1 KVS Enterprise Server Installation Worksheet (Client/Server and Terminal Services Installations) CDs Required: KVS Enterprise CD KVS Oracle Installation DVD o Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch 3 o Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch 4 o Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch 4 - P14 o Oracle Opatch o Oracle Forms and Reports 6i o Oracle Forms and Reports 6i - Patch16 Other Requirements: Adobe Reader 7+ HP Printer Driver PCL6 Internet Information Services (IIS) Microsoft Indexing Service NOTE: The complete installation of Oracle and Enterprise averages 3 to 4 hours depending on the speed of your system and the method of deployment. Because of the complexity of the installation process this is not covered under normal hotline support. VKS recommends having a KVS representative perform the installation using one of our installation services. For clients who wish to perform the installation on their own, technical support phone charges will apply. Please contact KVS to discuss your situation prior to starting the installation. All steps MUST BE PERFORMED using an account with ADMINISTRATIVE rights. For Windows Server 2008 installs, all steps MUST BE PERFORMED as the SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR. 1 - Install Oracle Forms & Reports: (A) Insert Oracle Forms and Reports 6i CD, then complete the following information and click OK: Company Name: Your Municipality Name Name: DevDes Location: C:\Oracle\DevDes This product may be installed to any drive or folder (D:\KVS\Oracle\DevDes). (1) Choose to install Oracle Forms Developer and click OK: Choose Typical installation type and click OK, then choose No to not install server for testing and click OK: Click OK to any message dialog boxes that appear and again when finished. Upon completion, install the same disk again, complete the following information and click OK: This product should be installed to the same location used above. (2) Choose to install Oracle Reports Developer and click OK: Choose the Typical installation type and click OK, then choose No to not install server for testing and click OK: If you receive the error: Failed to create service for Net 8 client, click OK and re-run this install again. Click OK to any other message dialog boxes that appear and again when finished.

2 (B) Insert Oracle Forms and Reports 6i - Patch 16 CD, then complete the following information and click OK: This product should be installed to the same location used above. (1) Choose the Typical installation type and click OK ** For 64-bit Windows Only, copy 64-bit.dll files into x:\oracle\devdes\bin, overwriting existing files when prompted. Please contact KVS technical staff to obtain required.dll files if necessary. 2 - Install Oracle 10g Database: (A) Insert the Oracle 10g Database - Release 2 Patch 3 CD to begin. (1) On the Autorun screen click Install/Deinstall Products: (2) On the welcome screen, complete the following fields: Oracle Home Location: C:\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\DB_1 Keep path similar to Oracle Forms and Reports path - D:\KVS\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\DB_1. Select correct Installation Type - Standard or Enterprise Most clients will use Standard Edition, clients with Multi-Muni's or other special circumstances will choose Enterprise Edition. There is a difference in licensing costs for Standard Edition versus Enterprise Edition. Global Database Name: KVSAPP Database Password & Confirm Password: kvsjob When finished, click Next:

3 (3) At the Product-Specific Prerequisite Checks screen, verify that everything succeeded and click Next. (4) At the Installation Summary screen, click Install. (5) On the "End of Installation" screen click Exit. If you receive the message "Error: IM Create Service Error", do not stop the installation! Go into Administrative Tools -> Services, and start the "OracleServiceORCL" service. Go back to Oracle DB installation and click to Continue Installation. If you receive the message "ORA-12560:TNS:Protocol adapter error", click OK until you receive a Cancel option, click Cancel, you may receive another error "OUI-25029", click OK, then click Yes to exit. At this point you must install the required patches for Windows Server 2008 servers explained below. (B) **This step installs required patches for servers running Windows Server 2008 only. All others skip to step 3 - Modify System Settings / Variables / Files below. (1) Click Start -> Administrative Tools -> Services, locate the OracleOraDB10g_home1TNSListener services and stop the service. (2) Locate the Oracle10g-R2P4 install and run setup.exe as administrator. At the Welcome screen, click Next to begin. At the Specify Home Details screen, from the dropdown select the default home OraDb10g_home1 and click Next to continue. At the Product Specific Prerequisite Checks screen click Next to continue. If you receive an error at this point please confirm that the OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener service is not running. At the Oracle Configuration Manager Registration screen click Next to continue. At the Summary screen, click Install to begin the installation. The End of Installation screen will display when finished, click Exit followed by Yes to exit the installation. (3) Locate the Oracle10g-R2P4-P14 install folder and open a CMD prompt to load this patch. From a CMD prompt set the ORACLE_HOME variable to your Oracle Database installation folder: SET ORACLE_HOME=X:\KVS\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\DB_1 Next set your PATH variable to include the opatch folder: SET PATH=X:\DVD-Oracle10g-R2P4\OPATCH

