Overview CloudView is a standards based network management application. It can discover and perform many functions with virtually any vendor SNMP or TCP/IP devices. It provides you with the consistent view of your whole network, helps with its configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting. It is a client-server system which allows secure performing NMS functions by multiple remote users simultaneously. CloudView Pro is a full featured version of CloudView. CloudView Trial is a limited time period trial version of CloudView CloudView server can run on any MS Windows higher than Windows XP. This includes WinXP/Win2003/Win2008/WinVista/WinServer/Win7/Win8. Additionally CloudView rich GUI (graphical user interface) can be accessed via web based clients from ANY platform remotely (see below). There are two different ways that GUI can be accessed: 1. Local GUI is provided on the same computer that is running CloudView server. 2. Remote Web-Console GUI can be accessed from any computer/tablet/phone, any OS, including Linux, Mac OS, Android phones/tablets, iphone/ipad, and Win8 phones/tablets. There is NO specific client software required. Just point your web browser to Address>", where <IP Address> is IP Address of the computer running CloudView Server, e.g.: " If your browser supports Java you will see fullblown windows-based GUI interface. If there is no Java, you will see HTML5-based "emulated windows GUI. Additionally for Android and Apple mobile devices the dedicated downloadable app can be used (see below). CloudView is designed with the network manager in mind. By using built-in tools for monitoring up-to-the minute information and statistics, and reconfiguring the system as network requirements grow and evolve, you can maintain a network that operates at peak performance maximum throughput, network stability, and minimal downtime. The underlying polling engine is extremely efficient and allows managing/monitoring of network nodes converting a simple desktop Windows PC into powerful network management server. The server is accessible remotely via rich GUI Web Console. It can be used in both enterprise and service provider networks with carrier-grade reliability. CloudView Pro platform requirements Please refer to the read.me file in CloudView installation directory for the most current platform requirements.

Quick Start 1. It is recommended to reboot MS-Windows before installing CloudView Pro. Also please make sure that no CloudView version is running. 2. Install CloudView Pro by running "gnmssetupxxxx.exe" from CloudView Pro Installation Kit via "Start"/"Run" function of MS Windows. Follow instructions on the screen. This is a standard MS-Windows installation.

3. Start CloudView via "Start"/"All Programs"/"CloudView"/"CloudView Pro" menu item of MS- Windows. The "Login" window appears.

To login after installation: Enter Admin as "User Name" and press OK with NO password. 4. Because it is your first time starting, the "License Password" request window will appear. You need to enter your license password in order to continue. This password is uniquely connected to the hardware of the PC running CloudView Pro. You can obtain your license password via from cloudviewnms.com. Your request for password must include the computer specific code which is shown in the "License Password" window and CloudView Serial Number (received when you purchased CloudView). 5. Use CloudView Main Menu "Map"/"Autodiscovery" or "Edit"/"Add" functions to add devices icons to the CloudView map.

The device icons colors mean: a. Green (OK): the device communication status is OK. b. Red (Critical): there is no communication with the device. c. Gray (Unknown): the device communication status is unknown. d. Yellow (Warning): there are some warnings about this device in the alarm log. e.. Purple (Informational): there are some info messages about this device in the alarm log. f. Orange (Major): there are some major messages about this device in the alarm log. 6. Use "Edit"/"Add Link", "Map"/"Set Background Image", "Edit"/"Add Device"(SUBMAP) to create links, submaps and get the realistic view of your network. 7. Use "Internet Options"/" configuration" and "Options"/"Alarms Configuration to configure alarms and notifications. Use "Monitor/Services Monitor" to monitor mission-critical network services, such as , FTP, e-commerce, etc. 8. In order access CloudView Server functions via Web Console you must leave your CloudView Pro running all the time (24x7). You may reconfigure the HTTP port value via "Internet options"/"set HTTP Port". (By default this port is 80). You may need to configure another value if you have another web server application (like Microsoft Internet Information Server) running on the same PC.

9. You may use the Web Console from any computer, which is connected to the Internet/Intranet. Start the Web Browser and point it to the following URL: a. If you did not reconfigure the HTTP port value (it is 80 by default) enter: " b. If you reconfigured the HTTP port value (e.g. port=2000) enter: " (where a.b.c.d is the IP Address of the PC running CloudView Pro, e.g.: ) Your Web Browser will show the "Remote Console" Login/Password window. Please, note that the "password" is the same "password" which is used the CloudView Pro Login window. By default, after installation the Admin's password is Empty String, so you may just press the "Login" button. 10. On the server computer, you may need to open Windows Firewall for the TCP port used for web access (usually it is HTTP port 80 and HTTPS port 443). See Start->Settings- >Control Panel->Windows Firewall. If you are concerned about security, please, see the CloudView "Web Server Config" window above. Additionally this window allows to configure "while list" of the IP Addresses which are allowed to be Web Clients.

