2 MWA was launched in March of 2010 MSWA will be a business association comprised of members from all sectors of the wireless industry whose objective is the promotion and advancement of the industry by means of education, awareness and opportunity. Our Mission Statement : The association's mission is to be a unified voice in state and local legislative matters impacting the industry and will be a central repository for collection and distribution of news and information for its members. In addition, the association will look to cultivate relationships and exchange ideas between the wireless telecommunications professionals and the local communities that they serve. The Michigan State Wireless Association is supported by the Personal Communications Industry Association (PCIA) and joins a current team of 38 state associations through a national State Wireless Association Program called SWAP. MWA has (19) member board lead by President Mike Lord Metro PCS Regional VP, Network Operations. During our first year we held several educational and social events including a golf outing which enabled us to give back to the State of Michigan s less fortunate children. MWA supported Child and Family Services of Michigan We were able to donate $15,000 to the Operation Christmas Child campaign in 2010.

3 Near Term Industry Issues Data demand growth driven by one third of mobile users have smart phones, mobile data traffic grew by 159 percent in 2010, the evolution 4G LTE technology deployment is placing increasing demands on wireless networks. 47 percent of time is spent on maps, games, social networking, utilities and other popular applications. Use of applications and development of operating systems have lead to rapid deployment techniques by carriers to meet this demand. In Europe mobile penetration exceeded 140 percent due to multiple device ownership. The US at 93 percent is heading is that direction. Wireless infrastructure is changing and traditional wireless sites need to be supplemented with newer more effective ways to reach the customers in their business s and home s. Increasing demand for outdoor Distributed Antennas Systems (DAS) and in-building DAS systems for airports, convention centers, stadiums, malls and office buildings. Anywhere everywhere large numbers of people gather capacity to provide high speed data and voice services is growing. The fabric of our lives involves wireless.

4 Existing Tower Infrastructure-modification and placement of new stealth technology to reach residential, historical and natural park areas where customers require coverage. Municipal Zoning continues to be a challenge in certain areas for the deployment of wireless networks. Demands on suppliers and carriers to be invisible with smaller equipment footprints and disguised or camouflaged technology is a continuing trend. Broadband Deployment to rural communities is a goal for our nation. How do we accomplish this with a business model that will create enough revenue to support the network development in areas where population is minimal. Future Proof the Networks with expandable capabilities involving reduced equipment requirements, deployment of Ethernet and other Microwave backhaul techniques to enable higher data speed content capacity and equal to the internet. Customers are demanding the same experience they receive on their wired connections. Evolution to 4G, 5G, LTE, VOIP and beyond.
