2 Introduction The JANUS and SiteGuard Metrics Collection utility is intended to help the process of upgrading JANUS and SiteGuard installations to SATEON. It is a straightforward utility that can be run on a server to gather metrics about the size and complexity of the site. This information will enable Grosvenor Technology Professional Services to obtain detailed information about the migration requirements and provide an accurate quotation. The utility works with JANUS and SiteGuard versions 3.1, 4.0, 4.2 and 4.3. Any versions prior to and including JANUS/SiteGuard 3.0 are not supported. Data Collected The following JANUS/SiteGuard data is collected by the utility: Site code and serial number Number and type of all boxes/panels Number and type of all comms lines Total number of cards in use Total number of doors Total number of readers Total number of inputs Total number of outputs Total number of timezones Total number of APB areas The following data is not collected by the utility and must be noted manually Total number of user records Total number of card designs Reader types in use The output from the tool will be an encrypted file containing all the sizing information, which should then be passed to Grosvenor Technology Technical Support by to: ac-emeasupport@grosvenortechnology.com. 3 Obtaining the Utility Grosvenor Technology regularly update the utility to enhance the range of information that is collected. It s always worth checking that you have the latest version of the utility. To obtain the latest version please visit: Newer versions of the utility may introduce support for older JANUS versions or collect additional system metrics to further simplify the upgrade process. Running the Utility The utility is provided as a single executable called JANUSSGMetrics.exe. As the resulting data file is saved to the same location, we recommend that it is run from a USB stick. To run the utility 1. Run the JANUSSGMetrics.exe file. A screen as follows appears. Note that if a JANUS or SiteGuard system is recognised on the computer the Server field is completed automatically. If no JANUS or SiteGuard system is discovered on the server it remains blank, e.g: JANUS and Siteguard Metric Tool 3 January 2016

4 In this case enter the fully-qualified name of the server on which JANUS/SiteGuard is running. 2. Click Connect and Collect to start the metrics collection. A screen as follows will appear while this in progress: Once the process is in progress the status indicator will change to green. 3. 5 Note that the Outstanding data requests indicator at the bottom of the page is now 0 indicating the process has finished. 4. Click the Close button. 5. The output file containing the sizing information is encrypted and is saved in the same location as the utility. The output files have a name extension of.jmef. 6 Additional Required Data As well as the data captured by the JANUS & SiteGuard Metrics application, we must also gather information on two other areas of the system: 1. Number of Card Designs Any card designs created in JANUS / SIteGuard will need to be recreated in SATEON. Therefore, please advise us of how many card designs are currently in use by the end user. The end user may be able to advise how many different card designs are in use use. If you need to obtain this information electronically, the number of designs on the system can be determined by opening the JANUS / SiteGuard Database application. Once logged on click on the Card icon at the top and then click New. Now click in the Card Production Design box and select choices. A list will be displayed which will contain the available card designs. If the list is empty, then the system is not being used to print cards. 2. 7 SATEON can support many of the reader types that JANUS and SiteGuard support. To ensure a smooth upgrade process, please inform us of the Reader Types in use on the site. This allows us to ensure that your reader technology is still supported. To find out this information please open the JANUS or SiteGuard Database application and log on. Click on the Reader icon at the top of the screen to open a blank reader record. Now click the Choices button which will provide a list of all the readers. Select the top reader and click OK Send Us Your Data Please send your output file along with the number of card designs and reader types to ac-emeasupport@grosvenortechnology.com to request a quotation. Please also include any additional requirements that you may have such as additional panels, readers or cards or if you need assistance with recommended server specifications. If Your Version is Not Supported Should the JANUS & SiteGuard Metrics application be run on an unsupported version then the application will notify you that it cannot complete the extract.
