1 Release Notes for WinMark Pro version ECO1234 Dated 04/12/2016 Remove USB Hardlock functionality from WinMarkPro V6 software. OPERATING SYSTEM: WinMark Pro version 6.3 software is intended for use only with Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8, Vista, and XP operating systems. WinMark Pro version 6.3 is compatible with all SYNRAD FH Flyer Marking Heads and Fenix Flyer Laser Markers. This version is NOT compatible with Flyer 3D. Winmark 7 is required for Flyer 3D. WinMark Pro version software is not tested for compatibility with FH Series Index and Tracker Marking Heads and is not intended for use with marking heads using an ISA-bus Fiber Link Controller Card (FLCC). The 32-bit FLCC Device Driver will not run on 64-bit Operating Systems. WinMark Pro Requirements: Windows 7, Windows 8, Vista, or XP Operating Systems 64-MB RAM 70-MB of free hard drive space One CD-ROM drive One Ethernet port or USB port for Flyer communications. See the Microsoft website for a list of minimum hardware requirements for your particular OS. IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES: With Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8, Vista, and XP operating systems, programs must be installed or uninstalled by an individual with Administrator privileges. Because of this behavior, WinMark Pro s registry access permissions are initially set to Administrator by the WinMark installer when it sets the startup language. The installer does not support different access levels for registry keys so these must be changed by the program. WinMark Pro v6 is a Microsoft.NET Framework-based application. During installation, WinMark Pro v6 will install.net Framework files onto your computer, if they do not currently exist. If WinMark Pro is uninstalled,.net files are not removed, because these files may now be used by other applications installed after the original WinMark installation. INSTALLATION: Note: While the Flyer Head provides a USB port, SYNRAD highly recommends the use of Ethernet communications instead of USB in production situations where the Flyer head is operated in WinMark control mode. The Ethernet protocol is better designed for noise immunity and continuous data transfer between devices.

2 1) Before installing or upgrading WinMark Pro version 6 software, remove power from the Flyer head or disconnect the USB cable. If the head is still active, a Windriver error occurs, prompting you to Retry after unplugging the USB cable. 2) Backup all mark files and uninstall the previous version of WinMark Pro. 3) Exit all programs and turn off any antivirus software. 4a) To install WinMark Pro on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows Vista operating systems, rightclick the setup.exe file and choose Run as Administrator.... Note: After installation on Windows Vista, you may still be required to log on as the Administrator in order to perform certain functions like file importation or saving custom date code formats. 4b) To install WinMark Pro on Windows XP operating systems, double-click the setup.exe file. 5) If Microsoft.NET Framework Service Pack 1 is not installed on the computer, the installer will ask you to click Accept to install the.net Framework. You must have this program installed to run WinMark Pro. 6) When the.net Framework installation is complete, reboot if prompted to do so. Otherwise the WinMark installer will continue. 7) If the Microsoft C++ Redistributable x86 is not installed on the computer, the installer will ask you to click Install to install the C++ Redistributable. You must have this program installed to run WinMark Pro. 8) Follow instructions in the installer dialog boxes to complete the WinMark Pro installation. Note: You must click I Agree to accept the WinMark Pro license agreement and continue with the installation. Note: Beginning with build , the WinMark installer writes Windows Registry values when installation is complete so there is no need to run WinMark once as an Administrator before other, more restricted users, logon to run WinMark. If you need to re-install or uninstall WinMark Pro, double-click the setup.exe icon or from the Windows Start button, go to Programs/Synrad WinMark/Uninstall WinMark. Choose Repair (to re-install) or Remove (to uninstall). After the uninstall is complete, some WinMark components (like mark files) will remain. To completely remove all WinMark-related files, go to C:\Program Files and delete the WinMark folder. 9) Depending on the installation method, not all temporary files are deleted. To free up additional hard drive space, check the C:\Program Files\WinMark folder and delete the following three items if they exist: (1) the vcredist_x86 folder, (2) the setup.exe file, and (3) the WinMark Installer.msi file. - Version Released 03/18/2015 NEW FEATURE: Add a lower PWM frequency limit of 100 Hz

Associated Flyer firmware version 3.46 fixes problem where a Modbus error is generated during a Write Multiple Register command. -- Version Released 07/10/2012 For text objects, custom Text Width values (non-standard aspect ratios) are retained when the Font Type is changed. WinMark now displays a warning about font substitution if a mark file containing a font not installed on the system is opened. When banner marking, banner windows are now displayed on the Drawing Canvas. Improved error handling and logging. Added a Windows Form Control for the Modbus interface in the Program Files\WinMark folder. Fixed problem where USB Driver crashes if no Drawing Canvas windows are open when Flyer s USB port is disconnected/reconnected. Fixed problem where Open Type (.otf) fonts were compressed vertically resulting in an incorrect aspect ratio. Fixed problems when Spot marking small circles or curved polylines. Fixed problem where abort on input (using Enable Abort Input (Input 7) property) would occasionally hang and display incorrect message if multiple abort triggers occurred for a single mark. Fixed problem in WinMark control mode where off-vector move for the first circle object after Flyer boot-up was marked. Fixed problem where a user-created custom 2D UID/Composite code could not be renamed. --

