RMS Check Avails RMS Report Permissions Permissions to access RMS reports are assigned by Active Directory Groups. Each RMS user must be a previously defined Novar user for the database(s) to which the RMS system will be connected. Also, each RMS user must be assigned to an Active Directory Group. Users do not need to be assigned access to Novar other than being entered into the Novar system. #Appendix A RMS Permissions Worksheet contains a worksheet template to assist with defining Active Directory Groups. The RMS users assigned to an Active Directory Group(s) will be given permission (by Active Directory Group) to access RMS folders, sub-folders, and reports during the process of configuring the NovarConfig.xml. Permissions for accessing RMS folders and reports can be defined in several ways: Active Directory Group(s) can be assigned permission to access all RMS report folders, sub-folders, and their related reports. Active Directory Group(s) can be assigned permission to access only specific RMS report folders, sub-folders, and the reports in these folders. Active Directory Group(s) can be assigned permission to access only specific RMS subfolders and the reports in these sub-folders. Active Directory Group(s) can be assigned permission to access only one or more specific RMS Reports. By default, members of the NovarAdmin Active Directory Group have access to all RMS folders, sub-folders, and RMS reports. An RMS Report Permissions Worksheet must be completed and approved by the customer s business leadership prior to actually installing RMS. This information is required and will be utilized during the process to configure the NovarConfig.xml. Configure RMS within the Web Service This section relates to configuring RMS within the web service by configuring NovarConfig.xml for the customer. Each RMS system is shipped with a default NovarConfig.xml file that must be customized for each RMS customer. The default file will contain nodes for all RMS functionality and is usually a copy of the development NovarConfig.xml. Configuring NovarConfig.xml defines for RMS, the customer s domain, site, data source, Novar database, data driven subscriptions, and the RMS report folders, sub-folders, and reports plus which Active Directory Groups have access to which report folders, sub-folders, and reports. When the RMS SSRS installation is performed later, NovarConfig.xml is used to create the RMS catalog structure and includes the reports within that structure. Therefore, the reports defined in the NovarConfig.xml will appear in the RMS Navigator panel. The NovarConfig.xml also defines the RMS catalog security for the Active Directory Groups Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 90 of 160

RMS Check Avails IMPORTANT NOTE: If the customer has not purchased a separate software license for the RMS Gatekeeper 3rd Party Billing functionality, do not define it in the NovarConfig.xml. If it is defined in the default NovarConfig.xml that you receive, remove these nodes. Along with assistance from Imagine Communications Support, the customer is responsible for defining the configuration item entries. The configuration definitions will be unique for each RMS customer. Imagine Communications Support is responsible for making all modification entries to the configuration in NovarConfig.xml. An overview of the NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart, configuration preparation notes, a description of the NovarConfig.xml structure, a depiction of the initial steps, and the main NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart are included in this section to assist with understanding how to configure NovarConfig.xml in order to achieve the customer's desired results for RMS. After the main NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart, two additional charts are presented. The first one provides additional detail for Snapshot capable reports and the second one for Data Driven Subscriptions. NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart Overview Each step in the main NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart is numbered. Many steps require that you make multiple configuration modifications/entries. The content of the Configuration Entries column in the NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart will closely resemble the default NovarConfig.xml received with RMS 5.14 software. The example entry modifications that are required for a customer's unique environment are highlighted by bold red font. The example entry modifications where there are multiple entry options are highlighted by blue font. These options are also listed and described. Normal black font means that the configuration is being shown for information purposes only and must not be modified. The information in the Explanation column of the NovarConfig.xml Configuration explains the entries that need to be modified for the customer's specific requirements. This information is also intended to provide the installer with an understanding of how the system will use the unique entries that will be made for the customer. The Active Directory Group (ADG) names in the chart are examples only. The customer is not required to use these ADG names. The example ADG names are Business, Sales, and Traffic. IMPORTANT NOTE: The NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart provides example XML nodes and entries for all RMS reports available in version 6.0. If you are using this document to configure an earlier version, some nodes will not apply Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 91 of 160

RMS Check Avails NovarConfig.xml Configuration Preparation It is recommended that Imagine Communications Support and the customer review the NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart to predetermine the customer's unique entries. The RMS Report Permissions Worksheet will be used throughout this process to assign the desired ADG's to the desired folders, sub-folders, and report names. NOTE: Subscription and History sub-folders are not configured; they are automatic. Every report will automatically have a Subscription sub-folder. These are not shown for every report in the screen print below. Only Snapshot reports will automatically have a History sub-folder. The order of the RMS folders, sub-folders, and report names may not be modified. Therefore, the NovarConfig.xml lists them in this order. The following screen print provides a view of the RMS 6.0 navigator panel to show what an RMS user with access to all RMS reports will see. A few report names are outlined in red Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 93 of 160