4 Next type OPATCH APPLY to begin applying the patch: - Press <ENTER> to bypass entering an address and type Y to continue. - Type Y to apply the patch. If you receive any errors during this process confirm that the environment variables were setup properly and rerun the patch. If any files are in use reboot the server, stop the TNS service and restart this process. Upon successful completion the opatch utility will display Opatch Succeeded. **THE SYSTEM MUST NOW BE REBOOTED BEFORE CONTINUING** (3) From the Start Menu select Programs -> Oracle-OraDb10g_home1 -> Configuration and Migration -> Database Configuration Assistant to begin creating/recreating the KVSAPP database. At the Welcome screen click Next. At the Step 1 of 12 screen select Create a Database and click Next to continue. At the Step 2 of 12 screen select General Purpose and click Next to continue. At the Step 3 of 12 screen type KVSAPP as the database and click Next to continue. If you receive an error indicating that the KVSAPP database already exists, restart this wizard and first delete KVSAPP, then start step (3) over to recreate it. At the Step 4 of 12 screen click Next to continue. At the Step 5 of 12 screen type kvsjob for the password and again to confirm, then click Next to continue. At the Step 6 of 12 screens ensure that File System is selected and click Next to continue. At the Step 7 of 12 screen choose Use Common Location for All Database Files and then use Browse to select the x:\kvs\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata folder, then click Next to continue. At the Step 8 of 12 through Step 11 of 12 screens, click Next to continue. At the Step 12 screen click Finish to begin creating the database. When the Database Configuration Assistant Database Creation Complete screen appears, click Exit. 3 - Modify System Settings / Variables / Files: (A) Registry / System Variable: (1) For XP/Win2k/2003, add/modify the following System Variable: Name: Local Value: KVSAPP (B) Copy files to Admin and Forms60 directories:

5 (1) Copy sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora from (overwrite existing files): x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin - TO - x:\oracle\devdes\net80\admin (2) Copy fmrusw.res and fmrweb.res from (overwrite existing files): KVS Enterprise CD\Install\keys - TO - x:\oracle\devdes\forms60 (C) Make sure SQL Plus works: (1) Click on Start -> Programs -> Oracle for Windows XX -> SQL Plus 8.0 User/password = scott/tiger system/kvsjob sys/kvsjob as sysdba If you are still unable to connect: Verify that the tnsnames file was copied correctly Edit the tnsnames file and confirm directory and database names are correct (2) Verify that the correct character set was installed: From the SQL+ prompt type: SELECT * FROM NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS; In the list that displays, the NLS_CHARACTERSET should be WE8MSWIN1252. If the character set is not WE8MSWIN1252, use the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant to delete and recreate the database with the correct character set. For assistance using the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, please contact a KVS Technical Support Representative. 4 - Install KVS Enterprise Client Database: (A) Insert the KVS Enterprise CD: (1) Open the INSTALL folder and double-click on install.bat. Complete the KVS Enterprise Client Install program as follows: Source Dir: Destination Dir: Oracle Home: KVS DB Name: This is the location of the KVS Enterprise CD This is the directory where the program is going to be copied. This should be the parent directory to where the Oracle Database was installed and must already exist. This is the directory name where the Oracle Database was installed to. It should typically be db_1. This is the name of the KVS Database to be created. It should normally be KVS_APP for the primary database or KVS_PLAY for the training database.

