Enable. Empower. SOLARKIOSK.
A huge potential market. World-wide, 1.5 billion people are not connected to an electricity grid. 800 million of them in Africa. That is our market: rural off-grid areas. Overview The world at night today. No light = no power = no business. That's where we are going.
Africa today: the mobile phone revolution
led to the ENERGY DIVIDE because there is no electricity to charge them!
led to a LOT MORE DEMAND because now people want internet, TV, radio, music, education, communication, entertainment, and: better products!
but how without electricity grid? The average rural household in Sub-Saharan Africa spends 120 annually on unclean energy subsidies: bio-mass (wood) and bio-fuel (kerosene, diesel). A mobile phone charge costs up to 0.50 and often incurs traveling to the next regional town.
Grid extension, wind, hydro are often not an option as they are either not viable or too expensive.
It is time for an ENERGY REVOLUTION in AFRICA:

What is SOLARKIOSK? SOLARKIOSK is a scalable, flexible, inclusive business model combined with a smart building, technology and software.
Our business: front-end retail & energy services. Products solar products cold drinks cell phones & prepaid cards agriculture products (seeds, fertilizers) fast-moving consumer goods (washing powder, cofee, honey, sanitary items) Services phone charging batteries charging internet print / scan / copy entertainment (news, sports, movies on TV) hair salon tailor shop Because we have the power to sell, we can sell anything.
Intertwining sales and services.
Beating the diesel generator. Diesel-generated electricity in rural of-grid areas costs from 0.80 to 1.60 per kwh. Electricity from SOLARKIOSK comes at 0.60 per kwh with a decreasing tendency.
The result: SOLARKIOSK is the new market place in the village. The SOLARKIOSK will be the only kiosk in the village that is fully equipped to operate at night; has a solar fridge; can be locked & is secure; has a great design.
The building: an optimum between otherwise conflicting features. affordable secure scalable beautiful flexible durable controllable
A smart building, secure, durable, modular and sexy. integrated solar panels roof ventilation shading to counter aluminum frame integrated electrical cabinet integrated shelves Standard-size kiosk: 2.4 by 3.2 meters 1 kw peak power yields 4 6 kwh of energy per day. steel wall panels four corner footings wide hatch opening
The SOLARPAD makes every kiosk smart managing our energy efciency solution tailored for off-grid markets
so that every kiosk is connected with the SOLARKIOSK network.
Proof of concept. 12 months in the field: 7 kiosks in Ethiopia 5 kiosks in Kenya 3 kiosk generations
This is where our kiosks run profitably.
Future business extensions banking telecom towers entertainment water purification agriculture services (fertilizers, seeds) advertising solar kiosks extended to mini grids school classrooms disaster relief centers health centers
leading to the future: SOLARKIOSK VILLAGE
Who we are. A team of dedicated entrepreneurs, engineers, lawyers, architects and programmers: 25 people in the Berlin, Nairobi and Addis Abeba companies; more than 35 people running the kiosks.
Mission Vision Strategy We have an innovative hardware for remote, off-grid areas especially in Africa, We want to bring clean energy, products and an international, services to off-grid multi-skilled team areas world wide, with Africa expertise, by combining retail We aim to become the standardized, and energy services path to development simple, efficient in innovative new processes; as the front end of kiosks, retail and energy an infinitely scalable together with local services in of-grid business model: entrepreneurs as areas worldwide in the we can run 500 kiosks, inclusive business. next 5 years. or 100,000.
We believe in doing well by doing good. profitable scalable business model designed for fast rollout smart building, smart technology and smart software solution development & environmental impact where it is most needed inclusive bottom of the pyramid business enabling through empowering
Financing the scaling up. Done: Stage A Next: Stage B Then: Stage C Original shareholders equity, grants Debt Proof of concept: 12 pilots in two countries Scaling up to 100 kiosks to become bankable Thousands of kiosks in 10 countries (scalability and cash flow reliable enough for banks)
