4. Optiview Software Windows Desktop Once DVR installation is complete, the following icons will be placed on your desktop: DVR Main: The main DVR program icon. DVR Search: Data search program. DVR Setting: DVR setting program. 9

4-1. DVR Setup Prior to using the DVR for the first time, it is necessary to run the DVR Setting program. Click on the DVR Setting icon to open the DVR Setup screen. Disk Tool: Creates the DVR file system. The DVR program needs to create its own file system to handle large quantities of data safely. System: Settings for options including initial screen settings, sounds, automatic restoration (Watchdog), keyboard, lockout, and more. Camera: Various settings for up to 32 cameras and the digital relay outputs including, scheduling, motion detection, covert operation and remote notification. Sensor: Settings for up to 16 sensors (NO/NC) and assignment of Digital I/O. Backup: Settings for the automatic backup schedule. 10

User admin: Multi level password protection for different users and separate tasks Notification Options There are several places in the software where you will be asked to choose notification options. Some of these options will be unavailable for certain events. The following describes all options. General: Beep: Makes an audible sound. If Use PC Speaker is chosen, then the PC s speaker will be used instead of the sound card. This is useful if you don t want to install speakers. Mark: Marks with a red, filled-in circle the window corresponding to the camera involved in the event. Click the camera window to make the circle go away. Popup: Makes the window for the associated camera go to the 1-camera view. Tvout: Makes the window for the associated camera display on an external television when an event occurs. Choose the number of seconds that the camera will display on the TV before the TV starts showing other cameras again. Note that if you only have one camera enabled and a TV is hooked up, then that camera will display on the TV anyway, so this option will not make sense in that case. Second Screen: Makes the window for the associated camera appear at the coordinates given. This is useful to make it appear on a second monitor. For example, if you have two monitors that are both set to 1024x768, then setting this option with X=1025 and Y=769 would pop up a window on the second monitor in the upper left corner. Right-click the second screen window to make it go away. Remote Notify: Sends the Remote Multiclient software a notification. Use Notify Schedule: If this is not checked, the Notify Schedule in the setup for the associated camera will be ignored. If it is checked, then the notification will only occur according to the schedule. 11

Relay: Opens the relay or relays selected when the event occurs. Latch: The time (up to 10 seconds) for the relay or relays to stay open. s the recipient setup in the System options page with the information supplied. 12

Subject: The subject of the message. It can include placeholders, described below. Character $$0 $$1 $$2 $$3 Meaning Camera Number Event Time IP address Content: The body of the message. This, too, can include placeholders. Attach Image: Attaches to the the image that was on the screen for the associated camera when the event occurred. Interval: How often an will be sent, as long as the event is still occurring. Preset: This will make a given PTZ camera go to the preset selected. In the first box, choose the camera. In the second box, choose the preset number. You will not be able to select a preset if the camera has no presets set yet. It makes no sense to select the same camera on more than one line. 13

Phone: Calls a phone number or a list of phone numbers and plays the selected WAV file when an event occurs. 14

Number 1, Number 2, Number 3: The number or numbers to call. You must use the same number setup as you would if you were dialling out from the same line with a telephone. That is, if you would normally dial a 1 for long distance or *70 to disable call waiting, then those options should be placed here too. You must have a modem installed for this option to work. Wave File: The file, in WAV format, to play when the phone is answered. Browse: Allows you to browse for the WAV file instead of typing it in. Play: Allows you to hear what the WAV file sounds like. You must have a functioning sound card and speakers to do so. Play Time: How long the WAV file will loop before it stops playing. Interval. The time before the next number is called Disk Tool Disk Tool: Creates a DVR file system (the DVR program creates its own file system, so that large quantities of data will be handled safely). What is a Volume? A volume is a unit used in the DVR file system. One volume spans one hard drive partition. Digital Video Data is recorded in these volumes as if they were one hard drive and when the last volume is full the program will record over the previously recorded data on a first-in first-out basis. (Data will be lost if not backed up before over writing). Important! It is recommended to divide the first hard disk into two partitions and use the second 15

