3 Installation Downloading Download NetAdvantage for SharePoint here. Installation prerequisites Before you install NetAdvantage for SharePoint, make sure you have the following: Prerequisite Security admin server role access on the SQL instance and a db_owner role in a database Administrative permission on the local computer SharePoint Administration service running SQL Server SharePoint instance running Internet Explorer 6.0 or above installed or Mozilla FireFox 1.5 or above installed or Google Chrome installed Description db_owner role in the SharePoint content database and Security Admin Server role access on the SharePoint SQL instance Administrative permissions on the computer where NetAdvantage for SharePoint is being installed Used to perform administrative tasks for SharePoint An instance of the SQL Server running the SharePoint content database A web browser compatible with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Troubleshooting Following is a summary of the known issues that can be encountered during installation: 3 of 12

4 Issue Description Proposed Fix Error Message: Error occurred in deployment step Activate Features: Cannot start service SPUserCodeV4 on computer <servername>. Error Message: Error occurred in deployment step Activate Features: This feature cannot be activated at this time. The contents of the feature's solution requires the Solution Sandbox service to be running The SPUserCodeV4 service is not set to be started automatically or your account does not have access to start the service. Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service is not started in the Central Administration. Enable (if disabled) and then start the SPUserCodeV4 service. In SharePoint Central Administration, under System Settings, start Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code service. 4 of 12

5 What s New - Summary New features / web parts overview The following table summarizes the new features and web parts of the NetAdvantage for SharePoint release. Additional details are available in the text blocks following the summary table. Web Part The Chart web part is now fully based on jquery / HTML 5. New Feature New Feature New Feature Virtualization is a unique feature of the Grid web part that is simply stated as a technique that only renders visible parts of the grid to the user. Using this approach, the rendering overhead, both time and memory usage, remains constant regardless of the number of records that are data-bound. Various data series allow trend line for the depicted data to be calculated and displayed by the web part. Trend lines allow a trend or similarity with known mathematical functions to be visually identified in the visualized data. The zoom pane control allows the user to pan or to zoom the chart area. A minified version of the chart is displayed in the bottom right corner of the chart showing the region which is viewed. Common Web Part Web part s title could now be set from within the respective web part Editor. 5 of 12

6 Enhancements Added Help links, appearing as, to specific web part settings. Clicking on any one of these Help links will open a context specific Help in a new browser tab or window. These settings are configurable via their web part Editors. If you are wondering how you can setup something, or just a want to check for a quick reference, clicking on the help links icon leads you to the online web help for setting up the respective feature. Completely Revised Chart The Chart web part is now fully based on jquery / HTML 5. Using jquery and HTML 5 based web parts allows you to create sites that are cross-browser compatible and platform independent. 6 of 12

7 Grid Virtualization The virtualization feature is unique to the Grid web part, simply stated it is a technique that only renders visible parts of the grid to the user. Using this approach, the rendering overhead, both time and memory usage remains constant regardless of the number of data-bound records. Virtualization allows users to get faster results, even from large lists, regardless of your SharePoint throttling settings (resource throttling provides options to SharePoint administrators for monitoring and throttling server resources and large lists for Web applications). 7 of 12

8 Chart Trend Lines Various data series support using trend lines to depict and display calculated data within web parts. Trend lines visually identify trends or similarity with known mathematical functions in the visualized data. Chart Zoom Pane Control The zoom pane control allows the user to pan or to zoom the chart area. A miniature version of the chart displays in the lower right corner of the chart showing the region which is viewed. Having large amounts of data in a small area would prevent users from getting proper results. With the Zoom Pane Control, you can enlarge a specific area you are interested in and review results in detail. 8 of 12

9 Release Notes Concerned web parts Improvements and bug fixes Following are the bug fixes and improvements in the release. They concern the following web parts: Grid Chart Component Product Impact Description Grid Bug Fix Pre-filter for [today] clause for a Date column type was not working properly. Grid Bug Fix Fixed an issue with the fields of external lists - the Grid could not update a record if a record's field was ReadOnly. Chart Improvement The Chart web part is now fully based on jquery / HTML 5. Using jquery and HTML 5 based web parts allows you to create sites that are crossbrowser compatible and platform independent. 9 of 12

10 Chart Breaking Change Chart no longer supports custom label formatting. Once you update the web part, charts having a custom label formatting set their label format to None. Chart Breaking Change jquery web parts require defined Excel tables instead of ranges. If you are using an Excel table as a data source for the Chart web part, you will need to change Excel ranges to Excel tables. 10 of 12

This way we allow users without administrative privileges to the SharePoint farm to deploy and use the web parts on their web application, including SharePoint Online. Yes, you can. However, you need to deploy the web part manually. For more information, refer to Manual Deployment topic in the official documentation. Yes, you can configure your web parts to load data from external sources. The Chart, the Gauge, and the Map can use Microsoft Excel as their data source. Alternatively, all web parts can connect to any third party data provider, using the SharePoint Business Connectivity Services. No, your users will not need to re-configure the web parts once you have deployed the new versions. However, there are certain properties which were deprecated with this release.
