3 Release highlights Version 2014Q3 of Cadmatic continues the new generation of software versions for 2014 and includes major enhancements for the 64b COS server, change management of electrical cables, performance enhancements for P&IDs and several other additions. 3

4 Improved scalability for large projects 64bit COS server The 2014Q3 release contains a 64bit COS server, which enables models with central memory consumption in excess of the 32bit theoretical maximum to be handled and opens new horizons for very large projects. During the installation on the COS host hardware, the application automatically recognizes which Windows platform is in use 64bit or 32bit and installs the corresponding COS. Alternatively, it is possible to install the 32bit COS to 64bit Windows, if this is required for any reason. Change management of electric cables During the design process, changes in the 3D model are often made that affect the status of routed cables and can change their status in Cable Router. Some of these changes affect the geometries of cable trays and the change lengths of the complete cable routes. However, most of the changes only make minor adjustments to the cables. A new and easy-to-use tool has been created for examining changes in cable routes. Users can now visualize and compare changes, i.e. see old and newly computed routes. Changes can be quickly accepted if there are not major changes. The user can also browse other cable ways in the 3D space to get information about alternative cable routes. Minor geometric modifications (e.g. relocation of a few millimeters) will not cause a change in the cable status from Route accepted to Route changed. 5 Piping Isometrics improved tools to manage breaking geometry into isometrics Automatic and manual breaking can now be done for pipeline and containment-related isometric drawings. If, for example, the isometric drawing of a pipeline inside a single area would be too dense, it will automatically break into smaller isometric drawings. A new intuitive tool Adjust breaks has been created for users to manually adjust and add break points. This tool presents breaking points with clear symbols and provides users with a tool to add, modify or remove the break. An important feature of the new breaking is that the system tries to keep all old break point locations between revisions of isometric drawings. ÎÎ Breaking geometry into isometrics Diagram application The 2014Q3 release contains several mandatory maintenance and service updates and enhancements such as the highlighting of connected objects in diagrams. 6 eshare Information Management new search functionality and integration with document management The plant information model now contains groups such as units, pipelines, blocks etc. The introduction of groups eases navigation as you can now access the groups directly from their members. Groups can also be integrated with external data. This can reduce the amount of information that is shown for individual items. A piping part, for example, can have links to the associated pipeline, system and room groups with relevant data instead of showing all the inherited information for the member item. eshare can be integrated with document management systems or document archives. Based on the document metadata, associations between plant model items and pdf documents are created, and users can view documents associated with the items. Document attributes can also be viewed in eshare. A general adapter is available to support the document archive, which consists of a document database and files. Integrations with document management systems can be created either by using the built-in adapter and an intermediate document archive or with a custom adapter. A new easy-to-use search function allows model items and documents to be found based on their ids or attributes. Items that are not found in the CAD model, but are known via integrated data sources, can also be found. To allow integrations when external data sources require ids that are not found directly in the CAD model attributes, attribute values can be split and combined in different ways during model import. This can, for example, be used to produce an area code when it is originally not available as a separate attribute but is present as a part of other identifiers. 6

Over the years we have developed interfaces with other CAD software, CAE calculations, CAM manufacturing modules and many others. 7

8 We continuously develop new interfaces or provide conversion services together with our partners. Cadmatic exchangers have for some time been at the forefront of Cadmatic s philosophy of openness. The continued development has now resulted in a family of exchanger tools for different formats and needs. One of the most popular is AutoCad exchanger, which allows the user to convert models to and from Auto- CAD formats, while ensuring the correct handling of 3D geometries as well as attributes. exchanger for AutoCAD converts models of equipment and modules between Cadmatic and AutoCad 2014 versions and lower. The 3D exhanger for AutoCAD converts AutoCAD solid models from and into Cadmatic reference models. This allows AutoCAD users to use their 3D models in Cadmatic plant design projects. There are a large number of file transfer plugins to AutoCAD, which enables compatibility with different formats and the transfer of 3D models from and to other applications. 9 exchanger for PolyTrans increases compatibility with mechanical CAD software. Cadmatic has introduced a new exchanger for PolyTrans to meet the increasing demand for compatibility with mechanical CAD software and the need to utilize mechanical CAD models of equipment and modules. The PolyTrans interface effectively reduces the size of the imported model by generating a simplified polygon mesh, which does not unnecessarily compromise the visualization of the model exterior. The releases of Cadmatic exchanger for PolyTrans will also allow the import and export of whole models (not only components) and include attributes. exchanger for PDS and exchanger for PDMS converts models from PDMS and PDS formats into the ebrowser and Cadmatic 3D model formats. The converted models are significally lighter and contain all the attributes and structures of PDMS or PDS files. The tool allows users to easily convert PDMS, PDS and DGN format models into ebrowser or Cadmatic 3D models for further use. The tool is extremely user-friendly and simple to use when converting the user simply chooses the attributes to import and customizes the colours in the Cadmatic environment. 10 exchanger for Smart3D converts models from Smart3D formats into ebrowser and Cadmatic 3D model formats. The converted models are significally lighter and contain all the attributes and structures of Smart3D files. It is a unique solution that allows users to reutilize Smart3D models in other formats. The technology behind the conversion makes it possible to convert not only geometries, but also attributes and other intelligent information, such as systems and line ids, colors and others from Smart3D review models. Converted models lighter and easier to use The converted models are drastically lighter and can therefore be shared via the Internet with ease and used for design, revamp, construction follow up and review purposes on any workstation or laptop. If converted to ebrowser models, they can be used for project management purposes, to navigate through the model and to access any information required. The converted models can also be interfaced with documentation or other software and databases if desired.