partition for recording and storing data and the first one for Windows. At least 100 megabytes of space must be left unused so that Windows will not show a Disk Full error message. For example: For a 120 gigabyte (GB) hard drive, Drive C: is allocated 8GB and Drive D: receives 112 GB. Total - The total capacity of hard disk space. Used Disk - The capacity of hard disk space currently being used. Usable Disk - The capacity of hard disk space available for usage. Max Volume The total number of space available for usage. Used Volume The number of space being used. Volume Size The number of space required of this partition. Delete Volume Completely deletes data structure (folder and volumes) from all hard drives. Clear Volume Clears all previously recorded data from all hard drives. Create Volume Creates a Volume using the number defined in Volume Size. \ 16

How to create a volume for recording video DO NOT Create Volumes on Drive C:. This drive is allocated for the Windows operating system. Click on the partition on which to create a volume. Subtract 2 from the Max Volume for that drive and put the result in the space to the left of Add Volume and click Add. For multiple drives and partitions repeat the above steps. Check that the correct number appears on the space entitled Volume Size and click "Create Volume" button. Note: Always use 2 numbers less than the maximum allowed to avoid Disk Full error messages created by Windows System Setup Site Information Site Name: Enter a name for the system 17

Site Location: Enter the description of the system Screen Initial Screen: Use the pull-down box to select the number of cameras to be displayed on the screen when starting the program. To have sixteen cameras display on the initial screen, for example, select 16 View. The second pull- down menu will enable the user to start the DVR in Normal, Large, or Full-Screen Mode. In Large Mode, only a partial toolbar is displayed. The toolbar status indicators are hidden in Full-Screen Mode. Only the camera images are displayed. TV-Out Auto Switching Interval: An external CCTV monitor (or television) attached to the DVR displays the view from only one camera at a time. Use the pull-down box to select the switching time the amount of time in seconds the view from one camera is shown before switching to the next. Note: For simultaneous display of 16 channels a live card must be used. PC Screen Auto Switching Interval: The PC monitor attached to the DVR has several viewing options in addition to the Initial Screen option above. Like the external monitor, camera output can be viewed one at a time. Four at a time is another popular choice. In this example, clicking the Auto Change button on the DVR Main screen will cause the program to switch from four cameras to the next four cameras and so forth, based on the switching time selected here. Auxiliary Functions K e y b o a r d L o c k : Check this box to prevent unauthorized access to the Windows operating system. When checked, the system will ignore all of the Windows shortcut keys, including the Windows key. Note: This does not prevent a user from pressing the <Ctrl><Alt><Del> key combination to bring up the Task Manager or Close Program dialog. However, closing the DVR program this way will set off the warning buzzer when the hardware watchdog is enabled (see below). E n a b l e H a r d w a r e W a t c h d o g : Check this box to have the hardware watchdog automatically reboot the DVR anytime a system problem occurs. When there is no video sign a l o r t h e s y s t e m l o c k s u p, f o r example, the watchdog waits for the time set in the advanced section of the Start.exe program and the DVR will restart. The warning buzzer also can be disabled in setup. (For details, look in the DVR Management section of the manual). Schedule Auto Reboot of DVR: The DVR can be set to automatically reboot and restart the system on a specified schedule. Click Properties a n d s e l e c t t h e d a y, h o u r, a n d minute desired. For details, see the picture. 18

