1 Connecting your EYEsurv ESC-PTZ-600 to your DVR Introduction: This guide will take you through each step in connecting your EYEsurv PTZ to your DVR allowing for full control and movement. Step 1: First we will need to identify the wires to allow us to connect the correct ones. RS485: Yellow = A+ Orange = B- Power Wires: Red = 24VAC Black = 24VAC Green+Yellow = Ground To begin, first we will need to run a wire from the "A" port on the RS485 connection on the back of our DVR directly to the Yellow wire and connect these two together. Next we will need to run a wire from the "B" port directly to the orange wire and properly connect them together.

2 Step 2: Next we will need to connect wires from a 24VAC power supply to the red and black power cables coming from the PTZ. Since a 24VAC power supply is required, polarity does not matter. Once you have these cables properly connected move on to the next step. Step 3: Now we need to connect a BNC cable from one of the channel ports on the back of the DVR directly to the BNC connection coming from the PTZ. This will allow a video feed to your DVR. Once this cable is connected and all other cables are properly connected you can plug in the PTZs power supply. Step 4: Once the PTZ is plugged in you should see a boot configuration come up on the screen, while the PTZ loads it checks for errors and any issues. After the PTZ has fully configured and if everything checked out you should see a message saying "Configure Done", notice at the top of the screen there are "Addr"(Address) and "Baud Rate" take note of these as we will need to set the DVR to correspond with these settings.

3 The factory defaults are as follows: Address Baud Rate Parity None. Step 4-Part 2: If you need to change the address or the baud rate take off the clear dome cover and locate the switch on the backside of the PTZ. Once you have it taken out you will notice switches on the back labeled Address, Baud, and Parity. This is where you can set each one to your specifications. The settings are described below: The switch is ON if it is UP. The Switch is OFF if it is DOWN. In binary code 1 = ON and 0 = OFF. To set the address number set the switches according to the diagram below, keep in mind this PTZ uses a binary system, therefore if you need to set your address to a number that isn't listed on the diagram you will need to pull up a binary conversion webpage and then convert the number to binary, for your convenience we have listed the numbers 1 through 32 in binary form below, also we have listed a few web pages with binary calculators in case you need to set your address number to something other than Number conversions in binary form:

5 Here are a few WebPages with binary calculators: Example 1: If you need to set your camera to channel 25 you would first calculate 25 into a binary number either by using the chart or web pages above. Once you have the binary number for 25 which is you then will need to look at the address switches on the PTZ. Starting at the #1 address switch you will read the binary number starting from the right to the left therefore #1 would be set to ON, #2 set to OFF, #3 set to OFF, #4 set to ON, and #5 set to ON. (See example below) Example 2: The binary code for the number 18 is 10010, if we want to set the address to 18 then you would set 5 to ON, 4 = OFF, 3 = OFF, 2 = ON, 1 = OFF.

6 Basically, the binary number is reversed when corresponding to the address switches. The chart below might help you correspond the binary number to the address for your Pan Tilt Zoom camera. Hopefully this gives you a better understanding of the address switch for this PTZ. The values available range from

7 To set the Baud Rate adjust the switches according to the diagram below. If you need to change the parity set the switches according to the diagram below.

8 Step 5: Access your DVRs PTZ functions by right clicking, select Main Menu, select the Settings Icon, then in the settings screen select the Pan-Tilt-Zoom option to bring up the PTZ settings. Here we need to match up 3 things: Protocol, Address, and Baud Rate. Since the PTZ currently has an address set to 001 the DVRs address should be set to 1. Next, if you have an EYEsurv DVR we suggest using the DH-SD1 protocol as it gives you extra features when combined with this EYEsurv PTZ. If you have a different brand DVR we suggest using Pelco D or P (this PTZ will automatically detect whether the DVR is sending out common protocols such as Pelco D/P, etc). Lastly, make sure the Baud rate on the DVR matches up with the baud rate of the PTZ (Default is 2400bps), after you are done click save. Step 6: Now to make sure the PTZ is communicating with the DVR we will right click, then on the menu select the "Pan-Tilt-Zoom" option to bring up the on screen controls.