6 First Install Copy KVS Program Create DB User/File Import Data Overwrite Initial Data If multiple databases are being installed, enter the desired database name - KVS_TOWN or KVS_SCHOOL for instance. If this is the first time installing any database, leave this option checked and then click one of the process options to be performed. Ensure that for each process selected that the First Install option is also checked. If a database has already been installed previously, ensure that this option is not checked. Required for all installations. This option copies all of the executables to the KVS DB Name (KVS_APP). Required for all installations. This option creates the DB user. Required for all installations. This option imports the.dmp file from the CD to the newly created DB. This option overwrites data in the database. Only use this option when you want to overwrite the data in an existing database. For example, if a client currently has a Test version of their database and then is to be delivered the Live version of their database and you want to use the same KVS Database Name, then click this option. Source Dir: Destination Dir: Oracle Home: KVS DB Name: Typical Install Steps: Live Database First Install Copy KVS Program Play / Additional Database First Install Copy KVS Program First Install Create DB User/File First Install Create DB User/File First Install Import Data First Install Import Data To create a KVS Play DB, run the process again for Copy KVS Program, Create DB User/File, and Import Data, with KVS_PLAY as KVS DB name. Make sure First Install is not checked when creating additional databases, as shown in the table above. (B) Setup KVS Enterprise Shortcut: (1) Copy KVS shortcut from KVS Enterprise CD\INSTALL folder to the desktop. Verify the Target, Start In, and Icon paths are correct for your installation. Notes:

7 You may want to place all KVS shortcuts in the All Users\Desktop folder to allow access to anyone who uses this server. (2) If you have multiple databases (Live and Play or Town and School), complete these steps: Create a copy of your working shortcut and rename it as desired. Right-click the new shortcut and select Properties. Change the database name at the end of the Target line to correspond to your additional database name "p_default_db=databasename". Where "DatabaseName" is the name of your additional database. This will be the name that was specified in the KVS DB Name field during the installation (typically KVS_APP and/or KVS_PLAY or KVS_TOWN and/or KVS_SCHOOL). (C) KVS Setup, Directory locations, Printers: (1) Login to Enterprise as the database owner or a Power User (KVS/KVS or KVS_ADMIN/KVS). From the Options drop down menu select DBA Utilities Click the KVS Setup button. Check the directory paths are correct for the following fields: Help Client: \\SERVERNAME\KVS_APP\KVS_HELP\ Form Dir: Note Dir: Script Dir: Backup Dir: Spool URL: \\SERVERNAME\KVS_APP\ \\SERVERNAME\KVS_APP\USER_NOTES\ \\SERVERNAME\KVS_APP\SCRIPTS\ \\SERVERNAME\KVS_APP\BACKUP\ Help Client: Form Dir: Note Dir: Script Dir: Backup Dir: Spool URL: Server: For local installations, you cannot use the UNC naming convention for the directory paths. You must use the specific local path (C:\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\KVS_APP\KVS_HELP). If running in Client/Server mode (not using RDP) - ensure that "Client Server Mode" checkbox is checked.

8 (2) Setup "forms printers" by going into the Print Spooler from any Enterprise module. Select Printer button at bottom of screen. Add new record - specify printer name and address (\\SERVER\SHARENAME or LPT1:) Printer 1: Printer 2: Printer 3: Printer 4: Repeat as needed. Forms printers are printers used for printing text-only print forms such as purchase orders, vouchers, bills, etc. If you're using Adobe Acrobat to print your forms then you do not need to setup those printers in this screen. AcuPrint forms are considered text-only forms. AcuPrint printers must be setup in this screen. (3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the KVS_PLAY database, and/or any other database created (or use the Update Play DB button in DBA Utilities screen). These changes are all database specific. (4) Setup the search.asp file which is used in the online documentation by modifying the following file with a text editor: X:\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\KVS_app\KVS_Search\search.asp Modify the line that contains "help_url= to reflect the correct server name. Replace "oracle3" with the name of your server. (5) Modify the wsearch2.htm file which is used in the online documentation by modifying the following file with a text editor: x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\kvs_app\kvs_help\documents\wsearch2.htm Modify the line that contains "url= to reflect the correct server name. Replace "serv-399" with the name of your server.