11. Tip: While working with remote console via web browser there maybe physical network problems or too slow Internet connection which can lead to the session canceling because of timeouts. User is required to enter his password again to be connected to the server and continue the work (security reasons). All the previous session windows may stay on the screen, though they are not usable any more. In that case it is recommended to close Web Browser and enter it again BEFORE entering a new session. This will automatically close all the previous session windows. Login Window, Starting CloudView This is the first window you see when you start CloudView. Enter Admin as User Name and the password assigned to the user SUPERVISOR. Note that the default password which is assigned to Admin after installation is empty, so you may just click OK.

User with the name Admin is a special administrative account in CloudView. It is analog of root in Unix/Linux or Administrator in MS Windows. For security reasons, it is recommended to change SUPERVISOR password later via Change Password window (see later). Note also that the same account credentials are used for SUPERVISOR access via Web Console from remote computers (see later). You can bypass the startup Login Window and start CloudView without operator intervention, by setting corresponding check-box in Change Password window. Also the startup Login Window is not shown when you start CloudView as Windows service (see later). Running CloudView as Windows Service There is ability to run CloudView as Windows service. The main purpose of this feature is to allow automatically restart CloudView when the server reboots. To use, select "Start->All Programs->CloudView->Run CloudView as Windows Service". The first time you run CloudView as a service, it will also install the service. After that, you can start/stop/configure the service via Right-mouse-click on My Computer"->"Manage"->"Services And Applications" and scroll to "CloudViewService". In order to run CloudView as a Service on Windows Vista, you need also start Interactive Services Detection Service" which is specific for Vista. If you do not start the above Service on Windows Vista, CloudView Service still runs OK, but you will not see the Main CloudView window and correspondingly there will be impossible to configure GNMS server "locally". CloudView Main Window The CloudView main window is the major gateway to all monitoring and control functions of devices on your network. It provides GUI access to all the CloudView functions when working locally from the CloudView server. Working locally also includes working via Microsoft Remote Console, so the world locally simply means that native Windows GUI is used. Note also that many of these functions (though not all of them) are also accessible remotely via Java Based Web Console. The main window contains the map/submap - the graphical representation of your network. Each device that has been correctly added to the map appears as an icon with its device

name. Double-clicking an icon opens the Device main window, which allows access to additional functions connected to monitoring or controlling this device. Choosing an icon makes that device the current device. Additional commands are available through cascading menus of the menu bar, or by using the shortcut icons under the menu items. Note, that you may move devices icons on the map with your mouse by dragging them into the desired location. Seventeen shortcut icons appear under the menu bar. From left to right, their functions are: 1. Add a device. 2. Delete the current device. 3. Add a link. 4. Delete the current link. 5. Copy the selected device to buffer (for later paste) 6. Cut: copy and remove the selected device from the map. 7. Paste previously cut/copied device. 8. Open the Describe window for the selected device. 9. Open the SNMP Device Identify window for the selected device. 10. Open the ARP Table for the selected device. 11. Open the Devices List/Network Inventory window which shows all the devices an all maps/submaps and their main parameters. 12. Open the Current Alarms Log window (shows current/active alarms) 13. Open the History Alarms Log window (shows alarms history, based on SQL Database) 14. Zoom-In : increases size of all icons of the current map (if it was decreased before)

15. Zoom-Out : decreases size of all icons of the current map. 16. Open Upper Map : - navigate to the map/submap, which contains current submap as an expandable icon 17. Open general CloudView Help screen Refer to the relevant sections of this manual for more information on the above functions. Some notes about Main CloudView Window Generic SNMP/TCPIP device types allow you to manage any SNMP/TCPIP compliant device see Generic Devices section for more information. Current devices are highlighted and tiled. As a shortcut, you can right-click on a device to open the device specific menu window. Current link is highlighted. Double-click on any link name to open the Link Describe window. See later for more information on links. You can drug and drop any device icon into a submap icon. Double-click on a submap icon to open the corresponding submap. If a device is colored gray, CloudView does not have any information about it (it is currently being polled). Devices are gray immediately after CloudView is loaded, or just after you have added it to the map. After the device has been polled, one of the color states is assigned to it. a. Green (OK): the device communication status is OK. b. Red (Critical): there is no communication with the device. c. Gray (Unknown): nown): the device communication status is unknown. d. Yellow (Warning): there are some warnings about this device in the alarm log. e.. Purple (Informational): there are some info messages about this device in the alarm log. f. Orange (Major): there are some major messages about this device in the alarm log. Using Passwords, Adding/Managing Remote Users Changing main SUPERVISOR password is required for security reasons. Note, that the same account is available via Web Console. From the CloudView Main Window menu choose Options->Change Password: The Change Password Window opens.