4 Version Released 01/31/2012 Added ability to rotate imported bitmaps at any angle. Added a new head property, Enable Marking Head Ready Output (Output 6), that, when enabled, activates OUT6 to signal that the head is now booted up and ready for operation. The installer now contains both 32- and 64-bit signed USB drivers. For bitmap images, a Threshold Level property allows you to adjust the black/white threshold from 0 (white) to 255 (black). A Threshold slider in the Import Color Raster Bitmap dialog box allows the same adjustment (the default value is 128). Added the ability to use Internal Part Trigger in Banner Marking mode. Note: If you are Banner Marking, you must install WinMark Pro build and Flyer firmware version 3.24 as a matched set. If you decide to downgrade, then both firmware and software must be downgraded (for example to v and 3.08 firmware). Sub decimal (fractional) values are now allowed for the Drawing s Field Scale property. Added Default Mark File Directory property on General Settings.../Application Settings tab for specification of a default file directory. When the Drawing s Field Rotation is set to other than zero (0.00 degrees), the mark dialog s Preview Window now displays the actual mark rotation referenced to the fixed Drawing Canvas display. Added a new custom date code format command, %yc. Use this command to specify a four-digit starting year instead of using the %ya format command, where the beginning alpha code A is always Added a new ActiveX event, FlyerHeartbeatTimeout, as described below: FlyerHeartbeatTimeout Event FlyerHeartbeatTimeout (ByVal istatus As Short) This event fires when heartbeats from the Flyer head have ceased. 5 Fixed problem in ActiveX where AddSpot method places spot at top left of bounding box instead of at center. Fixed problem where mark velocities less than 0.2 in/sec (5 mm/sec) were inaccurate. WinMark now opens the first time when run on Windows 7/Vista as a non-administrator. Fixed problem in Standalone marking where Grouped objects with multiple Mark Passes do not mark properly. Fixed problem in Standalone marking where wobble -style text marks to do mark. Fixed problem of memory leak when a large number of grayscale images are open. -- Version Released 07/08/2011 Added support for register-based MODBUS interface to PLCs using Modbus command function codes 3, 4, 6, and 16. See WinMark Pro Application Note #05g for details. Extended Spot Lase Duration for Spot Tool to maximum 1 hour (3600 seconds). Minimum Spot Lase Duration for Spot Tool is now milliseconds. Devices Menu is now disabled in Demo Mode. When using the Spot Tool, use the Lens Spot Size property to display the spot at the normal (exaggerated) size or display the spot at the exact spot size of the selected focusing lens. ActiveX methods with Boolean return values now indicate when the head is not available. Added a minimum default value for the Banner Window Interval property to prevent zero (0) entries. Changed ActiveX operation to prevent changes to Flyer system parameters while marking in Stand-alone mode. Fixed problem where ActiveX SetSystemProp property returned a pass value when trying to modify a read-only property. Fixed problem where No-Cross property only worked if Mark Count was 0 or greater than 1 or if Mark Passes was > 1. Fixed problem with mark file download failures in Stand-alone mode when Flyer is connected via USB. Fixed problem where optional languages were not available. Fixed a problem when opening WinMark Pro in demo mode after a clean install where certain property values were loaded with minimum values instead of the correct default property values. Fixed a problem where certain AutoCad files containing elliptical arcs did not import properly. -- Version Released 03/01/2011 When Build 6977 is installed and opened for the first time, certain property values may not be initialized correctly. Open WinMark Pro and under the Tools menu, click General Settings.... On the Application Settings tab, check the following property values and correct as required: Pline Start Delay = 0 usecs, Pline End Delay = 200 usecs, Interseg Delay = 75 usecs, Off Vector Delay = 250 usecs, and Off Vector Velocity = in/sec. New USB driver includes 32 and 64 bit support for Windows 7, Vista, and XP. New MSI WinMark installer.

