2 Introduction About the System How the System Works With the TANDBERG movi, video conferencing comes to your PC through your Microsoft Internet Explorer. All you need is to download an ActiveX component from the movi server there is no need for additional software. You will be on the air in minutes without compromising your PC s security! Click on link: Received from TMS (TANDBERG Management System) On a corporate portal (not provided by TANDBERG). Your web browser connects to the TANDBERG movi server in the corporate network. System Requirements Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer (IE) Web camera Microphone/Speakers or a headset! The use of ActiveX contrains your browser options. Alas, browsers with no support for ActiveX, such as Mozilla Firefox and Opera cannot be used with the TANDBERG movi. A movi client is downloaded into the browser. The call is set up between the TANDBERG movi and an endpoint, an MPS or another TANDBERG movi client.

3 To Get You Up and Going Enabling Download of ActiveX Getting Started the First Time For security reasons it is very common that your browser is set up to disable download of ActiveX controls. While this is a very sensible thing to do, it is probably safe to enable download of signed components from your local intranet. To do this in Internet Explorer do the following:.. Click Tools > Options > Security > Local Intranet > Custom Level... Set the option for Download ActiveX controls to Prompt. You will now be asked by the browser before it starts downloading a new ActiveX control. Make sure your webcam is connected. See also the lower left side bar. Start your Internet Explorer Enable download of ActiveX see the left side bar. Ask your system administrator for the address to the movi server. You will then receive an URL (IP address) or an alias, which your adminstrator has prepared for you. The URL/alias is to be used whenever you access the system in the future. Enter the address in the address field of the browser and click Enter. The movi web client will open in the browser and the client is ready for use. After a few seconds you should be able to see yourself.! To enable download of ActiveX you may need administrator rights or that your administrator has set your PC up to regard the movi server as a trusted site. Cannot See Yourself? Make sure your webcam is connected. See also the lower left side bar. Start your Internet Explorer Getting Started Everyday Use Enter the URL/alias needed (see above) and click Enter. After a few seconds you should be able to see yourself. If there is a greyish or all black image where you would expect to see yourself (aka selfview), this may be due to: Your webcam is not detected by your PC. Have you plugged the camera and installed the correct drivers? If so, then first check the camera with the software that accompanied the camera (e.g, Logitech QuickCapture). If it fails with other software packages, then it will probably fail with movi also. Another application is currently using the webcamera. A webcam can be used by only one program at a time. Close the other application and refresh the movi client. For some applications you may find the echo cancellation insufficient in this version. Consequently, we recommend the use of headphones.

4 Call Handling Manually About Call Handling Making a Call Dialling Manually Before you can make and receive calls the system must be started as described on the previous page. You may also want to set Preferences to your liking. Display Features and Settings Place the cursor in the white field and type in the alias of the person to be called, e.g. hedda.gabler@yourfirm.com. If in doubt, consult your administrator for more information. Click on the green telephone icon or press Enter on your PC keyboard to start calling. To terminate a call, click on the red telephone icon. To enter the Settings menus click the wrench symbol. To mute/activate your microphone, click this icon (shown unmuted here). To activate/deactivate the speaker, click this icon. hedda.gabler@yourfirm.n hedda.gabler@yourfirm.n To enable a small image of yourself superimposed onto the image of the other party, click in any corner of the video window. The small image will appear in the corner where you clicked. To move the small image to another corner, click in that corner. This feature is called Picture-in- Picture (PiP). 5 Call Handling Phone Book Usage About Call handling Making a Call Using the Phone Book Before you can make and receive calls the system must be started as described two pages back. You may also want to set Preferences to your liking. Click on the Contacts icon. Type a letter to start searching the phone book. Use the Arrow keys of your PC keyboard and/or click on the Prev/Next keys to locate the person and click on the name to select. Display Features and Settings To enter the Settings menus click the wrench symbol. To mute/activate your microphone, click this icon (shown unmuted here). To activate/deactivate the speaker, click this icon. To enable a small image of yourself superimposed onto the image of the other party, click in any corner of the video window. The small image will appear in the corner where you clicked. To move the small image to another corner, click in that corner. This feature is called Picture-in- Picture (PiP). To remove the PiP, click in the centre of the video window. The result of your search will be shown in lieu of the phone book list. The name will also appear in the field at the bottom. 6 Configuring the Client About Configuration The Configuration Process The Configuration panes let you set Preferences, which consists of three panes; Account, Connection and Video/Audio. Start the client as explained in the To Get You Up and Going section, and click on the little wrench to the right just above the selfview. The Account pane will now be displayed. My Account lets you specify a display name and the ability to share your details. If you click on the envelope, your client will generate a mail with contact information providing a link to you. Just fill in receiver s address and click on send in your client. Performance: Select between Automatic, Minimum, Medium, and Maximum. This sets the overall performance parameters, emphasizing bandwidth. You must save and restart for changes to become effective. You may have a set of cameras and sound equipment. Use this menu to specify which to use. If you need to produce DTMF tones during a call, simply use the numerical keys of your PC keyboard.