Note: For the DVR software to automatically restart after rebooting the system, a shortcut to dvrmain.exe must be added to the Startup section of the programs menu. Sound Recording: The DVR software provides several different options for sound recording with up to sixteen channels available depending on the DVR card used. A mic can be plugged directly into the mic jack of the onboard sound card for up to two channels of sound (with splitter), or, on DVR s with sound build in, an amplified mic can be plugged into one of the sound jacks on the sound dongle. Each jack on the sound dongle can have a mic plugged into it. o Installed Audio Devices: This will show all installed audio devices on the system. o Volume: This will let you select the sensitivity of the mic. Note: The volume should be less than the 255 default value, or you will just get a lot of hiss. o Select Channel: Pick the number of mics attached. Remember that 1 or 2 channel sound can be either the built-in sound card, or a sound jack provided on DVR s with sound. o Select Camera: For each mic, pick a camera with which to associate it for reasons of events, playing during searching, etc. Use The DVR software can be configured to send notification of events. This is dependent upon the settings for the event itself, such as video loss or sensor trigger (explained later). 19

o Method: In order or appearance in the list, set this either not to use a mail server, o o o o use a mail server that does not require login, login with no password authentication, l o g i n w i t h password authentication, or login with password authentication AND encryption. This depends on your mail server. If not sure, ask your provider. SMTP Server: A valid SMTP (outgoing ) server. Again, you would get this from your provider. Username and Password: Enter these if required. From Address: The address that you want the DVR to say the message is from. To Address: A valid address to which to send the message. 20

Warning on Disk Full: This feature enables the user to receive a warning message when the recording space is almost full. The Filled Disk Notification option lets the DVR know just how you want to be warned. o Warning at Value: This warns you when the last amount of space is about to be used. You can ch o o s e y o u r o w n definition of last amount of space by choosing Specify the Used Percent then putting in a percentage value. o Warning at Disk: Choose Total Disk to warn when the last amount of space is about to be used on the whole DVR volume, or Curre n t D i s k t o b e warned each time the last amount of space on a hard drive partition is about to be used. o Warning at a Term: This warns you when a specific day rolls around. Choose the date and time. Also, you can choose to be warned when the DVR has recorded a certain number of days worth of data by putting a value in the Saving Duration box. o Saving Options on Warning: Choose Save on warning to have the DVR continue to record when you are warned about the volume being almost full, or No Save on Warning to have the DVR stop recording when you are warned. o Filled Disk Notification: This is how you are warned. See the section on notification options. Setting Log Off Timeout: On the DVR Main screen, a login name and password are used to allow or deny privileges to certain users (like searching, running setup, and exiting). By selecting a timeout value in seconds, all users will be automatically logged out thus preventing unauthorized access to the DVR features. 21

Burn CD: This feature is currently unavailable due to the delay the DVR software gives the CD burning software as a natural by-product of recording video in the background. Please use the AVI Save function or the Backup function then exit the DVR software completely and use the CD burning software provided. Network Installing the DVR Multi Client software on remote computers expands the features of the DVR to other computers and/or users. Allow remote connections: Check this box to give remote access to the DVR. Remote notification of events: Check this box to send notification to a remote computer of an event (motion, alarm/sensor detection, etc.) that has been detected on the DVR. Set the method of notification to TCP/IP and enter the IP address of the remote computer. The remote computer must be running the Multi-Client Software. The Modem Method is an advanced feature that will not be discussed here due to the fact that we are no longer supporting analog modems for remote viewing because they are just too slow. The Server Method is discussed below. Use IP Server: Check this box to use the IP Server if you have a dynamic IP Address. Click on the Properties button and the following window will appear: o Code: Your unique identification, which must be registered on o IP Server: The IP address of the server given on o Notify Interval: The frequency at which the DVR notifies the IP server of its current IP address. Log Contents Checking the appropriate boxes will cause the DVR software to keep track of the specific details of: System: When the DVR and DVR software are started as well as when the system is accessed remotely. Sensor: When a sensor is activated Motion: When motion is detected User: When a user logs in or out The details (date & time, user name, IP address, camera number, etc.) are stored in a log file on the hard drive (C:\ B612dvr) and can easily be read with Windows NotePad or WordPad. 22

