When this DC message is issued, an OPS rule may be triggered to start for example a quiesced backup. However, there is no equivalent message indicating that the quiesce operation has terminated, either automatically because the NOHOLD option was specified on the QUIESCE command or explicitly by a DCMT VARY ID xxx TERMINATE command. Therefore a new message "DC Quiesce terminated: ID=<dcmt-id> Datetime=<timestamp>" will be issued and will allow for another OPS rule to be triggered in order to continue with the current quiesced backup flow. When issuing for example DCMT VARY ID xxx TERMINATE, you will get message "Terminating the operation with id xxx", but there is no message telling that the quiesce operation really has terminated. There is currently no way to automatically continue with the next step in the quiesced backup process when the quiesce operation has terminated. CIRCUMVENTION: There is no circumvention available. In other similar cases, the query may cause other abends, wrong results or erroneous messages being issued. All these problems are related to storage being overwritten. Executing the query through BCF may cause the job to abend with a S0C4 in IDMSHLDB. Users are not able to successfully run the query. CIRCUMVENTION: Split the query in several sub-queries and reduce the number of scalar functions for each sub-query. Messages will get queued up instead of being written to the log. Each new message will take up more storage, so it is possible to go SOS. Shutdown may hang. A DCMT V LOG DRIVER OFFLINE will return message DC CA IDMS/DC IS NOT CURRENTLY LOGGING TO THE DATABASE. Other symptoms may be possible. If this happens, database logging will effectively be disabled. Queued messages will be lost when CV is brought down. However this can't happen unless a log driver is first varied offline and then back online. Normally log drivers are not varied offline. CIRCUMVENTION: Stop and restart CV. If shutdown hangs, CV will need to be cancelled. Once CV is back up, don't vary a Log Driver off and on.
