V6.00 BETA FIRMWARE INSTALLATION NOTES IMPORTANT NOTES: Make a backup of your programming before proceeding. It is recommended that you load V6.00 firmware with your existing editor. Then update your editor. DO NOT update your drivers. They haven't changed. RECOMMENDED UPGRADE PROCESS from firmware v5.x or below: Use currently installed editor to load firmware V6.00+ Close the editor and uninstall. Install V6.00+ of the editor Upon connecting to a LF+ that was updated to V6.x for the first time, the editor should automatically detect such event and install INTERNAL DATA UPDATE. If you did not see the message in #4 above, you can manually do this process. Only do it once. Go to [HARDWARE] menu, and select the option [SPECIAL - UPDATE INTERNAL DATA] You are now on the new v6.x platform for the LF+.

V6.00 System Firmware Release Notes SYSTEM SPECIFIC NOTES NEW: Internal Processing Engine V6 (71 internal feature enhancements, modifications, or fixes) NEW: Expander engine updated for compatibility with new FAMC devices coming to market. Faster expander syncing NEW: KEMPER KPA Engine (See below for new firmware features) NEW: AXE-FX III Engine (See below for new firmware features) FIX / MOD: Expander System o Forced an improper button start value on expander under certain circumstances o Button LCD will blink when alternate controller modifies an IA-Slot. Provides quick visual indication NEW/ FIX / MOD: Programming Commands o [Button Start Value] command allows full virtual button range o [AUTO TAP TEMPO] Timing engine is now accurate to sub-millisecond in all cases o [AUTO TAP TEMPO] Tempo speed that is out of the range of (49bpm - 300bpm)(200ms ms) will no longer default to 100bpm. It will not ignore now o [SYSEX SEND] was able to transmit bad data if starting message didn't begin with valid MIDI value o [EXT CHANCE SCENE] allows specific scene changes in AXE-FX 3 o [EXT CHANGE CHAN] allows specific channel changes in AXE-FX3 NEW / FIX / MOD: IA-Slot o Parameter: Allow Preset Resend. When [ON]: [Presets set to resend IA-Slot] and [set to Sync with External Device] will process the IA- Slots programming. Default [OFF] o TYPE [Tap-Tempo] Timing engine is now accurate to 1 millisecond

o SYNC DEVICE: AXE-FX II with SYNC EFFECT set to X/Y State. Not processed properly under certain circumstances o Internal auto-correct programming mistakes when they appear invalid for a given IA-Slot. Trying to force steps that don't exist will auto-correct. o IA-Slots assigned to sync with external devices can now also process any set of programming commands MOD: [TAP TEMPO] Valid range extended [50bpm (1200ms)] -> [300bpm (200ms)] note: below 48bpm will reset the LF+ BPM calculator (assume tapping has stopped). MOD: Internal updates 82 internal fixes / modifications / enhancements / performance boosts outside of the new V6.00 engine features. FIX: [BANK SCROLLING] Banks set to trigger scroll events no longer retrigger presets when you reach the top or bottom bank and continue to hold the BANK DOWN/UP button. FIX: [PRESET EXTERNAL SYNC] Preset s initial IA-Slot definitions from KEMPER live sync not always saved into preset Initial States when Save Parameter was ON NEW: [PRESET 1 TIME LIVE SYNC / SAVE] This Parameter (coming soon) will allow a live Sync to capture an external device Preset Name/ and Effects States one time and then save it into the preset. This will speed up future Preset triggering of that preset by not live sync'ing. Resetting this feature will force ALL presets to do 1:1 Sync again. So changes made to your AXE-FX or KEMPER can automatically load/save into the Preset on the next trigger.

