3 Rectangular Prisms This solid is a rectangular prism. You can see three of its s. But there are three more s that you can t see. Every rectangular prism has six flat s. Ruben and his friends are learning about solid figures all around them. base base The s at the top and bottom of this prism are called bases. Both bases are the same size and shape. 4 edge An edge is where two s meet. A rectangular prism has twelve edges. How many can you see? Hardware Store vertex A vertex is where a base and two s meet. The word vertices is plural for vertex. A rectangular prism has eight vertices. How many can you see? Solids All Around Grade 2 5 Issac looks for rectangular prisms in the hardware store. All points on a sphere s curved sur are the same distance from the center. 11 How many cylinders and cones do you see? Square Pyramids This solid is a square pyramid. It has four s that are shaped like triangles. They are connected by four edges. It also has a that is shaped like a square. There is one vertex on top of a square pyramid. Solids All Around Grade

12 When a square pyramid is turned over, you can see four more vertices on the bottom. There are five vertices in all, including the one on top.