RMS Check Avails NovarConfig.xml Structure The XML node structure MUST NOT be modified, except for the following purposes: 1. Creating additional nodes when more than one Novar database is to be connected to RMS. The example in the NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart depicts one database. Additional definitions for additional Novar databases may be added and must include all configuration elements and valid entries from and including the <MenuItem SiteLabel="& ADS_CITY_514"> tag (see step 3) through and including the </MenuItem> tag (see step 13 in the main NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart). Each additional Novar database would be added at the next line immediately after </MenuItem> (see step 13) and before </DataSetMenu> (see step 14). 2. Including more Active Directory Group <GroupPrefix> tags and/or for <GroupName> tags may be required by the customer. They may be added for each folder, subfolder, and report. The following is an example of two ADG's. If more than two are required, they can be added as needed. 3. Removing the nodes that define one or more RMS report, Snapshot reports, and/or Data Driven Subscriptions may be necessary if the customer does not want to use that RMS functionality and the report should not appear in the RMS Navigator pane. IMPORTANT NOTE: As stated previously, if the customer has not purchased a separate software license for the RMS XML Composite functionality, remove these nodes if the default NovarConfig.xml contains them. IMPORTANT NOTE: The NovarConfig.xml Configuration Chart does not present the nodes in the correct format from an indentation perspective. Also some blank lines have been added for readability. When adding a definition node(s), use the tab key to correctly align the additions and do not include blank lines Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 95 of 160

RMS Check Avails NovarConfig.xml Configuration Steps It is strongly recommended that you make a copy of the NovarConfig.xml file prior to beginning these steps in the event you wish to view the default file or need to start over. Save this copy with a different name in a different location. If you need to use it to start over, copy it and rename it to NovarConfig.xml. 1. Go to the RMSWebServices folder on the server hosting the RMS web service. 2. Open the folder and right click on NovarConfig.xml. 3. Select Open With and Notepad, then the default NovarConfig.xml configuration will appear. 4. Make modifications to the configuration entries per the customer s requirements. 5. When all steps are complete, save the modifications, and then close the Notepad window. You may want to make a backup copy. The backup copy must be given a different name Imagine Communications Corp. 127 RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration These steps will install and build the SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) catalog portion of RMS. Preparation When the install and build is performed, the user performing this step must have sufficient rights to create and modify data driven subscriptions. This user must be defined prior to performing the following steps. Install and Build the RMS Catalog Installing and building the RMS catalog is accomplished by running the RMS_SSRS_Installer.bat. Note: The username with sufficient rights to create and modify data driven subscriptions must be used for this process. 1. Double-click to run the RMS_SSRS_Installer.bat. 2. The install window will open and the batch file process will run. It will display the steps as they are processed. 3. If any errors occur, they will be displayed during processing Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 127 of 160

RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration Note: Soap errors may occur due to existing data driven subscriptions. They will need to be deleted via the MS SQL Server Management Studio. The steps to do this are in the next sub-section. 4. When the batch file process is complete, it pauses and displays a count of the errors (if any). 5. The user can browse back through the display to see the individual errors (if any). However, because the display holds a limited number of characters, all errors may not be viewable via this means. It is recommended that the log file be reviewed because it will provide error details that help troubleshoot and remediate the errors. 6. When the batch file process is run and there are no errors (Message = RMS SSRS catalog built with no exceptions), press Enter to close the install window. 7. In the Report Manager URL, ensure that the SSRS root has created in the home folder and the RDL is uploaded correctly Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 128 of 160

RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration Review the.log File 1. The.log file(s) will be located in the SSRS folder. A log file is created each time the batch process is run. 2. Open with Notepad, the log file with the time stamp that reflects the time that the batch process was run for which errors occurred Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 129 of 160

RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration 3. Browse the file to find the exceptions. A partial screen print of a.log file is shown below with SOAP EXCEPTIONS. 4. If the exceptions relate to subscriptions (see red underline), it is likely that existing data driven subscriptions exist that must be deleted. This would only occur in a version upgrade. Remediate SOAP Exceptions Due to Existing Data Driven Subscriptions 1. Open the MS SQL Server Management Studio. 2. Double click on Home Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 130 of 160

RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration 3. Double click on the filename which contains the RMS files. 4. Double click on the Novar database name (DataSourceName specified in NovarConfig.XML) to which you have connected the RMS system. If multiple databases have been connected, you will need to repeat these steps for each one Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 131 of 160

RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration 5. Double click on the folder name in which the RMS report with a SOAP error resides. The folder names represent the RMS Navigator tree of folders. Since the SOAP errors shown in the previous example were for the Contract Confirmation and Sales Confirmation reports, the following screen print specifies the Contracts folder Imagine Communications Corp. 133 RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration 6. Double click the appropriate report name. This example is for the Contract Confirmation report Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 133 of 160

RMS SSRS Installation & Configuration 7. Double click the Subscriptions folder. 8. If there are existing data driven subscriptions listed, delete them and then re-run the RMS_SSRS_Installer.bat. 9. If there are no existing data driven subscriptions, please contact Novar Support to ask for assistance creating a subscription for the required report. Configure Custom XML Datasource Connection Reports that use XML Data Source (Web services) must have an additional custom datasource connection created that will establish a URL link to the Web Service. Both Check Avails Client and Check Avails Contract require this. Both reports are located under the Inventory Folder of the installed Catalog. The applicable RDL files and folders should have been installed by Step 7 above (Install and Build the RMS Catalog section). The following steps will configure the customer XML datasource connection for each of these reports. 1. Open Reporting Services from SQL Server Management Studio. 2. Expand the DataSources folder under the applicable Check Avails RDL. 3. Right click to view properties for XMLDataSource Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential Page 134 of 160
