3 1 General StorMan (Storage Management) provides dynamic management of Storage Resources and their dynamic assignment to Servers in case of Virtualization and administration of storage resources - encapsulate device dependencies of multiple storage vendors and models - mapping virtual (StoragePools, StorIDs, etc.) to real resources Provisioning of storage resources -,LUN' creation and deletion -,LUN' mapping and masking Information about storage resources - discovery of storage arrays - volume configuration - physical components Monitoring - of status and resources - statistical and performance metrics Replication - local mirroring based on snap and clone technologies. This Release Notice is a summary of the major extensions, requirements and operating information with regard to StorMan V2.0. The release level is that of May 2009 Customers will receive an updated version of this file should any subsequent changes be made. This Release Notice is also available online under Ordering StorMan V2.0 is a component of the DDC (Dynamic Data Center) product portfolio or Server Management software or part of customer specific projects. The storage provisioning functionality of StorMan covers the high priority functions required for storage virtualization and dynamic storage provisioning, namely:. managing and administrating storage resources (storage volumes and pools) in a virtualization layer. LUN creation and deletion. LUN masking (managing the hosts access to volumes) These features are provided by StorMan's GUI and as CLI for automation support in scripts. StorMan V2.0 supports the Storage Provisioning features for Storage Systems FibreCAT CX / CLARiiON CX, Symmetrix and NetApp. The storage information and monitoring features are required for information and monitoring of storage arrays mainly for integration purposes, namely:. discovery. information about logical and physical components. monitoring of status StorMan V2.0 supports the information and monitoring features for storage systems FibreCAT SX and FibreCAT CX / CLARiiON CX integrated in ServerView Suite. The Statistics and Performance monitoring features provide information about io transfers (reads/writes per sec, KB read/written per sec, average IO times) on volume (LUN) level. The API is used by opensm2 Software. StorMan V2.0 supports the Statistical and Performance Monitoring features for Storage Systems FibreCAT CX / CLARiiON CX and Symmetrix DMX. The Replication Service features cover the information and management of local mirroring functions based on snap and clone technologies. StorMan V2.0 supports the Replication Service features for storage systems FibreCAT CX / CLARiiON CX used by SHC-OSD to integrate these storage systems in BS2000/OSD.

5 3 Technical information Resource requirements StorMan V2.0 requires up to 10 MB space on Windows and up to 30 MB on Linux (+ minimum 50 MB space for trace files). The minimum memory requirement amounts up to 20 MB of memory (configuration with 2 FibreCAT). The memory requirement amounts to 200 MB of memory (default configuration with 4 storage systems). 3.2 Software configuration Plattforms: StorMan is released for use on servers with: - WINDOWS Server 2003 Service Pack 2 - WINDOWS XP Service Pack 2 - WINDOWS Server SuSe Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 10 - SuSe Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9 - Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ES 4 - Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ES 5 - Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ES 5 only: The package compat-libstdc must be installed. It contains compatible standard C++ libraries. The package is available from your distributor or from their online upgrade support. - BS2000/OSD V8.0 SMI-S Provider EMC Storage - SMI-S Provider V3.3.2 for SMI-S V1.3 from EMC Corporation. As SMI-S Provider V3.3.2 is based on EMC Solutions Enabler, it contains the compatible EMC Solutions Enabler Version For further details of supported Symmetrix and CLARiiON CX / FibreCAT CX models, please refer to the EMC Support Matrix (ESM) and to EMC SMI-S Provider Version Release Notes available at for FibreCAT CX systems accessible for FibreCAT CX certified engineers of Fujitsu Technology Solutions at fibrecat/fibrecatcedownload. The following operating systems are supported (as of EMC Support Matrix): - Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 - Microsoft Windows Server Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ES 3.0 and SuSe Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9 SP3 and 10. Important note: SMI-S Provider V3.3.2 is supported only on 32-bit platforms.

6 FibreCAT SX Storage As the SMI-S Provider for FibreCAT SX Storage is 'embedded', it is delivered by default with the storage array as part of the microcode and enabled by default. This support is available as of version J200P08 and K100P Product installation The delivery of StorMan is made on DVD-ROM. On the DVD-ROM there are packages for installation on Linux and Windows environments. For installation on Linux use the rpm command, on Windows execute the setup file (see Chapter 2 in the StorMan V2.0 manual). 3.4 Product use The product use activities are described in the StorMan V2.0 manual Restrictions 3.6 Procedure in the event of errors If an error occurs, the following documentation is required for diagnostic purposes (see chapter 5.4 " Diagnostic aids " in the StorMan V2.0 manual): StorMan To have the best possible support in case of encountering problems during the usage of StorMan it is recommended to recreate the occurred problem if possible after setting the highest debug level on the StorMan server for the duration of recreation. To provide the current configuration data please use the StorMan CLI stormandb -dump. Afterwards please collect the following files situated in directory /var/opt/smawstor/storman for Linux environments and in %PROGRAMFILES%\...\StorMan for Windows environment and transmit them to your support organization: StorMan logging files stormantraceyyyy-mm-dd.txt in the directory./log for the concerned day(s) configuration file of the StorMan server smserver.ini in the directory./config. StorMan database StorMan.db in the directory./repository. saved StorMan database files AddData.sql and AddTables.sql (created by stormandb -dump) in the directory./backup: SMI-S Provider For general diagnostic information support of SMI-S Providers please refer to the Release Notes of the specific vendor.

7 4 Hardware support Server: StorMan V2.0 supports all current PRIMERGY servers as StorMan Clients and StorMan Servers. Storage: EMC Storage StorMan V2.0 supports the provisioning functions for the current FibreCAT CX / CLARiiON CX and Symmetrix DMX models as supported by SMI-S Provider V3.3.2 of EMC Corporation. StorMan V2.0 supports the statistic and performance features for the current FibreCAT / CLARiiON CX and Symmetrix DMX models as supported by SMI-S Provider V3.3.2 of EMC Corporation. StorMan V2.0 supports the information and monitoring functions required primarily for integration with ServerView for the current FibreCAT CX / CLARiiON CX models as supported by SMI-S Provider V3.3.2 but not for Symmetrix and Symmetrix DMX storage of EMC Corporation. StorMan V2.0 supports the replication service functions required primarily for integration with SHC-OSD V7.0 for the current FibreCAT CX / CLARiiON CX models as supported by SMI-S Provider V3.3.2 as of Flare Code release 26. NetApp Storage StorMan V2.0 supports the provisioning functions for the current NetApp FAS models as supported by ManageONTAP API V FibreCAT SX Storage StorMan V2.0 supports the information and monitoring functions required primarily for integration with ServerView for the current FibreCAT SX models SX60, SX80, SX88 and SX100. This support is based on the embedded SMI-S Provider available as of microcode version J200P08 and K100P11 respectively.
