3 CENTRE FOR DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSONS BHARATHIDASAN UNIVERSITY TIRUCHIRAPPALLI AIM: DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER FUNDAMENTAL & OFFICE AUTOMATION To train & educate intellectually challenged children to gain provided skills & knowledge to operate computers independently. OBJECTIVES: To make them understand the principles of software and hardware operations To train and educate the mechanical part of computers ( electrical & electronic operations) To educate MS-office system, internet operations, online, offline working areas To train them to work on the comment based activities in MS-office system To make the participants to understand various services based on online and offline surfaces EXPECTED OUTCOME: On completion of the course, the trainees are expected to: exhibit improved understanding of computer operations abilities to operate ms-office operations gain skills & knowledge to browse and get updated worldwide information have learning skills & knowledge to work on simple projects laid on text and numerical data REGULATIONS TITLE OF THE COURSE: DURATION: Diploma in Computer Fundamental and Office Automation The duration of the course will be Two Years. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION The medium of instruction will be Bilingual (Tamil & English) NUMBER OF INTAKE The maximum number of student s enrolment for the course will be 10. ELIGIBILITY Children with Mental Retardation of age 14 and above (Chronological age) are eligible for admission in the course. ATTENDANCE Every student should put in at least 75% attendance in each course. No candidate who has put in attendance for less than 75% of the working days in a semester will be permitted to take the ESE unless he/she gets condonation certificate. A candidate who has put in less than 65% attendance in a course, he/she has to either repeat the course or take an equivalent course.
4 EXAMINATION Examination will be conducted at the end of each academic year. Comprehensive continuous assessment will be done at regular intervals. 5 GPA alone is given GPA and CGPA are calculated by the following formula: i C i GP i j S j GPA j GPA j = and CGPA = < j n i C i j S j Where C i is the credit assigned to the i th subject; GP i is the grade points earned in the i th subject; S j is the sum of the credits assigned to each courses of the j th semester; GPA j is the grade point average earned in the j th semester. n Total number of semesters Final Result CGPA is 9.01 and above (with pass in all I Class with Exemplary subjects in first attempt) CGPA is 7.51 and above but less than 9.01 CGPA is 6.01 and above but less than 7.51 CGPA is 5.00 and above but less than 6.01 Passing Minimum I Class with Distinction I Class II Class A candidate shall be declared to have passed in each paper if he/she secures not less than 40 marks in the University Examination. He/She shall be declared to have passed the whole examination & qualified for the degree if he/she passes in all the five papers Classification of Successful Candidates Those who secure 60% or above the maximum marks shall be declared to have passed in first class. Those who secure 50% or above but below 60% shall be declared to have passed in second class. All others who secure 40% or above but less than 50% of marks shall be declared to have passed the examination in third class. Award of degree A candidate shall be eligible for the award of the degree for the said course if the student has passed all the examinations prescribed thereof. Revision of Regulations and Curriculum The University may from time to time revise, amend and change the regulations and curriculum if found necessary.
