17 Back-reflection Probes Our Back-reflection Probes are a convenient way to the spectral information of a diffuse, or specular materials from a surface. The light from a light source is sent through the six illumination fibers to the sample and the reflection is measured by a 7th fiber in the center of the reflection probe tip. The 7th fiber in the center of bundle is coupled to a spectrometer configured to the appropriate wavelength range of interest. More illumination fibers can be added to get more energy from the light source and increase the reflection signal level. We optimize your bundles for the various parameters, including NA and fiber core. These can be flexibly configured and tailored precisely to your application needs. Optionally, our fiber bundles contain several fibers arranged in a line configuration (linear) at one end and a circular configuration (round) at the other end. The round-to-linear fiber bundle cables are commonly used to increase the coupling efficiency into spectrometers and other optical devices thatt have an entrance slit. For some applications, the special round to linear fiber cables are recommended in which a bundle of fibers configured in a round pattern on one end and a linear array on the other end. We recommend with the larger core fiber at input fiber than the fiber core at output in orderr to have the higher coupling efficiency. We have two kind of products, such as rack mount type and a hand-piece type. The rack mount type is mounted at the panel of the laser system. The standard rack mount type has the monitoring hole at input SMA port in order to sense the perfect connection of the input connector. Optionally, the rack mount type with the shutter function has the shutter slit around the input SMA with the monitoring hole together.
