2 omm Release Notes Release Information Important Notice Due to the nature of wireless communications, transmission and reception of data can never be guaranteed. Data may be delayed, corrupted (i.e., have errors) or be totally lost. Although significant delays or losses of data are rare when wireless devices such as the Sierra Wireless modem are used in a normal manner with a well-constructed network, the Sierra Wireless modem should not be used in situations where failure to transmit or receive data could result in damage of any kind to the user or any other party, including but not limited to personal injury, death, or loss of property. Sierra Wireless accepts no responsibility for damages of any kind resulting from delays or errors in data transmitted or received using the Sierra Wireless modem, or for failure of the Sierra Wireless modem to transmit or receive such data. Safety and Hazards Do not operate the Sierra Wireless modem in areas where cellular modems are not advised without proper device certifications. These areas include environments where cellular radio can interfere such as explosive atmospheres, medical equipment, or any other equipment which may be susceptible to any form of radio interference. The Sierra Wireless modem can transmit signals that could interfere with this equipment. The driver or operator of any vehicle should not operate the Sierra Wireless modem while in control of a vehicle. Doing so will detract from the driver or operator s control and operation of that vehicle. In some states and provinces, operating such communications devices while in control of a vehicle is an offence. Limitations of Liability This manual is provided as is. 8 3. Removed Features 3.1. omg 1000 Support The omg 1000 is no longer supported in current releases of omg software. The last official release supporting omg 1000 is Restart WAN Manager option removed The Restart WAN Manager option on WAN Link Configuration in the LCI has been removed. Sierra Wireless has found that this recovery mechanism does very little to improve connection recovery and in some cases actually makes it worse. There remain several automated mechanisms for call recovery in the omg which will escalate up to rebooting the omg after 10 minutes if necessary. omg-ed Rev 1.4 July 23,

Addressed Problems Reference Problem Description PostLAN script rules lost after WAN Restart Firewall or Routing rules applied using a PostLAN script would be overwritten following a WAN Link Bounce and the PostLAN script would not be triggered to reapply them. Limited throughput in Host to LAN IPsec mode Customers utilizing the Host to LAN IPsec configuration option have reported extremely low throughput, in some cases as low as 300Kbps. Management Tunnel does not re-query DNS , 8262 When the Management Tunnel is reference by FQDN, the address was only resolved at boottime. Any change in the address of the omm would require a reboot of the omg for the management tunnel to function. Mascaraed Port settings changed during upgrade Upgrades from and earlier to 3.8 and later would result in Masquerade Port range setting being changed from Automatic to Manual. Special characters in root password accepted but not supported 8252 When the root password was modified using the LCI, users were permitted to enter special character (eg #$%) however these characters were not properly supported so the password would be truncated at the first occurrence, leaving the user unable to login with the new password. These character are now properly supported and may be used in passwords with the exception of the double-quote ( ) character. Source port of locally generated traffic masqueraded , , 8657, 8777, 8824 Locally generated traffic such as IPSec was subject to masquerade rules which would change the source port and in some case prevent data from reaching the destination due to how it was handled in some carrier networks. Conntrack entries flushed for all links When one of two links were bounced, the conntrack table was flushed for both links creating as temporary network outage unnecessarily Improvements to device configuration migration Several issues related to handling configuration migration (eg E362 MC7354) have been addressed in this release Improvements to configuration conversion Several issues related to handling configuration conversion from older versions have been addressed in this release Improvements to GPS jump filtering 8521 Improvements to the way that omg filters out impossible GPS movements have been added in this release. 10 omm Release Notes Addressed Problems Reference Problem Description 8598 Removed WiMAX Tab The removal of support for WiMax networks was announced in Rel 3.9, however the LCI interface was not updated until this release Malformed GPS Packets forwarded to AVL/CAD systems Some customer reported that the omg would occasionally send malformed GPS packets to their 3rd party AVL/CAD systems which resulted in errors on some of these systems. The omg now inspect all data from the GPS module prior to forwarding and discards any malformed packets. APN Display not update in LCI Status page When the WAN APN value is changed in the LCI configuration, the Expended Status page did not reflect that change until after a reboot. IPSec VPN disconnects every 58 minutes In Host-2-LAN IPSec configurations using IKEV2, the omg would experience a drop in VPN connection when attempting to Re-authenticate during the Re-Key sequence every 58 minute. MC7354 toggles between AT&T and Verizon mode An error in the way that the omg queried the MC7354 for the network carrier caused it to toggle between using Verizon and AT&T connection strings. IPSec PFS not working In release , an upgrade to the IPSec software inadvertently disabled Perfect Forward Secrecy resulting in failures to connect when this option was enabled on the VPN Gateway Road Safety Application not working Following the release of 3.12, the Road Safety Application stopped transmitting data to the RSI Server. Outstanding Problems Reference Problem Description 6855 VPN Status reported incorrectly In certain circumstances the omg may incorrectly report the status of the VPN particularly when there are multiple segments configured for the tunnel. Status of WiFi Access Point not displayed on LCI If the device used for WiFi-LAN is disabled, the Network configuration page for the AP will not reflect this status as was the case in earlier versions of software. There is no workaround for this issue. Access Point Can't be deleted If the device used for WiFi-LAN is disabled, the Access Point instance cannot be deleted. To work around this issue, Re-enable the Device and then delete the AP. IPSec IKE_SA Rekey fails after Link Switch 8320 If the omg switches between 2 links and subsequently issues an IKE_SA Rekey, the process will fail and the VPN will disconnect. This issue can be mitigated by extending the Rekey time, but it cannot be prevented. omg reports VPN down when connection switches between WAN interfaces 8405 The omg incorrectly reports to the omm that the VPN as down when a link switch occurs even if MOBIKE is enabled. This has the effect of generating misleading historical reports on the omm. There is no workaround for this issue. Dual cell configuration gets into a confused state 8412 As a result of timing issues with Ping Monitor failures, a dual-cellular configuration omg can get into a state where neither link can become the primary WAN interface nor will traffic be passed to the WAN.