Camera Setup General Click the camera buttons on the left to setup each camera, or Setup one camera then use the Select All button at the top of the camera buttons to copy the settings for the initial camera to all other cameras. Note: Please be aware that some camera settings will not stick if the setup program is called from the DVR Main page. This is by design. It is recommended that you go back to the Windows desktop and run DVR Setup for camera settings. Less is More? There are several options on the Camera Setup - General tab, such as, resolution, frame rate, 23

compression and picture quality that will ultimately enhance the picture quality. However, selecting the highest quality on each camera will reduce the number of days available for playback on the DVR. Images with high resolution (uncompressed images), recorded at a fast frame rate take up more storage space on the DVR and, ultimately fewer days will be recorded. Images with lower resolution (heavily compressed), recorded at a slower frame rate take up less storage space on the DVR and more days can be recorded. The default settings on this screen represent a safe middle ground to give better quality images for playback over a reasonable number of days. Enable Camera: Check the box to enable or disable camera from viewing and recording. Note: Be sure to disable any cameras you are not using. This will improve system performance & prevent video loss alarms. Camera 1 is on always by default. Basic Settings: Camera Name: Enter a name that best describes the camera location. Resolution: Use the pull-down box to select either low or high resolution. Please refer to the Less is More? section (above) for details on how this can affect recording time. Adjust Camera Frame Rate: This section is used to set the frame rate which refers to the number of video images/frames recorded every second per camera. This should not be confused with the frame rate for the entire DVR. For example, if the DVR s frame rate is 60 frames per second (fps), and there are 8 cameras attached, then the average frame rate would be 60 divided by 8 or about 7.5 fps. Maximum averaged frame rate: Click this to have the DVR software automatically divide the frame rate evenly among active cameras. Note: Set to maximum averaged, and the frame rate can vary as cameras detect motion. This means that playback may appear to speed up and slow down. Select frame per camera: 1 frame/1 sec is the default for these two fields. 4 frames/1 second should be more than adequate for day-to-day recording. Broadcast television records at 30 fps. Security: Enabled cameras will be recorded on the DVR according to the settings on the other tabs (Schedule, Color & Motion). It may be unnecessary or undesirable (i.e. a covert camera) to 24

display certain camera views on the DVR, through the External Monitor, or when viewing remotely over the network. Hide Camera (Display): Click here and this camera will not show on the Main DVR Remove from CCTV Display: Click here and this camera will not show on a TV. Remove from Network Display: Click here and this camera will not transmit over the network or the Internet. Compression Format & Picture Quality: The DVR program can record captured video in either MJPEG, JPEG, or.264 format, depending on the DVR hardware purchased. Please be aware, however, that the DAT files that store the DVR data are encoded in a proprietary way, even though it boils down to one of the formats above. Video images are compressed to take up less space. The slider control adjusts the picture quality. (Read the Less is More? section (above) for details on how this can affect recording time). Compression Format and Rate: o Move the slider control to the right (number gets larger) to increase picture quality and decrease compression o Move the slider control to the left (number gets smaller) to decrease picture quality and increase compression Transmission Format & Picture Quality: Transmission format relates to the quality of images transmitted over thenetwork. The explanation of this heading is virtually the same as Compression Format & Picture Quality (mentioned above). Pre & Post Alarm Recording: Pre Alarm: Select the number of frames to record prior to Motion or Sensor detection Post Alarm: Select the number of frames to record after Motion or Sensor detection Note: These settings will have no effect unless Sensor, Motion and/or Sensor & Motion times are highlighted on the Camera Setup Schedule tab (see below). Event Notification Video Loss Notification: This gives notification of when the DVR detects that one or more cameras has lost video. Please see Notification Options above. 25

