3 DMM R2 Local / PMD R2 - Manual - Status: 05/15/ System requirements, operation and licensing 1.1 General The DMM R2 Local / PMD R2 application is intended for multiple operational scenarios and stages of development of the data providers. The various scenarios are described below with an appropriate system dimensioning proposal. Please note that dimensioning must always be coordinated in consultation with the infrastructure experts of the respective target customers. 1.2 Performance If the database and applications are on different servers, it is important to have high-performance network connectivity, in other words, low latency and high bandwidth (e.g. Gigabyte Ethernet). The performance of the server(s) used is important since significant amounts of data must be moved. In turn, however, the total performance depends on the IO sub-system s capacity and performance. 1.3 System requirements The amount of data to be processed must be considered first and foremost for the system requirements. The following parameters have a significant influence on the capacity, the required hard disk space and, in particular, the RAM required for the installation: the number of documents (and their file size) the number of articles the number of links The following table provides a first orientation based on the data amount of an exemplary brand. The listed values assume an average document size of 230 kb. If several brands need to be processed at the same time, the respective values must be added. Values in GB refer to the required RAM. Specifically for the database, this specification refers to the system global memory (SGA) that must be made available to the database.
