4 FLOWCHART WALKTHROUGH Is Issue PXE Related When the issue is PXE related, the first step is to flash bios Since it is highly possible that newer bios is equipped with later PXE ROM firmware. Can the System Detect Lan/Modem under Device Manager? In some cases like system having Intel Poulsbo chipset (MSI X320), you need to plug-in the power or insert LAN cable into the Lan port to enable LAN device, unless you are under AC mode or LAN cable is connected, you can never see the status of the LAN. Check Procedures / Set-Up and Configurations The following procedures assume that the connection has been operating properly prior to this problem, and you have already: Verified that the station does not have any hardware failures. Verified that required network cables are present and properly connected. Verified that the network adapter is not disabled, and has valid addressing for the subnet (static or DHCP). Check also to see what the operating system NIC status reports for frames sent and received, if either is zero then investigate. Verified that nothing has been recently changed on the problem station, or on the server or service that may have caused this problem, such as reconfiguring or adding new software or hardware. Eliminated potential station memory allocation problems and software conflicts on the station by loading only the minimum software required to operate a test application across the network. For this test disable any virus checking or security software, but turn it right back on after the test. Note: Connections that drop may be caused by the same conditions that prevent a connection from being established in the first place. Consider also any of the situations described under the cannot connect heading. Update Bios and EC Firmware Majority of the bugs are being solved by updating bios or ec firmware, therefore please guide users to flash BIOS and EC using the SOP provided below. Then, check whether the issue has been resolved, if not process to the next step. Requirements: - Bootable flash drive - System bios (check MSI official website and download the corresponding bios for your system For Example: 4 BT Trouble Shooting Procedure

5 1. Go to 2. On the upper right side, you can see a search bar, and then type in model name like GT Go to bios tab download the bios 4. Verify the current version of your system bios, perhaps you already have the latest one. Step 1: Press DEL key upon boot up Step 2: Go to Main tab Step 3: Select System Information Bios flashing procedure Note: Please make sure that your system is plugged in (running AC mode) Step 1: Unpack the download bios compressed file to your bootable flash drive. Step 2: Upon boot up press function key F11 continuously until you enter the boot device option: 5 BT Trouble Shooting Procedure

6 Step 3: When system enters DOS mode, look for the bios file (where it is located), and then run flash.bat (Without the quotes) Step 4: Shut down after flashing process is complete. Some bios has their command with auto shutdown. Step 5: Unplug both battery and AC adapter. Step 6: Wait for 10 seconds or longer. Step 7: Plug in battery or AC adapter to power on system. Step 8: Load BIOS default value, then press F10 to save it and exit. RMA Inform user to prepare the system for RMA when all the above recommendation cannot resolve the problem. RMA Database Verification Verify if the issue experienced can be found in the RMA website then apply repair solution if necessary. Swap MB Change the system s motherboard as last resort. If problem continue to persist, report issue to FAE. Report to FAE Report issue to your corresponding FAE if issue still remain unsolved.