V6.00 KEMPER related notes NOTE TO KEMPER PROFILER USERS: PLEASE read the release notes below. You should update your IA-Slots. Remove any programming commands for Sync'd IA-Slots. Life just got easier. Also note that there are new Functions that can sync to your IA-Slots. Performance mode controls are now automatic. The LF+ will handle all sync related functions automatically. No need to auto-load programming if you don t want to. IA-Slots will rename themselves in real-time to follow the current PERFORMANCE you are using in the KEMPER. THERE ARE TWO MODES OF OPERATION with the Kemper. Browser and Performance. The LF+ will switch automatically between the two modes, however, it is recommended that you create your layout specific to one of those modes. You may prefer to setup a different page for each mode. PERFORMANCE mode features within the LF+ allow for you to assign IA-Slots to handle Performance RIG selection. IA-Slots can also be assigned to PERFORMANCE UP and PERFORMANCE DOWN. Thus, with almost no effort, you can assign those IA-Slots to a page, and then control the KEMPER live. The IA-Slots are now intelligent and will rename themselves in real-time to match your currently active performance in its RIG (preset) names. LOAD THE SAMPLE programming file from Editor V6+ (File Menu). Load this into your LF+ to immediately have it become the remote control. Review the programming file for ideas on how to set things up. The NEW SYNC engine within the editor now allows for performance and browser layouts. NEW: Mode Detection: The LF+ will automatically detect what mode the Kemper is in and process accordingly. You can change between modes from the Kemper itself in real-time if needed. NEW: IA-Slots o EFFECT SYNC: Added PERFORMANCE MODE Rig Selection functions. This will enable automatic NAME and STATE sync for rigs of current PERFORMANCE loaded

o EFFECT SYNC: Added PERFORMANCE MODE Rig Selection functions. These IA-Slots can only be ON or OFF. Set the Colors of those two options. LF+ will auto-sync the state o EFFECT SYNC: Added PERFORMANCE UP Selection function. This will automatically go to the next PERFORMANCE. Acting like a Bank UP command o EFFECT SYNC: Added PERFORMANCE DOWN Selection function. This will automatically go to the next PERFORMANCE. Acting like a Bank DOWN command o EFFECT SYNC: Added TUNER function. Automatically goes into Tuner mode o EFFECT SYNC: Added TAP TEMPO function. Automatically triggers a Tap command to the Kemper NEW: KEMPER - Browse mode : Global Setting [External Follow] will update LF+ Preset Names to match NEW: KEMPER - Performance mode: With global Setting [PRESET NAME SOURCE] set to KEMPER, the LF+ will sync in real-time without the LF+ changing its own preset. This allows "remote control" layouts with your Kemper. Use IA-Slots set to SYNC with your Performance RIG SLOTS 1-5, and use the PERF UP and PERF DOWN sync effects on 2 other IA-Slots. You now have full remote control with no further programming required. In the editor [File] menu, select the sample factory Kemper_Sync_Performance_Remote programming. This will load a 100% complete programming file into your LF+. Select the page layout based on the model of LF+ you have. The sample includes a layout for Mini/JR+, 12/12+, and Pro+ models. IMPORTANT KEMPER RELATED NOTE: *** V6.00+ *** o V6.00+ no longer requires programming commands for IA-Slots that are SYNC'd to a KEMPER effect or function. Once you program the IA- Slot to Sync, the LF+ will process and sync automatically. You may add other programming commands to the ON and BYPASS command area, however, you should not program any KEMPER related commands to trigger the function you are sync'ing. If you are not controlling any other devices with these IA-Slots, then set all commands to "EMPTY".