Schedule Shorter is Better? Like the Less is More? section above, the Recording Schedule optio ns also determine how many days are recorded and available for playback on the DVR. Normal mode means 24 hours a day recording 7 days a week regardless of whether there is activity to record. Specific applications of a business may require this type of recording. Motion mode, however, will only record when there is activity within the camera view. For example, a camera that points at the shipping area overhead door might detect activity only during morning delivery and afternoon pickup for a total of 30 minutes a day. Setting that camera to motion would free up 23½ hours of recording time on the DVR! More hard drive space is used up to record 24 hours of activity versus 30 minutes. So the question to ask for each camera is: If the camera is detecting and recording all motion, how much recording is necessary? Note: It is important not to confuse Recording Schedule with the cameras themselves. The cameras are on all the time (24/7) and can be viewed on the main DVR display, the external 26

monitor and by remote connection. Recording Schedule determines only what will be recorded for later viewing (playback) in Search mode. Recording Schedule: Click the desired button Normal, Sensor, Motion, Display, Sensor & Motion or Normal & Event. Then hold down the left mouse button to shade one or more time blocks left to right on the 24 hour, Sun-Sat matrix. The color blocks in the matrix will match the color block for each button: Note: After pressing the desired button, there is a shortcut to pick all days and all times. Press the grey button between Sun and 0 to choose all blocks. Normal (bright green): The DVR records all images captured by the camera. (Default) Sensor (yellow): Images begin recording when a sensor associated with this camera detects activity. Motion (teal): Images begin recording when this camera detects motion. Display (white): No images are recorded for this camera. However, they can be viewed on the Main DVR screen, a video monitor and/or over the network. (See also the Display Options settings on the Camera Setup General tab). Sensor & Motion (pink): Images begin recording when a sensor associated with this camera detects activity or when the camera detects motion. Note: The total amount recorded will depend on the Pre & Post Alarm Recording settings, found in the Camera Setup General tab (see above). Normal & Event (rose): The DVR records all images captured by the camera at the frame rate specified on the Camera Setup General tab. When an event (sensor or motion) occurs, the camera will begin recording at the maximum available frame rate. Remote Notify Schedule: Click the desired button - Notify or Clear - then hold down the left mouse button to shade one or more time blocks on the 24 hour, Sun-Sat matrix. The color blocks in the matrix will match the color block for each button: Notify (bright green): When Remote Notification of Events is checked (see Network section of the System Setup screen) and an event occurs, 3 things will happen on the Remote Client software. 1. The client software goes from minimized to full-screen mode. 2. An audible alarm will sound: 3. Information about the camera date and time of the event are displayed. Clear (white): no remote notification will occur. 27

Color & Motion RRM - What s this? When the Recording Schedule is set for Motion or Sensor & Motion, objects with Regular, Random Motion (RRM) will cause the DVR to record all the time. Examples of RRM objects are those affected by wind movement such as: Trees and shrubs, flags, banners, balloons, etc. Other RRM objects could be: A flickering computer monitor. Street traffic on the edge of the viewing area. A store display that rotates or moves. Almost all of these RRM objects are acceptable and would be ignored by human security personnel. It is possible to teach the DVR to ignore them by setting up detection areas around these objects. 28

Detection Area Setting: Whole area: Click to select the entire camera view for detection of motion. This is the default and should be used for all cameras that do not have RRM objects (see paragraph above). Partial area: Click to create detection areas around RRM objects. The words on the four button bars change from grey (inactive) to black (active): o Press the "Add" button bar to add a detection area. o Move the mouse pointer up to the camera view window, o Hold down the left mouse button, and drag the mouse down to the right to create a rectangular detection area. o Release the left mouse button. o Click Add again to get out of the add mode. The rectangular detection area is now highlighted in red. Create up to 10 detection areas as needed to completely cover the screen, leaving the RRM objects outside of the rectangles. Note: Only movement inside the rectangles will trigger recording o Select All: Selects the whole screen as a detection area. o Delete All: Deletes all detection areas. Detection Test: Toggle this button to show in the setting screen when motion is detected by displaying the word Detected. Display Detected Area: When this is checked and Detection Test is toggled, then, when motion is detected, the object causing the motion will be highlighted in green. Color Control: Sets the Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Hue of the camera image. Press the "Default Value button to return all settings to the original values. Note: Black & White cameras must be set at 0 value for Hue and Saturation. Motion Setting: Sensitivity Adjustment: Set the color sensitivity of a moving object. Higher % = more sensitive color shifts between the object and the background. Rate of Motion: Change the % of motion sensitivity to detect changes. Higher % = greater sensitivity of motion detection. Pan/Tilt Camera Method: Use this option to control PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) Cameras. Select this option for the PTZ cameras and then click on Properties. The following screen will appear. 29

