3 1 ABOUT INFINITY V3.0.1 LEICA INFINITY Infinity v3.0.1 is a maintenance release The following issues have been addressed: CLM Services running during installation: an information message notifying when other applications are using the CLM services during installation has been added. The check will notify the user if other applications are using the FlexNet FNP Licensing Services. The user needs to close those applications for the installation to continue. It is always recommended to close all applications before installing a new or updating an existing software. Fixed that during installation if the default port is not available for the Autodesk BIM 360 Docs services the check will be ignored. This could have caused the installation to fail. Fixed a check to the operating system User folder that in some cases, depending on the Infinity language being installed, could cause the installation to fail. For customers in Japan: o Fixed ANTINFO import o Fixed ANTEX file export o Fixed that in some cases on Windows 10 the Ellipse Neo plugin would not run For Leica Pegasus users working with the Leica M3D software, fixed a check that when Leica M3D software calls for Infinity coordinate system components, it is not blocked by the Infinity application. 3/14

4 2 INSTALLATION DETAILS INSTALLATION INFORMATION Leica Infinity v3.0.1 Build Maintenance end date: 3069 June 15 th, 2018 With an active CCP the users will be able to download and install this new version. Check that the maintenance end data is on or after the date listed above. New users should download the latest version from the Leica myworld support website. CHECK FOR UPDATES From Help & About press Check for updates. When a new version is available you will be notified that the update can be downloaded from myworld 64BIT SUPPORT Infinity v3.0 is available only as a 64bit installation. 5 3 ABOUT INFINITY V3.0.0 LEICA INFINITY 3.0 The bridge between field and office. We are very pleased to announce Infinity v3.0! This is the most significant release to date with more than 100 new features and improvements throughout the application and modules. Please read the following chapters carefully to learn more about all what is new. Please note that this release is available only as a 64-bit installation. 6 4 NEW - POINT CLOUDS FROM IMAGES NEW IMAGING OPTION POINT CLOUDS FROM IMAGES Easily compliment your traditional survey data by integrating UAV/UAS imagery! A new optional article is available Point Clouds from Images that lets users derive point clouds, DSM and Orthophoto data deliverables. By integrating this new functionality, users can more readily take advantage of the added data that UAV/UAS can provide on various work projects, both to the data collection and overall awareness of the project area. Furthermore, users can take advantage of efficient data acquisition for jobs where precise measurements are not required. Infinity has strived to provide the user a simple workflow to produce data and one that can be described in three easy steps orientate images, generate dense point cloud, and compute a DSM with the orthophoto. Please refer to the Help for detailed information regarding this new functionality using images to arrive at point clouds. The Help includes recommended practices for data acquisition, details outlining the processing steps, and explanations for the technical considerations regarding the data outputs. IMPORT IMAGES Infinity works with JPG or PNG images that are taken to nadir direction and include geotags. Most devices today include autonomous GNSS positions and can be set to capture images perpendicular to the ground. When importing third party UAV/UAS data, it is suggested to choose Create Image Group to keep the images organized in the project. Also note that, in most cases, the user will not want to import a huge number of images rather it is suggested to only link to the images. If the user wishes to import images directly to a project, then select the Import Image Data. ORIENTATION Working from the Image Group and knowing the Image Processing settings have been considered, the user chooses to Orientate the image group. The steps to process the data inside Infinity are called Tasks and can be seen from the Imaging Inspector or Task Manager window. 6/14

