ENTRIES = ++PTF (RO81979) CASRVSYM RECURSIVE S0C4 ABENDS PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If an abend occurs in the CA Common Variable Service, the recovery routine may experience an S0C4 abend which will re-invoke the recovery routine, and will produce SVC dumps repeatedly until the JOB is cancelled. SYMPTOMS: An abend message would appear on the SYSLOG if a problem occurs, followed by a dump for the original abend, then an S0C4 abend will occur, followed by a dump for the S0C4, and the same S0C4 abend will repeat again until the job is cancelled. IMPACT: SYSLOG will get lots of messages from the abend, and system dump datasets may fill up with redundant dumps. Manual intervention will be required to recover from the problem. CIRCUMVENTION: Correct the cause of the original abend that caused the CASRVSYM recovery routine to be entered. This would be in the first SVC dump that is generated when the error occured. PROBLEM RESOLUTION: Apply PTF to the system. Deploy CAW0LINK dataset. Refresh LLA. The ENF/CICS frontend CAS9xxB intercepts the call and then routes the call to the real DFHERM in AMODE 64 which results in a AEE0 abend. Problem has been found in CICS/TS5.2 and above. SYMPTOM: DLI calls result in a AEE0 abend. IMPACT: Application failure. CIRCUMVENTION: None. PROBLEM RESOLUTION: Apply PTF with SMP/E Deploy CAW0LOAD and refresh LLA if necessary. If running with the CICSREL parameter in ENF, issue the following console command, ENF REFRESH(CAS9C69,CAS9C70).