9 5 - Indexing and IIS Setup: (A) Create a new Indexing Catalog: (1) Open the Computer Management module on your server by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting Manage. (2) Scroll down and open the Indexing Indexing Service under Services and Applications. (3) Right click on Indexing Service and choose New -> Catalog. (4) Create the new catalog as follows: Name: KVS_SEARCH Location: x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\kvs_app\kvs_search If the message "Catalog will remain-off until Indexing Service is restarted" appears, click OK. (5) Right-click on the KVS_SEARCH catalog that you just created and select properties. Make the following changes to the Generation Tab: Uncheck inherit above settings checkbox Check Generate abstract checkbox Set Maximum size to 150 (6) Right-click on the KVS_SEARCH catalog and select New -> Directory. (7) Specify x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\kvs_app\kvs_help\documents as the new directory path and click OK. (8) Right-click on the Indexing Service node and select start. Click Yes if you are prompted Would you like the Indexing Service to start automatically whenever you start the computer?. Because this is a newly created catalog, it will need to re-index all of the files in the documents folder. This process may take several minutes to complete and must finish before you can search the catalog. (B) Map required virtual directories in IIS: (1) Still in the Computer Management module on the server, open the IIS Console. (2) Open the Web Sites folder and right-click on Default Web Site. Select New -> Virtual Directory. (3) Specify the alias name as listed below. (4) Accept the default permission.

10 In Windows Server 2003 will need to check Execute Permissions. (5) Repeat the same procedure for the 2nd and 3rd virtual directory listed below. Virtual Directories to Create: Alias: KVS_HELP Directory: x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\kvs_app\kvs_help Alias: KVS_SEARCH Directory: x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\kvs_app\kvs_search Alias: ORACLE Directory: x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\utl_dir For Windows 2003 installations: In the IIS Console, go to Web Service Extensions and change Active Server Pages and ASP.NET to Allowed. 6 - Setup Backup Jobs; Automatic Start & Stop Scripts; Services: (A) Create a Backup job to run every night: (1) Sample backup batch files are located in the x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\kvs_app\backup directory. Sample backup batch files are named monday.bat through friday.bat - one for each weekday. (2) Using a text editor, modify each batch file to ensure that all paths are correct - ensuring that everything points to the correct drive and directory location. KVS recommends saving the backup scripts with unique filenames to prevent them from being overwritten in the future. (ClientName_Monday.bat, ClientName_Tuesday.bat, etc.) (3) Add a Windows scheduled task to run each backup job on the corresponding days. The Windows Task Scheduler is found on the Start Menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scheduled Tasks. (4) Schedule the task to run prior to the regular system backup (ie: Veritas), allowing enough time for it to complete. Enter the Administrator username and password when prompted. If you wish to use another account, the account must have the right to run batch jobs and write to the backup directory. (5) Modify your existing backup job to exclude the Oracle directories with the exception of the x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\kvs_app directory and all of it's sub-directories. Another option is to run pre and post jobs to stop and start Oracle before and after your normal backup. Most backup utilities provide the capability to setup pre and post command as part of the backup job. The jobs required to stop and start Oracle are ora_stop.bat and ora_start.bat and are described in the next section.

