1 For Access to the Online Reserve Request Service (ORRS), users must have a Princeton netid and password.
2 All instructors currently teaching Princeton courses will have access automatically. All other users, unless previously registered, must submit an online application.
3 Choose the department offering your course (this may be different from your primary departmental affiliation).
4 Find your course using the auto-complete Course Number field. Alternatively, view all departmental offerings for the current semester by clicking the Send key.
5 After confirming that general information about the course is correct, review your list of requests before updating or approving it.
6 Each ORRS list is divided into three sections: hard copy items (books/coursepacks), electronic reserve readings (journal articles/book chapters/e-books), and audio-visual materials. Requests are sorted by author s last name by default, but can be sorted according to Title, Week Needed, or Call Number instead.
7 Clicking on any highlighted title will allow you to correct or update associated bibliographic information.
8 Please note: changing week of use or deleting an item from the list will update the database immediately, but bibliographic changes must be made by library staff.
9 Please allow time for library staff to process your request for any change of bibliographic information.
10 Click the Add button to add an item to any section.
11 The Title Keyword search will find any work previously used for course reserve. Please remember that you are searching the ORRS database and not the Main Catalog.
12 The Title Keyword search also features an auto-complete function.
13 Because this sample search was for a physical copy of a book to be placed on reserve, a loan period must be selected. The Week Needed indication is optional.
14 If you are unable to find a title in the ORRS database, your next step should be to search the Library s online catalog.
15 If the item is owned by the library, a call number or other identifier will be part of the catalog record. Copy this information to add this selection to your reserve list.
16 Paste the call number into the appropriate field in the template, then click the Get catalog info button. The remaining fields will be populated automatically.
17 This process can be repeated indefinitely until your list is complete. Your ORRS list can be updated whenever additions, changes or deletions are required. If a text, sound or video recording in any format is not owned by the Library, we will acquire a copy. To submit a purchase request for any reserve item, we require only that you complete this form manually.
18 Titles recently added to your list will display immediately.
19 Clicking the Approve Course List button will send a report to the Reserve staff that there are requests to be processed for your course. If you do not approve your list, changes will be saved but Library staff will not be alerted.
20 After clicking the Approve button, you will see a message confirming your submission on the following screen. You will also receive confirmation via .
