1 ProctorU LTI Proctored Exam Scheduling Purpose : Demonstrate how to create a proctored exam schedule within Moodle using ProctorU LTI integration. * Note that you do not upload exams or files into your exam schedule but you will supply information about your exams and rules into the exam schedule for the proctor to follow. Prerequisites: Moodle course or Sandbox Exams to schedule This document is divided into 3 sections:login to ProctorU LTI 1. Creating a Proctored Exam Schedule Exam Settings Exam Configuration Exam Windows 1. Login to ProctorU LTI Step 1: Access Moodle course that you have created a ProctorU link (see ProctorU LTI Initial User Informational Sheet_05/05/2016 information sheet to create an account and link). Click the ProctorU link. Step 2 : You will automatically log into your account (can take up to 10 seconds to appear). 2A. Creating a Proctored Exam Schedule Exam Settings Step 1 : Click the Add New (blue) button and choose Exam from the drop down menu. Step 2 : The settings page for the exam schedule will open. Under the Exam Settings heading, type an exam title and the select the department. If you do not see your department listed choose, do not choose anything and contact Office of Distance Learning so that your department may be created and listed. See image on next page. Creating a Proctored Exam Schedule Exam Configuration Step 1 : Under next section, Exam Configuration, click on the drop down menu labeled Term and select the correct semester the exam will take place. Step 2 : Instructor. Your name should already be filled out. Step 3 : Duration. You need to have an approximation of the minutes the student might be testing listed here. Step 4 : Exam URL. Copy and paste the moodle quiz address in this text slot. Step 5 : Exam Password. Type in the password you have used for your Moodle Quiz or Third Party test. The student does not see this. Re type the password in the Exam Password Confirmation. Step 6 : Template.???? You can make a template of your settings and then save and reuse for future exam schedulings.

3 Step 7 : No Resources Allowed. Click this checkbox if you do not want students to use any resources. Step 8 : Books. If you are allowing books as a resource, then please check all types of books that apply. Step 9 : Calculators. If this resource is allowed then check the boxes of the types of calculators that will be permitted. Step 10 : Notes. Check the boxes of those types of notes that a student will be able to use during testing. Step 11 : Web. Typically one would set this to the Course Website only but you can allow all websites or Pre Approved websites. If choosing Pre Approved then please list those websites under the Additional Notes (step 18). Step 12 : Scratch Paper. If allowed then select all the types of scratch paper you will allow the student to use during testing.. Step 13 : Software. If software applications are allowed then choose all that apply. This is not an exhaustive list so if there are other applications a student is allowed to use then please make not in the Additional Exam Notes & Accomodations (step 18). Step 14 : Other. If bathroom breaks are permitted then check, just realize that a student will be able to leave the supervision of the proctor.

4 Step 15 : Permitted Browsers. Click the checkboxes of the approved browser you will allow a student to use during testing. Step 16 : Other Resources. Any other resource that as an instructor you are allowing your students to use during an exam that might not be listed as an option. Step 17 : Expected Number of Test Takers. An approximate number of students that you believe will schedule an exam. Step 18 : Additional Exam Notes & Accommodations. Add additional notes and specific instructions here. Step 19 : Notify on Schedule s. Include your here if you would like to receive confirmation s as each of your students registers and schedules an exam date and time. Step 20 : Name. Who to contact if an issue occurs during exams, this typically would be your name. Step 21 : . Choose your prefered as a point of contact if any issues occur. You can leave other addresses (see step 23). Step 22 : Phone Number. Leave a phone number. You can leave any additional numbers in the next block (see step 23). Step 23 : Notes and Times Available. In this text input box you will type out who else ProctorU may contact if you are out and/or what other phone numbers and times that you can be contacted if any problems arise during testing.

5 2C. Creating a Proctored Exam Schedule Exam Windows Exam Window is where you as an instructor let ProctorU know what the Start date and time is of the exam, when it opens. This matches what you have set in Moodle. The End date and time NEEDS to be thought of as the last possible time the student can start the exam. Remember you need to add a minimum of 60 minutes at the End time for any technical difficulties that may occur. Example: If the exam is determined by you to only take an hour to complete and your close time in Moodle is set for 10 pm, then the End time in the ProctorU system could be set no later than 8 pm as you must give students the correct amount of time to finish the exam. This gives the student an hour to take the exam and an hour leeway in case there is a problem logging in or other technical difficulties. Step 1 : First Appointment. Select the date and time exams can be scheduled to begin. See right. Step 2 : Last Appointment. Select the last possible time and date for any student to schedule an exam time to be proctored and still have time to complete the test in the allotted time. Step 3 : Name. Can be left blank. Step 4 : Click the Submit For Review button. Your exam schedule will be created. You will then see a Summary window. Logout at this time. You can update or change settings at any time but all changes should be finalized Two Weeks before the scheduled exam.
