4 Introduction Thank you for instaing Spin 3D. Spin 3D fie conversion software is a 3d mode format converter for Windows. It can convert 3d mode fies between a variety of mode formats. Before converting your fie, Spin 3D aows you to preview the mode within the appication. With Spin 3D you can quicky and easiy convert your 3d mode fies into the formats you need for other software appications. Features Loads a variety of different 3d mode fie formats. 5 How to use Spin 3D This is an overview of how to use Spin 3D to convert your fies from one format to another. Keep in mind that Spin 3D is designed to earn from you as you go. It wi remember your settings from each time you convert so that repeated tasks are faster for you. Adding and Removing Fies To convert your 3d mode fies into the desired format, begin by adding fies into the fie ist window. Either cick the Add Fie(s) button, or seect Fie -> Add Fie(s) from the menu. You may aso cick the Add Foder button to add a 3d mode fies contained in the specified foder. Once your fies have been added, if you wish to remove any of them, seect the fies and either cick the Remove button, or seect Fie -> Remove Seected Fie(s) from the menu. To seect mutipe fies at once, press the Ctr key and eft-cick on the fies you want to seect. To highight a the fies, either seect Fie -> Seect A from the menu, or press Ctr + A. Seecting an Output Foder Near the bottom of the main window, there is a fied abeed Output foder, where you can specify the fie directory where converted fies wi be stored. You can either type in the desired foder, or you can cick the Browse button beow the fied. Doing so wi bring up a window where you can browse for the destination directory on your hard drive. The ast severa directories you have chosen in the past are stored in a drop-down ist, and can be accessed by cicking the arrow on the right edge of the text fied. Seecting an Output Format The fied abeed Output Format is where you can seect the desired output fie format for your fies. The foowing 3d mode formats are avaiabe for conversion: 3DP 3DS 3MF OBJ PLY 3

6 STL Converting Fies Once you have set the output foder and format, you can then seect the fies from the ist you want to convert, and either cick the Convert button, or seect Fie -> Convert from the menu. If you cick the Convert button without any fies seected, a fies in the ist wi be converted by defaut. Faied Conversions The conversion status coumn in the 3d mode fie ist wi report success, faiure or which 3d modes are queued for the current conversion. If 3d modes fai with a "Save faied" message, then you might need to specify an aternative output foder. "Load faied" messages wi occur if Spin 3D determines that the 3d mode is either corrupt or is actuay a different fie format disguised as an 3d mode. 4

7 What Formats Does Spin 3D Support? Mode Fie Conversion There are a number of fie formats that are supported in Spin 3D. These formats are as foows: Format Extensions Windows Notes NCH Software mode format *.3dp Read & Write - Autodesk 3D Studio format 3D Manufacturing Format *.3ds Read & Write Format does not contain Normas. *.3mf Read & Write Format does not contain Normas. Aias Wavefront OBJ *.obj Read & Write Materia fies not yet supported. Supports reading undocumented vertex coors. Stanford PLY *.py Read & Write Format does not contain 3D Systems STL *.st Read & Write Normas. Format Normas often invaid or missing. 10 Effects Diaog Recacuate Normas during conversion. Spin 3D wi attempt to recacuate the Normas of your mode when converting to formats that incude them. Remove dupicate Trianges and Vertices Spin 3D wi attempt to re-index and remove dupicated vertices and trianges within modes as they are processed. It is important to note that this process can take a very ong time to compete. Appy Offset to Objects During conversion Spin 3D wi appy the specified offset to Objects within the Mode. Most fies wi contain ony 1 Object, if a fie contains more than 1 Object the same offset wi be appied to each. Transation - An offset for the position of the mode. Rotation - The units for rotation are in Degrees. e.g Specifying or a mutipe thereof wi resut in a fu revoution of a given axis. Scae - Specifying vaues of Zero in a given axis are not recommended. To achieve a resut in the output mode being more or ess fat in the specified axis, it is suggested you use a very sma positive vaue instead e.g Aso note that depending on the mode and how you intend to use it, this wi ikey resut in a great dea of Z-Fighting as trianges wi be very cose to each other in the fattened axis. Note: The coumns are organized such that Left, Midde, and Right are the X, Y, and Z vaues for each property. 8
