APPENDIX C Quaternary Map Bedrock Map (Obtained from Geological Survey of Sweden)
The map shows a generalized view of the surface and near surface distribution of different soil types, i.e. unconsolidated deposits. Layers with an average thickness less than 0,5 to one meter are generally not shown, but are in places distinguished with overlays. A selection of land forms is shown. Mapping is based mainly on air photo interpretation. Thus there is an uncertainty to the accuracy of soil classification and areal delimitations. The accuracy is best in areas densely intersected by roads. Spatial accuracy is approximately in the range of one to a few hundred meters. For many uses, e.g. physical planning, more detailed information is needed. Additional data, e.g. information about subsurface soil distribution, is stored in SGU s databases and may be ordered from SGU, as may for example map descriptions. Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) Head Office: Box 670 SE Uppsala, Sweden Tel: +46 (0) kundservice@sgu.se Scale 1: km Topographic background: GSD-General Map Lantmäteriet. MS2009/08799 Grid in black shows coordinates in SWEREF 99 TM. Grid in brown indicates latitude and longitude in the reference system SWEREF 99.
The map shows a generalized view of the bedrock distribution. Observations of rock types and age relations are performed on outcrops. The composition of bedrock that is covered by unconsolidated sediments is interpreted from observations on nearby outcrops, geophysical measurements and, where applicable, from drill core analyses or diggings. Areas too small to show on the map are represented as dots or line objects. Accuracy in the position is normally better than 50 m for observations. For interpreted phenomena, e.g. rock type boundaries, the accuracy may be much lower. Additional information is stored in SGU s database, e.g. detailed information about mineralizations or the bedrock s mineral content, chemical composition, petrophysical characteristics or natural radioactive radiation, and can be ordered from SGU. Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) Head Office: Box 670 SE Uppsala, Sweden Tel: +46 (0) kundservice@sgu.se km Scale 1: Topographic background: GSD-General Map Lantmäteriet. MS2009/08799 Grid in black shows coordinates in SWEREF 99 TM. Grid in brown indicates latitude and longitude in the reference system SWEREF 99.
APPENDIX D Groundwater Map (Obtained from Geological Survey of Sweden)
The groundwater map shows a generalized view of aquifers and their capacities. Watersheds and groundwater flow directions are also shown. The map is based on SGU s Quaternary, and bedrock maps, data is completed with studies of archive material and previous investigations, measurements of groundwater levels, spring inventories, drillings, installation of groundwater observation wells and water sampling. The map data is designed to be presented in the scale 1: The information is stored in SGU s database which, in addition, contains detailed information that cannot be represented on the map, e.g. information about layer sequences, water analyses, and data on groundwater levels. Additional data can be ordered from SGU. Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) Head Office: Box 670 SE Uppsala, Sweden Tel: +46 (0) kundservice@sgu.se Scale 1: km Topographic background: GSD-General Map Lantmäteriet. MS2009/08799 Grid in black shows coordinates in SWEREF 99 TM. Grid in brown indicates latitude and longitude in the reference system SWEREF 99.
APPENDIX E Aeromagnetic Map (Obtained from Geological Survey of Sweden)
The magnetic properties of the Earth's crust are mainly determined by its content of magnetite, a magnetic mineral. The map shows measured variations in the magnetic total field after subtraction of the geomagnetic reference field (DGRF ), and is based on airborne measurements performed at an altitude of 30 to 60 meters. The unit of magnetic field is nanotesla (nt). The data give information on bedrock structures. Anomaly patterns reflect the distribution of various rock types, containing various amounts of magnetite, at surface and depth. Faults and their relative movements show as dislocations in the magnetic pattern. Data are used for geological mapping and exploration, and is particularly useful in areas where most of the bedrock is covered by soil and water, as in Sweden. The information is stored in the SGU database and can be ordered from SGU. Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) Head Office: Box 670 SE Uppsala, Sweden Tel: +46 (0) kundservice@sgu.se km Scale 1: Topographic background: GSD-General Map Lantmäteriet. MS2009/08799 Grid in black shows coordinates in SWEREF 99 TM. Grid in brown indicates latitude and longitude in the reference system SWEREF 99.
APPENDIX F Uranium Map (Obtained from Geological Survey of Sweden)
The map shows the spatial distribution of uranium in the uppermost part of the soil and bedrock. The uranium content is expressed in ppm (parts per million) eu, where the prefix e indicates that radiometric equilibrium is assumed in the decay chain of uranium. SGU has performed airborne gamma-ray surveys of the natural gamma-ray emitters in the ground since the late 1960 s. Data on gamma radiation, i.e radioactive ionizing radiation, is used, inter alia, to discriminate rock types and for the purpose of radon studies and the effort to achieve a safe radiation environment. The measurements allow for the amounts of the naturally occurring radioactive isotopes - potassium, uranium and thorium to be calculated. The information is stored in the SGU database and can be ordered from SGU. (Bq/kg) Uranium (ppm eu) >98 > <6 <0,5 Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) Head Office: Box 670 SE Uppsala, Sweden Tel: +46 (0) kundservice@sgu.se km Scale 1: Topographic background: GSD-General Map Lantmäteriet.
