1 The Wow Veos used with your network server Introduction- You have a choice of electing to use a ProVeos or a Veos model in your organization. If you will have one stand-alone conference or training room, it may make sense to have the ProVeos, which has an on-board server capability. Other differences include greater on-board storage capacity of 500 GB vs. 160 GB on the basic Veos. The ProVeos can handle 1080P HD video and has 5.1 surround sound. The Veos is always used in conjunction with a Microsoft server. If you have an MS server that meets the requirement, you may want to use the Veos for its cost-effectiveness, even if you are only going to deploy one Veos. Naturally, if you are going to operate an enterprise system for numerous WOW rooms, then it makes sense to use the server-based Veos. The server hardware has 2 sets of requirements. One is for serving on demand video and the other is only acting as the basic database authentication management. The basic database requires 2GHz P4/2GHz Core2 with 2GB RAM for 10 to 50 Veos units. With streaming to 1-25 Veos systems use a 2.5GHz Core2 Duo/2.2GHz Xeon with 8GB RAM. As we mentioned these are not extraordinary server specs and the end client may already have one in place. To implement the server, the VEOS server software uses readily available Microsoft and OPEN SOURCE prerequisite software to function. This is for Web, file and database serving: 1) Install Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0.exe This is likely already installed on the server 2) Install Microsoft Visual J# Version 2.0 Redistributable Package.exe 3) Find on the internet and install Open Source - Apache HTTP Server 4) Find on the internet and install Open Source FreeFTPD 5) Find on the internet and install Open Source MySQL 6) Install Veos Server software available from Starin via your dealer What follows is a detailed summary of the steps. Newer versions of the respective software may apply instead of these illustrations.

Microsoft.net Framework 3.0 or 3.5 does not replace Microsoft.net Framework 2.0, please be sure to have Microsoft.net Framework 2.0 installed as well. Run the Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0.exe installer in the Prerequisites folder. Click the Next > button.

3 Agree to the license. Click the Install > button.

4 Once the installation is completed, click the Finish button. Run the Microsoft Visual J# Version 2.0 Redistributable Package.exe installer in the Prerequisites folder.

5 Click the Next > button.

6 Agree to the license agreement Click the Install > button.

7 Once the installation is completed, click the Finish button.

Provide an email address where users can reach an administrator for assistance.

13 Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs folder added during the Apache installation. Create a new folder named media within the htdocs folder. To install freeftpd, run the freeftpd exe installer in the Prerequisites folder.

14 Click the Next > button. Accept the suggested destination directory by clicking the Next > button.

15 Check that Full installation is selected in the drop-down list. Click the Next > button. Accept the default start menu folder by clicking the Next > button.

16 If you do not want to create a freeftpd desktop icon, uncheck the Create a desktop icon checkbox. Click the Next > button. Click the Install button to start installing freeftpd.

17 Click the Close button. The installer will prompt to create private keys. Click the Yes button.

18 Click the Finish button.

19 The installer will ask if freeftpd should be run in the background as a system service. Click the Yes button. A user account should be created to allow the eduveos server software to access freeftpd. Click Users on the left. Click the Add button.

20 A user properties form is shown: Fill in the following fields accordingly: Login: ftpadmin Authorization: Password stored as SHA1 hash Password: A1S1D122! Password (again): A1S1D122! Home directory: C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\media Leave the other fields at their default values. Note: You can use your own Login and Password fields. This will need to match the WPG Box and Media Server FTP settings entered in the configuration pages when eduveos server software are being installed. Note: When creating a new password, use a mixture of alphabets and numbers so that it is not easily guessable. Click the Apply button to create the user account.

21 The account should appear in the list of users: Click SFTP on the left.

$A set of SFTP configuration options will be shown: Click the button beside the SFTP root directory text box. Locate the C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.$

Server status should indicate that it is running successfully. Click the Apply & Save button to complete the freeftpd installation.

23 Run the MySQL msi installer in the Prerequisites folder. Click the Next > button. Check that the Typical option is selected. Click the Next > button.

24 Click the Install button.

25 Select the Skip Sign-Up option. Click the Next > button.

26 Once MySQL finishes installing, check the Configure the MySQL Server now checkbox. Click Finish to start the configuration wizard. Click the Next > button.

27 Choose the Detailed Configuration option. Click the Next > button.

28 Select the Developer Machine option. Click the Next > button.

33 Verify that the Install As Windows Service checkbox is checked to allow MySQL to run in the background. The Launch the MySQL Server automatically checkbox should be checked too. Click the Next > button.

34 Verify that the Modify Security Settings checkbox is checked. Enter a root password in the text box, and type it again in the Confirm text box. Check the Enable root access from remote machines checkbox. Click the Next > button.

35 Click the Execute button to apply the configuration. Once the wizard finishes the configuration process, click the Finish button.

36 Note: If some of the configuration steps are not successful, try using the configuration wizard again. If the wizard fails, try reinstalling MySQL. The wizard is located in the start menu at Program Files > MySQL > MySQL Server 5.0 > MySQL Server Instance Config Wizard.