o Programming files created with firmware prior to V6.00 will most likely contain KEMPER related midi commands. Prior firmware will still require those midi commands. V6.00 will transmit redundant commands if you don't clean out the programming commands. You should clear out any KEMPER midi messages related to the effect you are sync'ing. Note that once you make these changes to your programming file, those IA-Slots will no longer function properly with firmware prior to V6.00. The programming files will load fine, however, no KEMPER activity will occur given the missing MIDI commands. o Kemper Remote Control Emulation programming file will configure the Editor with a complete set of programming that gives you access to most of the KEMPER Effects IA-Slots pre-programmed. It also includes a page that is configured to immediately allow the LF+ to control the Kemper while in Performance Mode, in real-time. The default page is configured so that Buttons 1 and 5 scroll up/down through performances. Buttons 2,3,4,6 and 7 are assigned the 5 performance RIG slots. Each of the performance buttons will automatically update with the current RIG (preset) defined in the performance. You can trigger and manage in real-time. The LF+ will automatically show the performance name, and automatically assign the Rig Slot IA-Slots with the actual names in real-time. The buttons will automatically stay in sync so you know which RIG (preset) is currently active. Simple Setup:

Zoomed in Setup of global settings to allow the KEMPER to automatically sync in real-time. Notice the SAVE SYNC d Preset Name and SAVE IA STATES are not turned on. If you would like your presets to save the external PRESET NAME and/or IA-SLOT STATES, then turn these parameters on. Each preset will allow you to set either SYNC PRESET NAME and/or IA-Slot states. Those presets set to sync will save the information within the preset automatically as you are using the LF+. Below is a fully configured IA-Slot to control STOMP A effect. In realtime the IA-Slot will name itself to whatever EFFECT is active in the current Preset. No further programming is required!

Below is a list of the KEMPER SYNC EFFECTS or FUNCTIONS that you can choose from. The IA-Slot will automatically take over these sync functions with no further programming required.

Below is a simplified page layout example when using Performance mode. This layout with the IA-Slots configured to Sync the named function on each button below will automatically process everything required.

V6.00 AXE-FX related notes NOTE TO AXE-FX III USERS: Please note that the AXE-FX III engine is automated. This is unlike your probable experience with AXE-FX/AXE-FX II setup in the LF+. All Sync'd effects in an IA-Slot are automated. There is NO reason to enter programming commands. If you are migrating from AXE-FX I/II type devices, then do the following to your programming: o For each sync'd IA-Slot, change the SYNC Device to AXE-FX III. Then select the Effect from the Effect List. Notice you can assign Effects, SCENE1-8 control, TAP-TEMPO and TUNER. NO PROGRAMMING is needed once these options are selected. Remove any MIDI commands or external SYNC commands. For the AXE-FX III, assigning the SYNC EFFECT / FUNCTION, and TYPE is all that is needed. o If you change an AXE-FX I/II sync of SCENE1 - SCENE8, remove any midi commands, external sync commands, or grouping of those IA- Slots. The LF+ will handle everything automatically. It will rename those scenes in real-time as well as you change presets. No programming is required from you. o No G-Tuner command is needed unless you don't sync an IA-Slot to TUNER from the Effect Drop Down List. Load the sample AXE-FX III programming file from the editor's [FILE] menu. This will create a programming template for you to look at and modify as you wish. It will sync and work as is with no further programming. A handful of effects are assigned to IA-Slots. Some are BYPASS related, others are CHAN SELECTION IA-Slots. This will give you an idea of how easy it is to program. Notice that no programming commands are needed for the AXE-FX III. *** IF YOU ARE STARTING NEW with an AXE-FX III *** Once you have V6.00 of the editor installed and connected to the LF+. Go to [EXTERNAL DEVICES] MENU and select the Sync option. Enter your desired installation type from the drop down menu. Make sure you have the "Auto Program IA-Slots" turned on. The Sync will find every Effect that you have in all of your presets within the AXE-FX III and auto-program them into the system for you. You may allow the External Sync in the editor to auto program the IA-Slots for you, however, you will have more control if you pre-program your IA-Slots. For those Slots you would like to control the CHANNEL of an EFFECT, the Sync will