11 (6) Optional - Using a text editor, setup a backup script to backup additional databases (KVS_PLAY for example). Ensure all paths are setup correctly in the script. Ensure that the "exp" command is formatted correctly - "file", "log", and "owner" should include the database name that you wish to backup. Save backup script with a unique name (ClientName_KVS_Play_Backup.bat for example). Schedule a job to run automatically if necessary (B) Create scheduled jobs to ensure Oracle database is running at all times: (1) Sample start and stop batch files are located in the x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\scripts directory. Sample Oracle database startup script is Ora_Start.bat. Sample Oracle database shutdown script is Ora_Stop.bat. (2) Using a text editor, modify each batch file to ensure that all paths are correct - ensuring that everything points to the correct drive and directory location. KVS recommends saving these scripts with unique filenames to prevent them from being overwritten in the future. (ClientName_Ora_Start.bat, ClientName_Ora_Stop.bat, etc.) (3) Add a Windows scheduled task to run the Ora_Start (ClientName_Ora_Start.bat) job every morning. The Windows Task Scheduler is found on the Start Menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scheduled Tasks. Running this job prior to the start of work each day will ensure that the Oracle database is always running. The Oracle database may stop running if it is backed up without being shutdown first. (4) Add a Windows scheduled task to run the Ora_Start (ClientName_Ora_Start.bat) job at System Startup. This will ensure that the Oracle database starts when the system is rebooted. (5) You may also want to place shortcuts to the Ora_Start (ClientName_Ora_Start.bat) and Ora_Stop (ClientName_Ora_Stop.bat) batch files on the administrators desktop in case you ever need to restart the database. (C) Create batch job to run Oracle database scripts for updates: (1) A sample batch file is located in the x:\oracle\product\10.2.0\scripts directory. Sample Oracle script batch job is Ora_Script.bat. (2) Using a text editor, the batch file to ensure that all paths are correct - ensuring that everything points to the correct drive and directory location.

12 KVS recommends saving these scripts with unique filenames to prevent them from being overwritten in the future. (ClientName_Ora_Script.bat, etc.) (3) You may also want to place a shortcut to the Ora_Script (ClientName_Ora_Script.bat) batch file on the administrators desktop in case you ever need to run a database script as part of an update. (D) Setup Oracle Services to start automatically: (1) Open the Computer Management module on your server by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting Manage. (2) Scroll down and open Services under Services and Applications. (3) In the Services pane, scroll down to the Oracle services. (4) Ensure that the following services are started and set to start automatically: OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener OracleServiceKVSAPP KVSAPP refers to the database name used when Oracle 10g was installed. To start a service, right-click and select Start. To set a service to start automatically, double-click the service and change Startup type to Automatic. (5) Ensure that the following services are not running and set to start manually: OracleDBConsoleKVSAPP OracleCSService OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus KVSAPP refers to the database name used when Oracle 10g was installed. To stop a service, right-click and select Stop. To set a service to start manually, double-click the service and change Startup type to Manual.

13 7 - Testing: (A) Log into Enterprise and test the following (Username/Password = KVS/KVS): (1) Make sure help works by clicking on a help icon anywhere in the application. You should be taken to help pertaining to the screen or field that you are on. (2) While you're still in the help screen, try searching help to ensure that the search function is working properly. Searching on the word "color" for instance should bring up approximately 10 results. (3) Make sure that User Notes work by clicking on the User Notes button in the toolbar anywhere it's available in the application. You should be brought into the Microsoft Write program where you can type a note. (4) Make sure that you can run a report. The report should display in Adobe Acrobat. Make sure you can print it to a laser printer and that it prints properly. (5) Make sure you can print a test file from the SPOOLER program. You can access the SPOOLER program from the Reports menu. Test printing a Check file to the printer to ensure that it lines up and prints properly. (6) Make sure that the keyboard shortcuts work. In the General Ledger module, go to the Setup tab and select Fund from the menu. Pressing <ALT><n> should take you into Entry Mode allowing you to add a new Fund. Exit out without saving any changes. (7) If available, test printing a check using AcuPrint to ensure that the for lines up with the check when printed form the SPOOLER program. (8) Repeat the above tests in any other database that was created. 8 - Troubleshooting: (A) Unable to sign-in to Enterprise: (1) Make sure you can log into SQL Plus as outlined in Section 3. From the Start Menu, go into Oracle_OraDb10g_Home1-> Application Development-> SQL Plus. (B) (2) Verify that the system variable or registry change was setup correctly as outlined in Section 3A. (3) Verify that the tnsnames.ora file is pointing to the correct directory path as outlined in Section 3C. Still unable to sign-in to Enterprise: (1) Try restarting the database.