Enter your correct old password in the Old Password field. If you are doing this operation first time: since the default SUPERVISOR password after installation is empty string, you may just press Tab in the Old Password field. Enter your new password in the New Password field. Enter your new password in the Verify Password field for confirmation. To bypass the Login window at server startup, uncheck the Password Required check box. Press OK button to apply your changes. In order to add some additional user accounts, which are used for remote access please use Add/Delete Users Window. It is accessible via Main Window Menu under Options item.

This window allows configuring remote CloudView users and their respective passwords. Users may be one of following Access Types: SUPERVISOR, USER and ServiceProvider Customer. For SUPERVISOR users, NMS allows changes in configuration and parameters of the network objects. Note that there is one (and only one) special SUPERVISOR access type user, which has the name SUPERVISOR as well. Only this SUPERVISOR is allowed to modify configuration information and add/delete other CloudView users. For USER type users, NMS enables viewing the network configuration and device status, but USER can not make any changes in the network or NMS configuration - he is merely a passive viewer. For ServiceProvider Customer type users, NMS enables viewing only certain interfaces/ports which belong to certain predefined network devices. Usually the ports define the service path which is used to provide the service for this user. Please see description of Services Monitoring Window later in this manual. This type of users is tightly connected to the Generic Services Monitoring Application which is one of the functions included in CloudView. The table shows all the configured users and their respective Access Types. To delete a user, select it from the list and click on the Delete button. To add a new user, enter the required data in the Adding New User section and click on the Add New User button. Note that you must enter the new user password twice to verify it. You must use the same user/password combinations in order to login via Internet in Web Console mode.

Please note: You cannot change password or Access Type for any existing user. Using local server GUI, you can change the password for the main SUPERVISOR-SUPERVISOR only (See Change Password Window above). Changing passwords for all other users can be done only via remote Web console (of course, the user must first login with Web Browser using correct old password). For security reasons, it is recommended to change the default password for the main SUPERVISOR user (the one which has the name SUPERVISOR ), which is configured automatically after installation. It is possible to create multiple user profiles with restricted access rights. For example, you can limit the number of maps/submaps managed by any particular user. Just select the corresponding user line in the table and click on the Submaps Access Restrictions. Double-Click on any user line will open detailed User Configuration Window which allows to configure additional details about the account, including participation in one or more groups. Adding Maps Background Images You may add map background image by selecting Map->Set Map Background Image item from the Main Window menu or via Set Map Background Image item of the popup menu which opens by right mouse click on any empty place on the map. Note that CloudView comes with a set of ready geographical images (bmp and gif files) which can be used.

Device Main Window When you double click on any device on the CloudView map (or click on the device image in Web Console), the device s main window is displayed. The window provides you with access to sets of Control Windows that contain additional configuration and performance information for this device. If the device supports SNMP/TCPIP, it has SNMP/TCPIP Communication status icon, which is usually located in the upper right part of the window. This icon indicates whether there is SNMP/TCPIP communication with the device. Green color icon means that the communication status is OK. Red color icon means that there is no SNMP/TCPIP communication with the device (the device is probably down: in that case the high level device icon on the CloudView map is red as well).

Control Windows The Device Main Window provides access to a set of Control Windows, through which the Network Manager can perform remote control operations on the managed devices, change the device parameters. Although control windows come in a variety of layouts and perform different functions, most have a common set of features as can be seen in the following Interface Information Window.

Control Windows generally have OK and Cancel ancel/close buttons. Clicking on the Cancel ancel/close button will close the window without sending any changes to the device. Clicking on the OK button will send changes (if any) to the device and close the window if the device accepted the changes, otherwise there will be an error message. No changes will be sent to a managed device until user presses the OK button. When you see an item with a letter underlined, you can use a keyboard shortcut instead of the mouse to select the item. Press the alt key and the underlined letter. Graphs Support You can graphically view counters data as speedometer, line, or bar graphs. These alternate views of data make it easier to analyze and compare statistics at a glance. A tiling option allows you to neatly line up several graphic windows on the screen. Statistics in any window that contains the Graphics image can be viewed as a graph. The Interfaces/Ports button will open a graph window, which allows seeing graphs for all the counters per selected port/interface. The Cnts button will open a graph window, which allows seeing graphs for all the ports per selected counter.