automatically store the correct channel information into presets if you have defined those IA-Slots ahead of time. In the [FILE] menu, there is a new factory programming file for the AXE-FX III. Select this option and the editor will program itself with various AXE-FX III capabilities. In fact, you can load this into your LF+ and you will have full live sync control without any further effort. Review the programming in this setup. You will see how to control CHANNELS, EFFECTS, SCENE's and more. V6.00 AXE-FX III related notes: NEW: Smart Sync: The LF+ will automatically control the AXE-FX III with no additional programming once you select an Effect to Sync NEW: SCENE NAME DISPLAY will automatically display with the Main Preset Name if the Global Settings: [PRESET NAME SOURCE] is set to AXE-FX NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC EFFECT: [TUNER] If SYNC'd to EFFECT 'TUNER' for AXE-FX III, it will automatically handle all programming. Leave the IA-Slot command programming Empty NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC EFFECT: [TAP-TEMPO] if SYNC'd to EFFECT 'TAP TEMPO' for AXE-FX III, it will automatically handle all programming. Leave the IA-Slot command programming Empty NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC EFFECT: [SCENE 1]->[SCENE 8] if set to sync with a SCENE, it will automatically handle all programming/sync and rename the IA-Slot in real-time. Leave command programming Empty NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC EFFECT: [LOOP <functions>] the LF+ will automatically handle all programming/sync in real-time. Leave the command programming Empty NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC EFFECT TYPE: Either control the bypass state of the chosen Effect, or control/display the CHANNEL of the chosen effect. NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC TYPE CHANNEL: Parameter [CHAN CYCLE RANGE] will allow you to limit changes to: CHAN A only, CHAN A/B, CHAN A/B/C, or All Channels NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC TYPE CHANNEL: Will automatically cycle through channels each time the IA-Slot is triggered. Control of which channels are cycles is available via parameter [CHAN CYCLE RANGE]

NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC TYPE CHANNEL: Using an IA-Slot TYPE: [STEP], combined with a SYNC EFFECT CHANNEL setting, the LF+ will automatically trigger the step programming associated with the active CHANNEL of the assigned effect. Triggering the IA-Slot will automatically select the next CHANNEL in the AXE-FX3. STEPS allow sophisticated control with channel selection. NEW: IA-Slot - When multiple IA-Slots Sync to the same effect, only the triggered IA-Slot will execute its commands. This allows multiple IA-Slots to remain in sync with each other, but process differently. Works with both BYPASS and CHAN SELECTION type Sync. ANY switch type combination is allows (Steps, Stomp, etc...) NEW: Programming Command: [CHANGE EXT DEVICE CHANNEL] Forces a particular effect into a particular channel. NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC EFFECT display: All Sync'd effects will display the current CHANNEL on the second line of button LCD when not using [2 function display] global setting. NEW: IA-Slot - SYNC EFFECT display: All Sync'd SCENE effects will automatically update the displayed names of scenes. no programming is required other then selecting the Sync Effect desired. NEW: EXPRESSION PEDAL HEEL/TOE IA-Slot triggering. Heel and Toe triggers for each Expression pedal can now include IA-Slot types: STOMP, QUICK-Tap and Tap-Tempo. Momentary and STEP IA-Slots are not allowed. Sync'd IA-Slots will not process as sync'd slots to avoid midi loops that can be caused by certain external effects devices. EXAMPLES: Setting up the LF+ to automatically sync and process AXE-FX III controls is relatively simple. Global settings must be set. 1. MIDI IN and MIDI OUT cables must be connected for 2-way live SYNC. 2. MIDI THRU turned OFF 3. GLOBAL SETTING: MIDI CHANNEL DEVICE NAME set to AXE-FX3 in the proper midi channel. Alternatively, If you do an auto-sync via the editor, it will program all of this for you. 4. Make sure the AXE-FX III has Realtime SYSEX turned ON for tuner and taptempo to function properly.

5. Configure your IA-Slots with Sync parameters you desire. Below is an example of a fully configured IA-Slot.. You may want to change the OFF AND BYPASS colors to match your desired settings. The SYNC parameters for the AXE-FX III are all you need to program. Notice there are no programming commands. Also notice that the Editor selected Preset Label #1 automatically. This is because the LF+ can automatically save SCENE names within those labels on a PRESET. While it s not required, it makes it easier to understand your presets when you are not live (using the Editor as an 6. example).

