2 Basic functions: SUM: Adds a range of cells together AVERAGE: Calculates the average of a range of cells COUNT: Counts the number of chosen data in a range of cells MAX: Identifies the largest number in a range of cells MIN: Identifies the smallest number in a range of cells

3 Let's look at some Excel SUM function examples Based on the spreadsheet above, find the answers return for following examples : =SUM(A2, A3) =SUM(A3, A5, 45) =SUM(A2:A6) =SUM(A2:A3, A5:A6) =SUM(A2:A3, A5:A6, 500)

4 Average function Based on the spreadsheet above, find the answers return for following examples: =AVERAGE(B2, B3) =AVERAGE(B3, B5, 45) =AVERAGE(B2:B6)

5 Count function Based on the spreadsheet above, the following Excel COUNT examples would return?? =COUNT(A1:A6)

6 MAX function Based on the spreadsheet above, the following Excel MAX examples would return?? =MAX(A2, A3) =MAX(A2:A6)

7 MIN function Based on the spreadsheet above, the following Excel MIN examples would return?? =MIN(A2, A3) =MIN(A2:A6)

8 Fill Cells Automatically You can use Microsoft Excel to fill cells automatically with a series. For example, you can have Excel automatically fill your worksheet with days of the week, months of the year, years, or other types of series. Adjust Column Width Move your mouse pointer over the line that separates column B and C. The Width Indicator appears. Double-click. The Column adjusts to fit the longest entry.

9 IF Function Can be used to incorporate conditional logic into spreadsheet formula It will test the condition and then return one of t o alues True or False This may consist of any type of data including numbers, text, formulas or other logical expressions The syntax of If function consist of three arguments IF (logical test, value if TRUE, value if FALSE)

10 Using Boolean Operators in IF Function The following Boolean operators can be used to express conditional logic:

11 Using compound conditions in IF functions Conditional logic can be compounded by including the and or or functions within the logical text argument of an if function. The syntax of compound and function as follows (if all arguments are true) IF (AND(cond 1, cond 2,cond 3,----)X,Y) The syntax of compound or function as follows (only one argument need to be true) IF (OR(cond 1, cond 2, cond 3,-----) X,Y)

12 Nesting IF function within other IF functions Two If syntax IF (Cond 1, IF(Cond 2, X2, Y2)Y1) Three If syntax IF(Cond1, IF(Cond2,IF(Cond3,X3,Y3),Y2),Y1) Four If syntax IF(Cond1, IF(Cond2, IF(Cond3, IF(Cond4,X4.Y4),Y3),Y2),Y1)

14 The SUMIF Function Using this function you can sum all the entries in one column or row that match the given criteria that depend on another column or row The syntax of the SUMIF function SUMIF (range, criteria, sum range)

15 Exercise 01 Category Food Sales Vegetables Tomatoes 2300 Vegetables Celery 5500 Fruits Oranges 800 Vegetables Carrots 4200 Fruits Apples 1200 Sum of the sales of all foods in the "Fruits" category. Sum of the sales of all foods in the "Vegetables" category.

16 COUNTIF COMMAND This command help you to counts the number of cells within a range that meet the given criteria Syntax COUNTIF (range, criteria)

18 AVERAGEIF COMMAND Returns the average (arithmetic mean) of all the cells in a range that meet a given criteria. Syntax AVERAGEIF (range,criteria,average_range)

20 SUMIFS COMMAND This function adds the cells in a range that meet multiple criteria. Syntax SUMIFS (sum_range,criteria_range1,criteria1, criteria_range,criteria )

23 AVERAGEIFS COMMAND This function returns the average (arithmetic mean) of all cells that meet multiple criteria. Syntax AVERAGEIFS (average -range, criteria_range1, criteria, criteria_range, criteria )