7 The result of an orientation is the updated camera pose positions and a sparse point cloud (SPC). Once stored, the user can use the SPC to determine if any gross errors have occurred during the orientation process. To optimise the orientation, it is important to consider the use of Control Points and Check Points to arrive at the most confident results. The user can mark the control points before or after an orientation has been stored by choosing Add Control Points. DENSE POINT CLOUD Once the orientation of an Image Group is stored, it is possible to proceed to the next step, generating a Dense Point Cloud (DPC). Like the orientation step, after the DPC has finished, the user will store the results. The DPC has one important setting related to filtering of the output result. The user needs to be aware of the value used to filter the point cloud, by default this is 10 cm. This setting is highly dependent on if control points have been used! It is possible to change the filter value of the stored DPC, choosing from the context menu Filter Dense Point Cloud will allow the user to update the result as desired. If the point cloud has some level of noise, the number of matches per point can be increased, which will reduce the total number of points computed but with the effect of less noise. DSM & ORTHOPHOTO The last step includes two data outputs to generate the orthophoto, a DSM or surface mesh is required. There are two settings that affect this output the resolution of the desired orthophoto, but also the size of the triangles. For a higher resolution, the user enters a desired value. For better feature definition in the orthophoto, the user will decrease the size of triangles. DATA DELIVERABLES With the dense point cloud, users can take advantage of Infinity functionality to derive further data outputs. With the Features module, discrete Points, Lines & Areas with codes and thematic information can be generated With the Surfaces module, surfaces and contour lines can be generated to compute volumes or compare two surfaces and compute Cut Fill maps indicating over/under differences including lines marking the out-of-tolerance regions. EXPORT DATA An important aspect of the UAV/UAS workflow is generate data but also to export the data for use with other software or services. The DSM or orthophoto can be exported directly to Leica ConX from the External Services window The point cloud can be exported to various formats Publishing data direct to Leica Jetstream service is coming soon. 7/14

8 5 GNSS PROCESSING - AUTO PROCESSING MODE BASELINE STRATEGY Now you can view your GNSS raw observation data and the possible baseline combinations directly after import. From the Suggested Baseline Strategy settings, the user can define parameters to identify possible baselines. A new Survey Layer: GNSS Suggested Baselines is used for drawing the suggested baselines and available for export to DXF/DWG. SETTING AUTO MODE FOR INTERVALS Once the GNSS raw data has been imported, it is possible to select the intervals manually and choose Auto for setting the auto processing mode. With the new baseline strategy, a user can also choose that on import all GNSS intervals are also set to Auto Processing mode. In this configuration, the user can import and process in one go, no other clicks are needed. Once Intervals are set to Auto as well Ref/Rover mode a list of the baseline combinations that will be computed is available listed for review. GNSS GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS Several other improvements have been included to raise the user s awareness of GNSS data when working from the graphical view. Baselines and Points are now better differentiated by icons. The ability to set or disable baselines from graphical view is also now possible using the context menu. 9 7 TPS PROCESSING - TPS UPDATES UPDATE STATIONS Working with TPS data, it is often required to update many station setups after many data imports or reducing data such as after processing of a Traverse. The new feature Update Stations allows the user to quickly select the stations to update, review the data and then apply the updates. Comparing the point roles available and also considering points that are based from observations, the routine will determine the best point role for the update. In a couple steps, a user can open the wizard and update stations: To start the update, select the stations you want to update On the next page, you review the data and results Press Finish to complete the updates TRAVERSE LAYER A new survey layer is added to let the user better visualize and work with the traverse data, even if the station source data might be set to not visible. 9/14

10 The TPS stations that are part of a Traverse now have the visibility eye to allow turning off all the stations including their observations, with the traverse path still visible. 8 MAP SERVICES WFS DATA PROVIDERS It is common today that localities provide geospatial data via internet services. A user goes to a webpage, logs in with their credentials and then locates and downloads the data they require. Many of these data providers also allow connectivity via third party applications to access the same data contents. Infinity now allows users to define such services where they are available. From Backstage Services, it is possible to define the WFS services. ACCESSING WFS DATA Once defined, a WFS service is always accessible from the Home tab. This opens the WFS services window. - Select the service you wish to access. - Navigate the list of features that are available - Choose to download data of that feature layer 1. All features on that layer 2. Features that are found within the map display area - The data will download with a progress status Once the data is downloaded, you will find in the Navigator Source the Feature Layer listed, just as any imported data. The data will be accessible just as for any CAD or IFC data that was imported the features are on Reference layers and are available to Copy to Library if you wish to work more with the data. Be aware that the data downloaded could be 2D data. If no data is visible in the graphic view, set the view to 2D. 10/14