Pan/Tilt Option: PTZ Camera: Choose the type of protocol of the camera receiver. To enable the autopan feature, choose OptiPan. To enable autotracking for the Optiview camera that supports it, choose OptiTrack. Both of these settings are based upon Pelco D, so the camera should be set for Pelco D, 4800 bps. Autopan and autotracking cannot be enabled at the same time. Note: In some cases, the OptiPan and OptiTrack options will not be available. Please contact Optiview Tech Support for a patch. PTZ ID: Choose the channel ID of the camera. Com Port: Choose the serial port on the DVR that will connect to the camera. Parity, Data bit, and Stop bit: Set values according to the Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera equipment manual. This is usually 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity. Speed: Sets the P/T (Pan/Tilt), F/Z (Focus/Zoom), and A/P (Autopan) speed. The autopan speed is only used with certain cameras and requires Optiview to set it up in a file for that particular camera. Only Optiview cameras are supported for these features. At the time of this writing, we have developed a Super AutoPan (OptiPan) setting that uses Pelco D and has more functionality than the traditional autopan. Because it allows you to set the timing in real-time, the autopan speed setting is not used. Put in the settings for PTZ camera. You can click on the test button to check if the PTZ settings are working. After clicking on the Test button the following window will appear. You can select settings for the PTZ camera and click on the Open button to get the screen on the right. You can move the camera and test it. 30

To Set Presets: (Use the Test Screen Shown Above) Select the installed Pan tilt camera from the drop down list Set the parity and baud rate and click OPEN Move the camera with left or right arrows to ensure operation Click on Preset button. Click on the number button to select the preset number. Move camera to desired position. Click on the number button again to de-select it Now the preset is set. Repeat steps 5-7 to setup presets 2 through 20. Note : The PTZ camera must support Presets in order for this function to work as the data is stored in the camera not in the DVR. To set Autopan (using the OptiPan setting): Set the camera to the start position, including zooming. Press Start. Move the camera anywhere you want while zooming how you want. You can move to multiple positions. The camera will watch your movements, including the time spent to make each movement. If you wait 3 seconds to make the next move, the camera records that time. Then press Stop to stop recording movements. Remember each camera has its own settings so press the "Apply" button to set each camera. Note: An RS232 to RS485 converter must be used for PTZ control. If you have an RS422 camera (such as a Pelco Spectra II), then contact Optiview tech support as this requires additional hardware from Optiview. 31

Sensor (Digital I/O) Up to16 sensors can be connected. Sensor activation can be linked to Digital Outputs and cameras. Select Sensor To Use: Check the box to use the selected sensor. Sensor Location: Put in a descriptive word or phrase. Sensor Type: Choose the sensor type being used (0=Normally open and 1=Normally closed). Connected Camera: Choose the camera to enable recording when the sensor is activated. Check Time: Check for sensor movement every assigned interval. Emergency Notify: This option is currently not in use as it is a test for the future. Sensor Trigger Notification: See Notification Options above. Note: 1 sensor can trigger multiple outputs. 32