Below is an example of a window with graph support. Whenever you encounter a window with graphic support elements, counter data can be viewed as a speedometer, line or bars graph. Speedometer type of display shows the instantaneous value of a selected counter in a speedometer-like window. The window contains a moving indicator, the counter category, and the current value. This view is most helpful during situations such as excessive collisions, where you need to adjust system parameters to improve traffic flow. Click on the Spdm check box next to a desired counter to open a Speedometer graph for this counter.

The Optn button opens the Speedometer Options dialog box. These options allow you to reconfigure the speedometer. The band between the Critical value and the Max value changes to red on speedometer. The line graphs provide a wide variety of options for monitoring and comparing data. In its simplest form, one graph for each counter is displayed in separate windows showing current activity. When you open a line graph window, the selected counter s activity is dynamically recorded in one polling interval increments on the graph. Line graphs are especially useful for highlighting trends. Click the Line check box for the counter you wish to view. A line graph for the counter displays. Screenshot below illustrates the Input Bytes activity for port 2.

For more sophisticated analysis and comparison, multiple line graphs up to 16 linear graphs can be included in a single window. You can view statistics in many configurations: same counter for different ports (Cnts button); different counters for a single port (Ports button); different counters for different ports (Change the port value); To view another counter in the same window, click the Line check box for that counter. To view another counter in another window, choose New Windows in the Add Graphs As section, then click the Line check box for that counter. A line graph for the counter displays in a new window.

For some statistic-to-graph conversions, you will need to use the multiply coefficients to properly scale graph lines, especially when you use two counter categories, where values might have large differences. By entering a multiply coefficient for a counter, its current graph value is multiplied by the coefficient. This allows you to view several counters that have different dimensions in one graph window, for example, Received Bytes and Transmitted Packets. Buttons located below the graph (Figure 11a) allow you to obtain further information and provide options for additional window configuration. Stop - Halts recording of statistics on a graph. To resume drawing, click on the button again. Help - Provides a brief description of graphics support features. Options - Opens the Graph Options dialog box. Please, note that these options allow you to reconfigure the Lines graph window parameters and polling interval for the parent window.

1. Polling Interval Changes the value for the Lines graph main window and its parent 2. Min Y, Max Y, Min t, Max t Changes the scaling ranges for the Y-axis and X (t) axis. If you check Automatic Change of Ranges, changes are made automatically. NOTE: For graphs, where the X-axis indicates time, the X check box should be always checked. Sometimes it is better to turn off the Y check box, especially when graphs have peaks. 3. Show in the graph Change these values to correspond to the type of statistic a graph contains. For example, Absolute Value (number of packets), Relative to X (packets/second), Value in percents (same function as Absolute Value, but data ranges from 0 to 100%) Legend - Opens a sub-window that displays the current statistics: category, time elapsed, and value. Category names and port numbers are color-coded corresponding to lines on the graph. Grid - Adds a grid to the graph. To delete the grid, click on the button again. In addition to Line and Speedometer Graphs, CloudView also supports bar graphs. You can display data from any counter with bars. You can add data from a counter to an existing bar graph (default), or generate a new graph Use bar graphs for comparing the relative amounts of two or more values. The basic rules for configuring bar graphs are the same as for line graphs.

The buttons at the bottom of the window have the same function as those in the line graphs window.

Events Alarms are activated by status changes in network devices. When CloudView detects a change in a device, it generates an alarm. A beep (or custom assigned sound) is sounded and the alarm is recorded in the Alarm Log, indicating the date and time, the device in which it occurred, the severity, and a short description of the reason for the alarm. An alarm is also reflected in the device icon the icon color changes according to the severity of the alarm. Alarms have four severity levels, each represented by a different color: Critical, Warning, Normal, and Informational. Please note that a lot of alarms are actually generated by SNMP Traps, which are sent by different network devices. In addition to an audible sound notifying you of an alarm condition, the color of a device icon corresponds to the latest alarm with the highest severity. When an event received cancels any previously received alarm, and the color of the icon is updated to reflect the new status of the device. a. Green (OK): OK status alarms/messages. b. Red (Critical): Critical status alarms (usually means the device is down). c. Gray (Unknown): Unknown alarms. d. Yellow (Warning): Warning status alarms. e.. Purple (Informational): Info status alarms. f. Orange (Major): Major status alarms. Alarm notifications may be received via as well (see below). There are two alarms log maintained by CloudView. Current Alarms Log: this is the log of current alarms only (according to alarms correlation algorithm, see later). History Alarms Log based on SQL DB contains all the alarms. Choose the Monitor/CurrentAlarm Log item from the Main Window menu. The Current Alarm Log window opens.

Choose the Monitor/History Alarm Log item from the Main Window menu. The History Alarm Log window opens
