4 WORKING WITH CODE: THE LOG SUMMARY The log summary allows you to naviguate quickly to your errors in the log or the code

5 WORKING WITH CODE: THE PROJECT LOG Helpful Hint: If Project Logging is turned on, the log represents a running log of the entire project. To turn on the Project Logging, select Project Log in the Context Menu of the Process Flow, and then select Turn On.

6 WORKING WITH CODE You can work with code in many ways: Use existing programs or create new ones Leverage the point and click code generated and copy it in a program Edit the point and click code (on some tasks) Submit code automatically: When server starts Before or after tasks Before or after code Helpful Hint: some of these options are found under Tools Options.

7 UTILITY TOOLS: PROGRAM HISTORY The program history feature enables you to track the changes that you and other programmers make to programs in SAS Enterprise Guide.

8 THE CODE ANALYZER You might want to analyze a SAS program for the following reasons: to quickly identify the different parts of the program and see how each part is related to take advantage of grid computing to determine if there are any possible internationalization issues Helpful Hint: you can analyze a program for grid computing, SAS Enterprise Guide identifies the parts of the program that are not dependent on one another

9 UTILITY TOOLS: COPY AND SEARCH FEATURES COPY You can copy and paste one or more objects within a process flow and from one process flow to another. You can also copy an entire process flow and paste it into the same project or paste it into another project. In 7.11, you can copy prompts SEARCH You can search your project for text that you specify

10 UTILITY TOOLS: THE MACRO VARIABLE VIEWER view all of the SAS macro variables that are defined in your current SAS session You can also use the SAS Macro Variable Viewer to quickly evaluate an expression. This functionality enables you to get immediate feedback on a macro expression without adding it to a longer SAS program.

11 UTILITY TOOLS: THE SYSTEM OPTIONS VIEWER From the System Options Viewer, you can learn this information about a selected system option: the value of the system option in the current session the value of the system option at start-up where this system option can be set (either in the OPTIONS statement or at start-up) how the current value was set

13 DATA EXPLORATION TOOL You can use the Data Explorer to view a SAS data set without adding the data set to your project. When you are exploring the data, you can create different views of it by specifying columns to include, creating filters, and specifying sorting criteria. You can also quickly create basic graphs and calculate basic statistics for the data. Helpful Hint: After you have explored the data, you can then choose to add your selection as a query to your project