Backup Setup Note: Recorded images can be backed up automatically to a remotely connected drive when the Backup Schedule is activated. Backup cannot write directly to a CDRW or DVD. Hour, Minute: Choose a time for Backup to begin. Connected Camera: Select the cameras to backup. Backup Device: Choose the hard drive/remote shared drive where backed up data will be saved. Select Week: Pick the days for the backup to occur. Start Backup Timer: Check the box to begin. Overwrite When the Disk is Full: Check the box to start overwriting when the selected disk is full. 41 Smart Search is explained below. You can Bookmark sections of the video while searching by clicking on this button. Opens a list of all the bookmarked sections. Goes to a chosen Date, Time, and Camera. Allows selection of different searching methods. The methods are: Common Search: This is regular search Panorama Search: This is a frame-by-frame search. Icon Search: This shows all 24 hours on the screen. Double click on the hours to get 10 minutes screen, double click again to get 1-minute screens. Multi Camera Search. Choose the search pattern by selecting a single or multiple images from X1 to X16. On a single search it is possible to enlarge and shrink the images and it is faster than multiple searches. For multi camera search choose X4 to X16 the search will be slower because the DVR has to search through every frame AVI Saving Click on the AVI Saving button and the following screen will appear: 40

AVI is a universal format of video playback that can be viewed on any computer using standard Media Players. Enable view with captions option on the Media Player to view the date, time and camera number during playback. Sound also can be played back at the same time. To save recorded video for view on any computer, go to the beginning of the time right before the event took place. Click on AVI Saving button from the search screen By default the AVI file is saved on the root of the C: drive with Intel Indeo compression. Choose the start date, start time, end date, end time, camera, save directory (folder), and format, then press Start to save the recording. The Message box will show the status. Be sure to play the file on the DVR itself before trusting it, so that you will not waste a CD if you plan to burn it to CD. If you do plan to burn to CD, please use the CD software provided on the DVR. Also, don t forget to delete the file after you get a successful burn and it is tested on another machine. Deleting accumulated files will ensure that Windows has enough space to work. It is recommended only to choose one camera at a time when saving, and to be totally out of the 41

DVR software when burning to a CD. MP4 format is available, but requires an MP4 codec to be installed on the playback machine, which is not supported. However, MP4+EXE is a good choice, because it puts out an executable file that has the video and all required codec s in one file Smart Search Click on the Smart Search button and the following screen will appear. This function allows you to search for a specific area by pixel movement (up to100 hot spots ). Follow these easy steps to do a Smart Search : 1. Left click the mouse button and drag on the picture to create one or more hot spots to be searched. 2. Select the time From and To for the search. 42

3. Select the camera number to search. 4. Set the rate of motion to the desired level of movement recorded on the picture to be searched. Click the search button to begin searching. 5. Search Complete message will appear on screen when the smart search function is completed. Results will appear in the list. Playback: Click the forward and reverse play button to view the images. Use the skip frame function for fast-forward and reverse playback. Drag the position marker forward and backward for frame-by-frame viewing. Save image or print as required. Note: If the images are recorded at a higher frame rate the search will take longer as the DVR must search through each and every frame for pixel changes Manual Backup This feature allows users to selectively backup footage (video) to prevent it from being over-written. 43

Backup Process: On the top-left side of the window, click + on the date/s you wish to backup. Then select the hour/s and minutes (place a red check in the box) to be backed up. Then click on the Play button (right arrow). The progress will be shown in the backup status window. Backup Directory: This is the target location where the backup files will be stored. By default the data is backed up in a folder on the root of the C: drive.a folder starting with M will be created here for the backup. Press the Browse button to choose another folder, or type in the box Auto Startup Enable: If the box is checked, automatic backup will be carried out in accordance with the settings in DVR Setting. A reboot is required to make this happen. Clear: Clear all selections. Select: Allows you to choose a date, time, and camera to backup. Brings up the Backup Viewer. Brings up the Backup Log Viewer. Minimizes the Backup program. Exits the Backup program Backup Viewer The backup viewer works just like search, but with one exception. Press the folder choose your backup folder. Then use it just like search. icon and 44

Image Authentications This program can be used to check encoded information of a particular image saved by the Search mode. If the image has been tampered with the encoded information will not show up in the viewer. Open: Click to open the image for verification. If the image has been tampered with no information will appear. Other wise if it is still in its original form encoded information will appear. Print: Click to print the image with the authentication information. 45

Exit: Click to close authentication program AVI Viewer Click on the AVI Viewer button and the following screen will appear.
