREedge platform include a planner driven multi-tier application mobility, instant and automatic failover, an agentless architecture, application consistent image and incremental snapshots, global deduplication, WAN throttling and zero data loss recovery points. The solution is easy to deploy, highly scalable, hardware and hypervisor agnostic and supports physical and virtual servers locally, in remote datacenters, and in private, public or hybrid clouds. Customers worldwide trust SUREedge to meet their application mobility, disaster recovery and business continuity objectives. SUREedge is the most complete and easy-to-use solution available in the market. How is SUREedge Unique as a Application Mobility Solution? SUREedge protects physical and virtual servers residing in a data center or in any Cloud. SUREedge captures application consistent Recovery Points from mission-critical servers and applications. These recovery points are then replicated, efficiently using deduplication, compression and encryption, to a remote site or Cloud for safety, These recovery points can then be used to restore an application to a prior point-in-time, and can boot any full or incremental Recovery Point as a VM either locally, at a remote site, or in a Cloud. SUREedge uses a snapshot when capturing a Recovery Point to ensure that when a failover occurs, no data is lost in the process. With SUREedge, there is no lock-in because any remote site or Cloud can be used as the DR site, and dissimilar hardware can be used at the primary and DR site. SUREedge is available as a VMware or Hyper-V virtual appliance, or as an all-in-one physical appliance. SUREedge provides failover/failback to local, remote or Cloud-based DR sites for unsurpassed flexibility SUREedge restores servers and virtual servers, at any site or Cloud, to a prior point-in-time SUREedge transmits Recovery Points to a remote site, or Cloud, for safety All SUREedge intellectual property and patents are owned by Sureline, and used to lead the industry 5 Introduction to SUREedge

8 2 Preparing server for Migration 2.1 Preparing the Windows Server SUREedge is an agentless technology. The SUREedge software appliance connects to the Windows server and uses the VSS framework to create application consistent snapshot. Full and incremental changes are streamed from the snapshot. A user with sufficient privileges has to login into the Windows server and prepare the server for Migration. These preparatory steps are done by the Windows Administrator user. Depending on whether the server is part of a domain or not, a user with following privileges is needed: Server is part of the domain: Login into the Windows Server with the above user The Capture is run with the domain\administrator user Server in not part of the domain: Login into the Windows Server with Local Administrator user The Capture is run with the Local Administrator user Post login, copy the VC-Redistributable bits from the SUREedge MC. Access the SUREedge MC share from the Windows server. For 64-bit Windows server: Copy \\<MC IP>\C$\UwAmp\www\sureedge\bin\vcredist_x64.exe on the server and install by double click For 32-bit Windows server: Copy \\<MC IP>\C$\UwAmp\www\sureedge\bin\vcredist_x86.exe on the server and install by double click Pre-Requisites Tool After installing the VC-Redistributable, the server is prepared for Migration. The preparation changes are in the form of few pre-requisites. These pre-requisites are done programmatically by a script is located on SUREedge MC. This script is present on SUREedge MC at location: C:\UwAmp\www\sureedge\prerequisitetool\. The name of the script bundle is Client_pre_requisite_tool.zip Download it on the Windows server to be migrated Unzip and run the single executable: SSTestAgent.exe Open the Windows command prompt and change to the directory where the SSTestAgent.exe exists To check if the Pre-requisite at the Server are met issue the following command: SSTestAgent.exe -agentconfig -u <-u> is an optional parameter. 8 Preparing server for Migration