7. CHANNELS. AXE-FX III allows effects to switch between channels A, B, C, D. The LF+ has several ways of handling channels with minimal effort on your part. You can set an IA-Slot to TYPE: STOMP, or STEP. If you would like to simply switch between channels, then leave the TYPE: STOMP, set your SYNC EFFECT TYPE to SYNC FX CHANNEL. You have several parameters that will show up on the editor. ALLOWED CYCLE RANGE, USE STATE COLORS, BLOCK TRIGGER CYCLE. a. You may limit the # of channels the LF+ will cycle between. For instance if you wanted to only cycle a particular effect between a smaller range of channels then the normal A->D, you may make that change using the Cycle range parameter. You can choose from [A->D], [A->C], [A->B], or [A] only. b. CHANNELS can also be set to type STEP. This is VERY POWERFUL if required. The CHANNELS will automatically trigger the step corresponding to the channel that is active. STEP 1 will trigger when the preset has CHAN A active, STEP 2 for CHAN B, STEP 3 for CHAN C, and STEP 4 for CHAN D. For example, let s say you wanted an external device (other then the AXE-FX) to sync with a particular AMP chan assigned in a preset. Set the IA-SLOT to TYPE STEP, define your STEPS and program the MIDI commands to switch your outboard gear. As the channels change when switching SCENES, PRESETS or otherwise, the LF+ will automatically follow along and process your STEPS. c. A single PAGE layout may have multiple IA-Slots sync d to the SAME EFFECT, and even CHANNEL SELECT. This can further provide sophisticated control, because each STEP or STOMP IA-SLOT can and will process its own commands, although ALL CHANNEL IA-SLOTS will always remain in SYNC. So pressing IA-SLOT that is a STOMP of a particular CHAN will trigger it s commands, while not triggering the other IA-Slots at the same time. However, they will all remain in sync. Enormous flexibility is thus created.

Below is a setup of a CHAN SELECT IA-SLOT. No further programming is required. This IA-Slot is configured to SYNC with the AXE-FX III. It will automatically sync with the AMP1 EFFECT, and notice the TYPE is set to SYNC FX CHANNEL. So therefore it will handle the Channel selection and not the BYPASS STATE. Note that the USE STATE COLORS parameter is turned on. When this is ON, your IA-Slot color choices will show up on the BUTTON LCD based on the state of the CHANNEL. The OFF color will represent CHANNEL A, the ON state will represent CHAN B. the BYPASS state will represent CHAN C. The BLOCKED state will represent CHAN D. Notice that the colors will automatically display CHAN A,. Next to the color drop downs on the editor. So you know what you are programming.

Notice CHAN A, CHAN B, CHAN C, CHAN D next to the color drop downs based on how this IA-SLOT was configured above. The colors selected in this picture would need corrections. Why? CHAN A will show up as DIM PURPLE. CHAN B will display a BRIGHT PURPLE. CHAN C and CHAN D will both display no color. That is why the labels show up on the editor. To re-enforce that you should make all color choices when using CHANNEL selection SYNC types. Note below that when we created this IA-Slot, the Editor automatically named our STEPs for us in case we decide to use them. You can replace the default names of course.

You do not have to create IA-SLOTS that are live sync d to control SCENE and CHANNELS. There are two programming commands designed to handle this task. In the picture below we show both of the commands on the same IA-Slot. This may not make sense given you are triggering a SCENE which probably has the initial layout how you want it. with regard to channels. This is just for reference. The SCENE# command is simple. Just tell it which SCENE you want to Trigger. That is all you need to do. The CHAN# command is similar. You have great control with the CHAN command. You can select the EFFECT in the AXE-FX III you want to change. You then select the CHAN to change to. In the below example, the LF+ IA- SLOT will trigger SCENE 1, and then switch the DELAY 1 EFFECT to CHANNEL C.

