3 Release Notes 3 of 5 Functional changes The following is a list of functional changes for software applications version release 82 for Platform and BlackBerry Applications version Date and Time enhancements: simplified user interface to select BlackBerry or Network as the Date/Time source Attachment viewing enhancements: support for image and table preview within documents (requires BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 or later for table preview and BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 service pack 1 for image preview) Attachment viewing enhancements: support for multi page TIFF image attachments (requires BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 service pack 1or later) General usability enhancements: a new SMS option added to the Call option when manually typing a phone number Calculator enhancements: full QWERTY keypad calculator interface added to improve usability Release notes This section lists fixed issues for software applications version release 82 for Platform and BlackBerry Applications version SDR59273 SDR55364 SDR55067 SDR58502 SDR56877 SDR58086 SDR48976 SDR45656 SDR53605 SDR51422 SDR51319 Previously, if you were using a BlackBerry 7100g or BlackBerry 7290 Wireless Handheld in the San Diego, California area, your handheld might stay in SOS mode even though the network signal was strong. Previously, if you were using the handheld software on platform 1.8 and the network used Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) functionality, your handheld might reset during a phone call. Previously, in extremely rare situations, if you were using the handheld software on platform 1.8 and the network used Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) functionality, you might have heard a high-pitched sound when you answered a phone call. Previously, if your SIM card was provisioned for data only and you tried to make an emergency call to a number other than 911 or 112, you might not have been connected. Previously, if you received a phone call from a contact in your address book, the Incoming Call screen might not have displayed the number of the phone the contact was calling from. Instead, the Incoming Call screen might have displayed another number stored in the contact's address book entry. Previously, if you used the BlackBerry Browser to load a long series of web pages, it might have taken some time for the pages to load. While a web page was loading, the handheld might have reset or the handheld might have been triggered to free up space. Previously, if the radio was off and a third-party application attempted to access a locally cached HTTP web page, the handheld might have indicated that the content had expired. Previously, on HTML web pages, navigating between columns in HTML tables might have been difficult. Previously, if you were using a BlackBerry 7290 Wireless Handheld and you tried to open a link in the browser, a Java exception error might have occurred. Previously, if you downloaded an application to your handheld and tried to run it, the browser might have appeared in front of the application. Previously, in the Browser Configuration options, if the value in the Show Images field was set to No, and you were using the BlackBerry Browser or the WAP Browser to load a web page, when you

Previously, in rare cases, your system administrator might not have been able to apply an IT policy to your handheld if the policy key recognized by the handheld was a secondary key. Previously, if you were using a BlackBerry 7100 with SureType enabled as the text input method and you typed an apostrophe at the beginning of a memo, an error might have occurred. Previously, if you had recurring appointments with no end date, and you switched from Day view to Agenda view, the Organizing Calendar pop-up remained on the screen. Previously, in the calendar, if you selected the Go to Date menu option and typed January 1, 1970 in the dialog box that appeared, an error might have occurred. Previously, in the calendar's Agenda view, if you created new appointments at the same time on consecutive days, a Java exception error might have occurred. Previously, if you upgraded your handheld software, the calendar might not have been fully restored to your handheld. Previously, if you were using Lotus Notes as your desktop program, and you accepted a meeting request on your handheld, an error might have occurred and a red 'X' icon might have appeared next to the invitation in the message list. Previously, if you added a recurring appointment to your desktop calendar and then changed the appointment details on your handheld, the change might not have been made in the desktop calendar when the handheld and desktop synchronized. Previously, when the time zone on your handheld was set to Arizona, if, from the calendar's Week view, you opened a recurring appointment that was created before Daylight Savings Time (DST) came into effect, the start time might have been displayed incorrectly. Known issues This section lists known issues for software applications version release 82 for Platform and BlackBerry Applications version SDR56571 SDR62758 SDR59481 SDR57422 If you have set the option to display all call logs in the messages list and you make and receive many phone calls, the handheld might stop responding for a short period of time. Impact: The handheld might stop responding while it is organizing the messages and call logs. If you create a new filter and add a name in the From field using the address book or the lookup functionality, the filter might not work. Impact: Some messages might be forwarded to your BlackBerry device even though you want those messages to remain in your desktop program. Workaround: Type the name of the filter in the From field. If your system administrator creates an IT policy to disable the headset profile, and you try to pair with a Bluetooth-enabled device, you might see an error message indicating that your handheld is unable to pair with the Bluetooth-enabled device. Impact: You might not be able to pair with a Bluetooth-enabled device. If your system administrator has created an IT policy in which numeric or special characters are not allowed to be used in a password, and you create a password with a numeric or special character, the password might still be accepted.

5 Release Notes 5 of 5 Impact: You might be able to create a password with a forbidden character. SDR53861 If you are using your handheld in a time zone that does not observe Daylight Savings Time (DST) and you create a recurring all-day appointment in your desktop calendar, the last occurrence of the appointment might not appear in the handheld calendar after the desktop and handheld synchronize. Impact: You might not be aware of some appointments. Workaround: When you create an all-day appointment, choose a start date and an end date.