6 File Import Filters: DXF and DWG file import functionality is substantially improved and includes the ability to import hatch fills and Bezier curves. AutoCAD 2010 files can now be imported. The SVG file format is now supported. EMF file import functionality is substantially improved. Note: To mark a solid fill, use AutoCAD to set hatch spacing at the spot size of the lens (or a multiple of the spot size) and then import into WinMark. Adjust WinMark Pro s marking Resolution to obtain the best filled look. To fill AutoCAD text, use AutoCAD s TrueType text tool to create text, then import into WinMark and set Text Filled to Yes. Added ability to upload Head Configuration.log file to PC. Added Abort button to marking window in both WinMark and Launcher. Modified ActiveX MarkDrawing method to return False if heartbeat error detected. ActiveX help file updated to include all Flyer ActiveX properties, events, and methods. Added Mark Pass Delay property on Marking tab to allow for a pause between marks when the Mark Passes property is greater than 1. Fixed a problem where long rectangular bitmap images were corrupted when rotated. Fixed Flyer firmware update issues Fixed problem of WinMark crashing when firmware upgrade is performed in Stand-alone mode Added ability for WinMark to detect firmware version of Flyer head and tailor communication packets to avoid head crashes. 2D codes are now mirrored correctly in either axis. Fixed problem where spot marked 2D codes (when 2D Barcode Bitmap property is No) had different dwell durations in Standalone marking versus WinMark controlled marking. Imported DWG and DXF scaling behavior DWG formats include units information that allows WinMark to scale the drawing correctly when the Vector Import Scale property is One-to-one. Not all DXF files include units information so WinMark defaults to inches as the unit of measure. In cases where the drawing is scaled in units other than inches, the imported drawing will be scaled incorrectly and must be re-scaled within WinMark Pro. The new Import Arcs as Polylines property does not work correctly and will be fixed in the next release. When operating the Flyer head in Stand-alone mode under ActiveX control, do not attempt to change head properties during a mark session. Changing head properties during an ActiveX mark session causes all Flyer properties, including the Ethernet IP Address property, to return to default factory settings. -- Version Released 08/02/2010

8 Fixed problem were arc segments were not displayed/marked properly if arc length greater than 360 degrees. -- Miscellaneous issues: Part Pitch Behavior For Internal Triggering when Banner Tracking (Builds 7264 and above): If the Part Pitch property is set to a value that is smaller than the total length of all combined banner intervals required to mark the entire object, an error will occur. So if parts are spaced very close together, you must carefully select a Banner Window Interval value that is close to a multiple of the mark s total length. For example, a part is banner marked with a 200 mm length of text. If you enter a Banner Window Interval value of 150 mm, the mark would be made in two banner window intervals for a total length of 300 mm. Therefore, the closest spacing for the next part would be 100 mm due to the extra space left over in the second banner interval (two banner windows with a total length of 300 mm minus the 200 mm text mark). In this case, the minimum Part Pitch is 300 mm. If you picked a Banner Window Interval of 100 mm, the total length of the two combined banner intervals would be 200 mm, matching the length of the actual mark, and you would have the closest spacing possible; where the parts can be positioned end-toend (using a Part Pitch property value of 200 mm). Some WinMark Pro v6.net ActiveX Events will not work when compiled using Visual Basic 6.0 or below. To run a VB executable file containing Events, re-compile your source code using Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 or above. Refer to the Microsoft web site for details. Mark Count property and Tracking: When tracking with FH Flyer, the value assigned to the Mark Count property (on the Marking tab for the Drawing object) will vary depending on whether you are operating Flyer in WinMark control mode or Stand-alone control mode. Under WinMark control, set Mark Count = 1 to track continuously as directed by input automation. In Stand-alone control, set Mark Count = 0 in order to track continuously. All ActiveX control methods must use inches as the unit of measure; program your calling program to calculate the conversion to inches from other units of measure. Unpredictable object placement may result if the Show Units Type property in the mark file is set to millimeters or centimeters. Linked objects in serialized arrays do not work. This is handled with a message and an error. When serializing text strings containing lower case letters, the text string may shift up when lower case letters with descenders (g, j, p, q, s, y) are marked. This occurs because the Fixed To Position property

9 defaults to "Center". Set the text Fixed To Position property to "Top Left", "Top Middle", or "Top Right" for best results. Using ActiveX, Automation (Inputs/Outputs), and Tracking: When controlling Tracking using ActiveX control methods, do not place Input automation in the mark file. Instead, perform any input automation functions within the ActiveX control program. By doing this, your control program is in charge of pre-mark and post-mark automation; WinMark s MarkDrawing control method only maintains control of the operating system long enough to control laser on/off commands during the actual marking process. Performing input automation within the mark file may prevent the ActiveX control program from regaining control of the operating system once the MarkDrawing command is called. Using WinMark Pro or WinMark Launcher, Automation (Inputs/Outputs), and Tracking: When controlling Tracking using WinMark Pro or WinMark Launcher, do not use the Wait Digital Before Piece property on the Automation tab. This property is reserved for Tracker input functions (part sensor on IN0 and encoder inputs on IN1/IN2). Automation using Event Builder commands or other input/output commands on the Automation tab works as expected. Text Height set on Format tab does not match Object Height shown in Object Transformations dialog box. For TrueType fonts, the Text Height value corresponds to the uppercase cap height of the font. The Object Transformations Object Height is the sum of the uppercase cap height plus the space above and below provided for ascenders and descenders. Note that Stroke font heights are variable (depending on the designer) and do not strictly conform to this description.