14 From the Start Menu, go into Oracle_OraDb10g_Home1 -> Application Development -> SQL Plus. Log in by typing "sys/kvsjob as sysdba" in the user field. Type shutdown immediate - this will stop the Oracle Database. Type startup - this will start the Oracle Database. Try logging into KVS Enterprise again. (2) If you are unable to log into SQL Plus or run the shutdown and startup commands, ensure that the Oracle Listener is running: Open a DOS/Command prompt Type lsnrctl Type stop Type start Try running SQL Plus commands as outlined in the previous step (3) If you can log into SQL Plus, but get this error after typing the startup command: ORA-01113: file 6 needs media recovery ORA-01110: data file 5: C:\DATA\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\KVSAPP\KVSAPP_01.DBF Type: alter database recover datafile c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\kvsapp\kvsapp_01.dbf (This should reference the path to the file that is specified in need of recovery) The system should return with database altered. Type: alter database open The system should return with database altered. (4) Make sure the KVS Enterprise Database files are OK. Log into SQL Plus as the database owner (contact KVS if you do not have this username and password). Type select * from kvs_user. If you get an error then login to SQL Plus as sys/kvsjob as sysdba. Type select file#.substr(name,1,50),status,enabled from v$datafile;. If status shows recover on any of the lines, you need to perform a recover. To recover type recover datafile path\filename ;. At prompt type auto. Type alter database datafile path\filename online. Repeat for each file with status of recover. Type select file#.substr(name,1,50),status,enabled from v$datafiel; to make sure nothing is listed with a status of recover. (5) You receive a message indicating a corrupt redo log header when starting Oracle.

15 Log into SQL Plus as the database owner (contact KVS if you do not have this username and password). Type startup. If you receive the following, continue w/this step: Database mounted. ORA-16038: log # sequence# #### cannot be archived ORA-00354: corrupt redo log block header ORA-00312: online log # thread #: "D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\KVSAPP\REDO0#.LOG' Type the following command to confirm corruption: alter system dumplogfile 'd:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\kvsapp\redo01.log' Type the following command to clear corruption: alter database clear unarchived logfile 'd:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\kvsapp\redo01.log' shutdown/startup database - it should now mount properly. (C) Unable to access online help: (1) Make sure that the KVS Setup Directories are correct as described in section 4C. (2) Make sure the search.asp and wsearch2.htm files were modified correctly as described in section 4C. (3) If necessary, set the Internet LAN settings in to bypass proxy server for local addresses (4) Make sure that IIS is running on the server. (D) Able to access online help, but Search page does not display: (1) If you are using Windows 2000 Server and are unable to display.asp files, reference Microsoft Support Article # How to Troubleshoot ASP in IIs 5.0. Reference the following Microsoft article for IIS 5.0 troubleshooting tips: (2) If you are using IE6 and the page redirection is not working, on the Security tab in the Internet Options dialog box, you have turned off the new Allow META REFRESH option for the security zone that includes the Web page. By default, this option is turned off only in the Restricted sites zone. This setting is part of the Windows user profile. Reference the following Microsoft article for IE troubleshooting tips: (E) Able to access online help, but Search with help returns no entries found: (1) Make sure that the Indexing service is started and that it has completed indexing all documents. (2) Try deleting the virtual directory and re-creating as described in section 5A. (F) Unable to add a user note in Enterprise: (1) Make sure KVS users have write access to the KVS_APP share.

16 (G) Enterprise reports do not display or print: (1) Make sure that KVS users have write access to the KVS_APP share on the server. (2) Make sure that Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 6 or higher is installed properly. Make sure you can display other.pdf files in the reader. (3) Make sure that the KVS Setup Directories are correct as described in section 4B. (4) If necessary, set the Internet LAN settings in to bypass proxy server for local addresses. (5) Make sure that the desired printer is installed and that you are able to print a test page and other.pdf files. (H) Unable to print from KVS Spooler program: (1) Make sure that the printer was added in printer setup properly as described in section 4B. (I) Review the following logfiles for any errors: (1) On the server, c:\kvs_log\install_01.log.