11 9 THEMATIC ATTRIBUTE TABLES EXTENDED ATTRIBUTE SUPPORT Many data objects have extensive thematic attribute information, which are used to describe all the related details of an object. It is now possible to view, import and build code tables from such attribute information. The example is from a WFS service where parcel boundaries were downloaded. The attribute information can also easily come from SHP files. VIEWING THE ATTRIBUTE TABLE From the Navigator Source, choose the imported source, and to view the thematic data available from that import, with the right click context menu choose Open Attribute Table. WORKING WITH ATTRIBUTES When a Feature layer is imported, the thematic information is imported and stored to the Feature Coding group just the same as importing a code from a field instrument that is not part of the Code Table assigned to the project. The user can now choose to copy this code with attribute list by either creating a new Code Table or copying to the existing code table assigned to the project. Remember to Copy to Global if you change any codes in a project. VIEWING ATTRIBUTE INFORMATION Viewing attribute information is also possible. Selecting the object, view the attribute info from the Code Properties. 11/14

12 10 AUTODESK BIM 360 DOCS CONNECTIVITY BIM 360 DOCS Extending the flexibility and accessibility of cloud services, Infinity integrates connectivity with BIM 360 Docs for easy direct collaboration with construction projects. A user requires an existing account and subscription in order to use this service. You will be guided through the steps to log in and authorise Infinity to connect to the BIM 360 service. IMPORT EXPORT Once successfully connected and authorised, you will find Autodesk BIM 360 enabled and active in the Import and Export windows. Selecting this will then start the connection to the project location and the user can navigate as required to the data to import or to the location to export reports and project data as needed. 11 ASCII TEMPLATES CREATE AND EDIT TEMPLATES The ASCII Import Export templates have been extended so a user can edit an existing template when needed. Easily make the change(s) and either store as the same template or save to a new template. SAVE OR LOAD TEMPLATES Save your ASCII export templates. This is practical after having defined CAD feature definitions within an ASCII template. 12/14

13 Once an Import or Export template has been saved, it is easy to share the template by saving it to a file. Likewise, with being able to export a template, users can also import templates to easily include templates that were defined by other users. 12 IMPORT DATA INFRAGML IFC ALIGNMENT GSI TRIMBLE XML E57 SHP Import road and infrastructure objects with the InfraGML format. Support includes stringlines, alignment and cross section objects with material layers, and surface models. It is possible that IFC or IFCzip include road alignment objects. These can be imported as infrastructure objects. Extended support of GSI import including: - TPS observation data with setup points, import as TPS Stations. - Sprinter or DNA level height observations are imported and if the height measurements are in the form a line BF or BFFB then a line will be automatically generated on import. Surface and stringline data exported by Trimble Business Center can be imported and will generate an Infrastructure object. Additionally, the point cloud format E57 can now be imported. SHP file import has been extended to support the Attribute tables as described above. It is also possible to import and match coordinate system information when found in the PRJ format. If it is not possible to match the coordinate system, then the data will be imported as WGS EXPORT DATA QUARRY.6 Export contours and point data for import to Quarry.6 used to compute bore holes for drilling. 14 GENERAL APPLICATION IMPROVEMENTS ADDITIONAL POINT REPORTS It is now possible to choose reports that output Point and Coding information, Point and Quality information or a summary Point History report showing every instance of a point. 13/14

14 COORDINATE SYSTEM MANAGER DXF DWG IMPORT SHIFTROTATESCALE Compute transformations between two global coordinate sets to compute a transformation between two reference frames On import, users can switch the East North axis direction to match the local coordinate system. Imported point clouds can be moved to existing project data by applying any of the Shift, Rotate or Scale options. POINT CLOUD DISPLAY From Point Cloud module, adjust the view size of the point clouds depending on the point density for better visualization. LEICA CONX IMPORTING MULTIPLE FILES It is now possible to import data from a ConX Project direct from the general Import dialog. For many users, this will be an easier way to download data compared to the ConX Project Window. From the Navigator, when importing two or more of the same files, these will be grouped by folder with the time and date they were imported. This will help organize data for the user such as when importing many GNSS RINEX files or images from UAS/UAV. 14/14
