1 Setting Up IP Intercom For The First Time With WiFi Room Stations Only Introduction This tech guide will step you though the steps to set up the HikVision Villa IP Intercom for the first time when using the Wi-Fi room stations ( ). This will allow each of the Sub room stations (Wi-Fi room stations ( )) to connect to the system by Wi-Fi rather than using a LAN cable. The Master room station and the door station still need to be connected by a LAN cable. There are 2 sections in this tech guide. Section 1.1 (On page 3) will guide you through the step on how to access the IP Intercom in the ivms software. Section 1.2 (On page 4) will guide you through how to connect 1 door station to many room stations. Page 1

2 Before you begin Ensure you have the ivms-4200 software version Build installed on your computer. This can be downloaded from the Ness Website. Before you program your door and room stations ensure you have version build or later installed. You can find the firmware version later on during the setup of the device. Notes These steps are based on factory default settings with the devices not yet activated. It s recommend you setup the door station before setting up the room stations. Your computer s IP address needs to have the IP address as xx (eg ) while the system is being setup, otherwise it will have issues communicating to the door station and room stations. Only the Wi-Fi room stations ( ) can be used. You can t use the non Wi-Fi room stations ( or B) otherwise you will have video and audio issues. A maximum of 16 room stations can be used. (1 Master + 15 Sub Room stations = Total 16 Room Stations) The Master room station must be connected by LAN to the network so it can talk to the door station. The Wi-Fi on the master room station will be used to communicate to the sub room stations. The LAN cable in the master room station will be used to communicate to the door station. Page 2

4 1.2 One Door Station to Many Room Stations Setup When setting up multiple room stations for the first time, it s recommend to only connect one room station at a time. This will make it easy to work out what room station you are setting up. It is recommended that you setup the door station before setting up the room stations. Door Station Setup 1. Connect a LAN cable into the door station and connect it to your network. 2. Power up the door station. 3. Select Encoding / Device / Door Station from the left menu in ivms. 4. Select your Door station from the bottom section and then click Activate. Page 4

6 8. Make sure the IP says and then enter in the password you used to activate the door station, and then click on OK. 9. Select the Door station from the bottom section and then click on Add to Client. 10. Now you need to set some settings for this door station. Nickname Give the door station a name. In my example, it s going to be called Door Station. Address Leave this as Port Leave this as port 8000 Username set this as admin Password Enter the password you used to activate the door station Leave the Export to group ticked, once the above is set click on Add. 8 15. Set the SIP Server IP address to be your door station s IP address. ( ). Leave all the other settings as default. Once the IP has been set, press Save. 16. You now need to reboot the room station. Click on System > System Maintenance then click on Reboot. 17. Close the remote configuration window. Page 8

10 4. When prompted, enter in a password for this door station. This can be anything you want. You can use the same password as you use to login to ivms which will make it easy to remember. If you ever want to reconfigure this door station at a later time, you will need to know this password. 5. Select the door station you just activated and click on Modify NetInfo. 6. Make sure the software version is v1.4.0 build or above before continuing. If it s not then you will need to update the firmware before setting up the system. Refer to the firmware update tech note for steps on how to update the firmware. Page 10

12 11. Click on Intercom > ID Configuration from the left menu. 12. Give the room station a room number (eg. 1), then click Save. Note, make sure the device type is set to Indoor Station. 13. Click on Network > Linked Network Configuration from the left menu. Page 12

14 Once the Master room station reboots and the UI is displayed on the room station, connect it to the customers Wi-Fi access point. 16. Find and tap on the WiFi tile from the home screen Enable the WiFi by tapping on the toggle button next to Enable Wi-Fi. 18. It will now prompt you if the room station you are using is connected to the same LAN as the door station. Tap on the No button for this since the WiFi should be connected to a different network as the door station and room stations. 19. Find your WiFi network from the list and tap on it. Note: you may need to scroll up and down the list if multiple networks are in your area. Page 14

16 Sub Room Station Setup Although you are not going to connect the sub room stations with the LAN cable, it s recommended to plug the sub room station into the switch while setting it up. Then later you can move it and connect it to a separate power supply. 1. Connect a LAN cable into the sub room station and connect it to your network. 2. Wait for the touch screen to fully power up, then select Indoor Station / Master Station from the left menu in ivms. 3. Select the room station from the bottom list and click on Activate 4. When prompted, enter in a password for this door station. This can be anything you want. You can use the same password as you use to login to ivms which will make it easy to remember. If you ever want to reconfigure this door station at a later time, you will need to know this password. Page 16

18 Enter in the password which was used to activate the room station, then click on OK. 8. Select the room station from the bottom section and click on add to client 9. Now you need to set some settings for this room station. Leave the adding mode as IP/Domain. Nickname Give the room station a name. In my example, it s going to be called Sub 1 Room Station. Address - leave it as it is (it should be the IP you set in Step 7) Port Leave this as port 8000 Username set this as admin Password Use the password you used to activate this room station. Once the above is set click on Add. Page 18

20 11. Click on OK. This will cause the room station to reboot. You need to wait for the room station to reboot before continuing. 12. Select the sub room station you were just setting up and click on Remote Configuration 13. Click on Network > Linked Network Configuration from the left menu. 14. You then need to set the parameters as per below.. Main Indoor Station IP The main indoor station IP needs to be set as the Wi-Fi IP address of your Master room station. Refer to step 23, on page In my example it is Connect Mode Set this to Different Network Once the above settings have been set, click on Save. Page 20

22 20. If your WiFi network requires a password, then tap on the password field and enter in your WiFi Password. Once your WiFi Password has been entered in, tap on the Connect button. 21. If the connection is succuessful then you will see it say Wi-Fi connected under the WiFi it has connected to. After the sub room station has been connected to the Wi-Fi, you can then un-plug the LAN cable and connect it to a separate 12v Power supply and the system will communicate by Wi-Fi. Note, the Door station and the master room station still needs to be connected by a LAN cable. Repeat this section (Sub Room Station Setup) for each of the sub room stations you are adding to the system. Once all sub room stations are setup and have finished rebooting then the system is setup and ready to be used.