One of the newer features of the editor is the IA-Slot Quick Program Screen. Notice the icon located within the yellow box below. This is your QUICK PROGRAM icon. This will open up a very POWERFUL editor for IA-Slots. While the screen doesn't look like much, the options and capabilities will expedite your IA-Slot programming and management.

How to use the Quick Programming screen. 1. Click into the NAME or NICK NAME columns. You can now quickly change names. Press the UP, DOWN, TAB or ENTER keys to quick make your edits. ALL edits are made live to your IA-Slots. Once you exit this screen, your edits will be available. 2. Click your mouse on one of the IA-Slots color selections and they will cycle. The color heading will indicate the function of the selected IA-Slot being edited. If it is a CHAN SELECTION SYNC d IA-Slot, the heading will show you CHAN A, B, C, D. Otherwise it will indicate the STATE of the IA-Slot (OFF, ON, BYPASS, BLOCKED). The Selected IA-Slot below is a normal IA-Slot, so it shows the OFF, ON, BYPASS and BLOCK COLORs. Below is a selected IA-Slot that is SYNC d to CHANNEL SELECTION type, so the heading shows CHAN A, B, C, D.

The Left side of the editor is very powerful. Perhaps it s better to say that it can be a massive time saver! Notice two sections of this list. First at the top are commands. CLEAR IA-SLOT If you drag this command onto an IA-Slot on the right side, it will clear the entire IA-Slot to default settings. This will erase the entire IA-Slot. CLEAR SYNC If you drag this command onto an IA-Slot, it will remove all external SYNC related programming. CLEAR PROGRAMMING if you drag this command onto an IA-Slot, it will erase all of the programming commands contained in the ON and BYPASS programming areas. USE SYNC FX NAMES this command is used in conjunction with a selection of 1 (or more) of the device effects from the list below it. If you drag 1 or more effects onto an IA-Slot on the right, then each of the selected effects will automatically be programming into the IA-Slots, starting with the first selected IA- Slot. The USE SYNC FX NAMES command will tell the editor to rename each of the IA-Slots to the EFFECT being programed into the IA- Slots. This saves a lot of time. AXEFX 2 PROG FX MIDI This command will show up at the top if you have AXE-FX I/II effects shown in the list. This will not only program the SYNC information, but automatically program the ON and BYPASS programming areas of the IA-Slot(s). A completely configured IA-Slot in seconds!

At the bottom of the Quick Editor window are three switches. By turning them ON (or OFF), you will change what effects are visible in the drag-n-drop selection list. Turn on the functions you need access to. Please note the following: 1. COMMANDS and effects can be selected at the same time. If only one EFFECT is selected, the Commands selected at top will only apply to the IA-Slot you drop the selection onto. Effectively updating only one IA-Slot. 2. If you select more then one EFFECT from the list (with or without commands as well), the editor will drop the first effect in the list to the IA-Slot you chose to drop them onto. The Editor will then program each consecutive IA-Slot until all of your selected EFFECTS have been programmed. 3. You may choose more then one COMMAND at the top of the drag list. Each of the commands will be applied to each of the IA-Slots being programmed. 4. You are not required to update ALL IA-Slots at one time. You can choose groups of EFFECTS and place them. Then choose another group and place those someone else. No rules. This Quick editor could allow you program all 180 IA-Slots within a matter of seconds! ALL SYNC parameters programmed for you, names programmed, and even MIDI commands if required. 5. Once you ve made a selection of EFFECTS you are then ready to DRAG and DROP onto the first IA-Slot. IF YOU PRESS AND HOLD DOWN THE [ALT] key while you start dragging your commands/effects over, then any EFFECTS dragged over will program the CHANNEL selection for AXE-FX III effects, or XY state selection for AXE-FX II. [ALT] key has no effect on KEMPER effects given they don t have a TYPE associated with their sync capabilities.
