3 Preparing the Camera The guide doesn t describe how to prepare the camera, e.g. inserting the battery and memory card, charging the battery, setting the date and time, setting the display language, formatting the memory card For more details, please see the camera user guide. Installing Camera and Filter 1. Install the conversion lens adapter to camera 2. Attach ring- adapter to conversion lens adapter 3. Install camera on handy hood 4. Put on the filter Step 4 Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 When you use a glass filter, install onto φ52mm sleeve. For gelatin filter, slide and place it on the filter tray. Reading This First The guide describes one of the recommended settings for gel documentation. Please re-adjust for your specific documenting environment, methods, purposes, and objects. Getting Started 1. Please set your camera manually as described below. 2. Select [P (program auto)] or [M (manual)] for shooting. It is difficult to capture high quality image with full automatic since gel documentation take place in a darkroom environment. 2

Basic Operations 1. Setting up After installing filter, set up GOODJOB ICAN-FluorUV on the UV Transilluminator.

Adjusting Zoom Adjust camera zoom for shooting range you desire. Please note: when zoom is too high,it will be out focus on close range.

(Some cameras are not equipped with manual focus) Place adjustment sheet on transilluminator to focus when using manual focus.

Setting the ISO speed High ISO speed is preferred Set second or third ISO speed.

Adjusting the brightness (exposure) 1) When camera is only equipped with auto mode, set mode dial to P and adjust exposure by pressing [+/-]

2) When camera is equipped with manual mode, - Firstly, turn mode dial to M and set F number to minimum.

4 Basic Operations 1. Setting up After installing filter, set up GOODJOB ICAN-FluorUV on the UV Transilluminator. Place Transilluminator in a way that Transilluminator s surface is covered by hood. 2. Adjusting Zoom Adjust camera zoom for shooting range you desire. Please note: when zoom is too high,it will be out focus on close range. Zoom level 3. Focusing Set macro shooting mode when using auto focus. Use manual focus when it is hard to focus with Auto focus. (Some cameras are not equipped with manual focus) Place adjustment sheet on transilluminator to focus when using manual focus. Fluorescence agent applied to the focusing sheet would radiate when subjected to UV. Approx. 30cm Adjustment Sheet 4. Setting the ISO speed High ISO speed is preferred Set second or third ISO speed. (raising the ISO speed to the MAX would result in objects to be appearing coarse and blurry) 5. Adjusting the brightness (exposure) 1) When camera is only equipped with auto mode, set mode dial to P and adjust exposure by pressing [+/-] button ( [+] for brighter, and [-] for darker picture). 2) When camera is equipped with manual mode, - Firstly, turn mode dial to M and set F number to minimum. - Secondly, set shutter speed at 1 second. 3) If image still looks dark, set longer shutter speed, and if image is too bright set shorter shutter speed. When you set it too bright, sometimes background will be captured along. 6. Turning off the flash - Shoot with flash turned off. 7. Image stabilization - When captured image is unstable and shaky, please consider to use self-timer for shooting. 8. B/W (black and white) setting - B/W setting gives you higher contrast and makes it easier for observation. 9. Registering Shooting Setting 3
