The Windows Agent is used to set up Exchange 2013, 2010, and 2007 DR safeset shares for use with the Granular Restore application. Once you have created a safeset share, you can use the Granular Restore application to make your restore selections and restore to a PST file. This version of the application is intended for use with: Windows Agent 7.21 or later Vault 7.0 or later

3 1.1 Release History Version , October 15, Supported Platforms Granular Restore for Microsoft Exchange supports the following mail store versions: Exchange 2013 SP1 Exchange 2010 SP3 Exchange 2007 SP3 Operating systems: Windows Server 2012 R2 Windows Server 2012 Windows 8 Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2008 Windows 7 Windows Vista Windows Server 2003 Windows XP 2 NEW FEATURES This release includes the following new features and improvements: Search for EDBs and PSTs on local volumes and network disks Search within the contents of attachments (.txt,.doc,.docx,.xls,.xlsx,.ppt, and.pptx formats) Reuse of search indexes from previous program sessions Recovery of attached messages to PST files GMail-like search queries

4 3 INSTALLATION NOTES 3.1 Installation Requirements RAM: MB, depending on mail store size and OS version Hard disk: Minimum 20 MB of free space required for installation Permissions: The application should be run with administrator privileges, or some items may not be accessible. Note: Granular Restore for Microsoft Exchange may require a quantity of free space on disk that is 1.5 times the size of the mail store being processed (on the machine where Granular Restore for Microsoft Exchange is installed/used). For example, for a 300 MB mail store, 450 MB of free space should be available. 3.2 Conditional Requirements None 3.3 Licensing License keys are available from your service provider. You are prompted to enter your license key, user name, and company name when you first launch the application. 3.4 Install/Uninstall/Upgrade The Granular Restore for Microsoft Exchange application is available as a self extracting installation kit: GRExchange msi Note: Granular Restore for Microsoft Exchange installs for a single user. There are no shortcuts for other users in the same system. You can uninstall the application through Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall, or by running the installation kit. You can upgrade the application by running the installation kit. 4 FIXES, KNOWN ISSUES AND LIMITATIONS 4.1 Fixes The application can now restore data from a Secondary Restore Server to a PST file. (28300) A PST file created using the Granular Restore application can now be opened in Outlook 2013 without first being repaired. (27684)

5 The application now prompts for a password when you open a password-protected PST file. (27496) 4.2 Known Issues If you run the installation kit from an earlier version of the Exchange GR application, the application can be downgraded to the earlier version. (25139) You cannot restore attached s to a user s mailbox. However, you can restore attached s to PST files. (23780) 4.3 Limitations "Run as different user" mode is not supported. In "Run as different user" mode, log files do not open and the application crashes when saving s to PST files. (25462) Simultaneous restores are not supported. Only one save can be run at a time. Note: Multiple selections of objects to be restored to a.pst file are processed as a single save Job. So these multiple selections are supported. (23816) Simultaneous running of more than one instance of the Granular Restore application is not supported. (23815) Restores of Journal items are currently not supported. (23814) Restores of encrypted s and embedded objects are currently not supported. (23804/23780) Exchange transaction log files are not processed/read. They are skipped by the application. PST saves/restores do not contain messages from the transaction logs because the application skips Exchange transaction logs. Separate attachments are not restored. Messages in the Outbox folder are not restored if they have not been synchronized with the server. Messages larger than 64 MB are not supported. For injection, search, and other limitations, see the Granular Restore for Microsoft Exchange User Guide Limitations and boundaries for optimal recovery and search Granular Restore for Microsoft Exchange is optimal for datasets that do not exceed the following limits.

6 Database size: 500 GB Mailbox size: 100 GB Number of messages in the database: 2,000,000 Number of mailboxes in the database: 2,000 Number of messages in one mailbox: 100,000 Note: The application is best used for granular data extraction. The program can also be used to export the whole database but recovery time significantly increases with the database size and the number of messages. It is much more efficient to restore an entire database by running an Exchange DR restore Job, using the same safeset.
