Examity Configuring Examity in an Imported MBA Course Purpose: This informational sheet will explain how to set up Examity in an imported Moodle course that already includes Examity links. If your course does not already include Examity links, please see Configuring Examity in a New Course. Prerequisites: Fill out web request form on EduTools website for Examity Received response from ODL that you are ready to proceed Part 1 Configuring the Examity Link Step 1: Log into your Moodle course. Step 2: Turn Editing on. Step 3: Locate the Examity link(s) in your course. Step 4: For each link, click the Edit drop down menu and select Edit Settings (see image to right). Step 5: In the Preconfigured tool field, select Examity SSO from the drop down menu (see image below). Step 6: Click on the Show more link at the bottom of the General settings section. Step 7: Set the Launch container field to New window. Step 8: Expand the Grade settings section by clicking the right-facing arrow. Step 9: Set the Grade Type to None (at right). Step 10: Click the Save and return to course button. Updated 12/14/2017
Part 2 Configuring the Exam Window To finalize Examity you will need to access the Examity Dashboard. It may take up to 24 hours after you receive a confirmation from ODL for Examity and Moodle to synchronize and pull your exam data from your course into the Examity system. Step 1: To access the Dashboard, click the Examity link that you configured in Part 1 of this guide. Step 2: Select the Instructor option and click Log In. Step 3: Once on the dashboard, click Courses/Exams (see image at right.) Step 4: You will see any of your courses that are registered with Examity. Click the small triangle to the left of the course containing the exam you would like to configure. The example below shows the exam called Jef s Test within the course named Sandbox-Hargroder2. (Note: If you are setting up a non-moodle exam in McGraw Hill Connect, you will need to add that exam manually by clicking on the Add Exam icon (orange page) to the far right of the course name. Then skip to step 6.) Step 5: Click the Edit (pencil) icon. Step 6: Complete the Add Exam form in its entirety. If information is missing from this form, students will be unable to complete exams. An annotated example using information from MBA 513 can be seen on the next page.
Type in the Exam Name Select Length of Exam This address can be used for all Foundation courses. Select Exam Window Start and End Times. See Exam Window note below for important information. Enter Exam Password from Connect or Moodle Items outlined/noted in red are the only items you need to adjust in the top portion of the form. This information should match the information in McGraw Hill Connect or Moodle. Exam Window: When setting up the exam window, you must take into account the length of the exam. You are also strongly encouraged to factor in at least 30 minutes for a student to troubleshoot any technical difficulties before beginning the exam. So, a 1-hour exam that is set to close in Moodle at midnight should have an end time (i.e. last available appointment) set in Examity for no later than 10:30 p.m. to account for the length of the exam (1 hour) and the 30-minute setup cushion. Exam Password: Only proctors can see the Exam Password that is set in Examity. Take extreme care to ensure that the exam password set in Examity is exactly the same as the password that is set in Moodle or Connect. If the passwords are not identical, neither the student nor the proctor will be able to access the exam.
Additional Rules: In the Additional Rules section towards the bottom of the form, you will need to check the boxes next to both Handheld calculator and Scrap paper. Special Instructions: In the Special Instructions section at the bottom of the form, you will need to manually enter a series of special instructions that are specific to your course (see list at bottom). Type in each statement individually (1), select visibility for both student and proctor (2), and click the Save button for each statement (3). See an example below Step 7: Once you have selected all test preferences for this exam, click the Save Exam button at the bottom of the form. Your exam has now been configured, and students can begin scheduling appointments to take their exam by clicking on this same link in your Moodle course. List of Special Instructions by MBA Course MBA 510, 511, & Student may use a non-programmable calculator. MBA Student may use a graphing calculator. 5. Students may use attached MBA 513 Exam Resource PDF during the exam.
ECON Student may use a non-programmable calculator. 4. Scratch Paper: Students may have one page of scratch paper. Scratch paper must be inspected before the test. Scratch Paper must be destroyed in presence of proctor after the test. ACCT Student may use a scientific calculator. If you have any questions or problems, please contact: Office of Distance Learning distancelearning@louisiana.edu
