4 This enables your successful apprentices to gain RITTech at the end of their apprenticeship programme without the need for further assessment and marks your organisation out as one committed to professionalism and quality in your delivery outcomes. Accreditation can also be provided for existing apprenticeship schemes, enabling apprentices qualifying now to benefit from RITTech and stand-out in the world of IT. During the pilot of RITTech, BCS partnered with Just IT to develop the accreditation process. Just IT saw the value in partnering with BCS on the new RITTech qualification from the outset and were delighted to be the first Training Provider to be approved. We strongly believe that it supports the career aspirations of the young adults we place in to apprenticeships who are serious about developing their career in the IT and Digital arena. In turn, all our employers gain a higher calibre employee and where they are IT Services or Managed Service Providers, it enhances their reputation with their own clients too. 5 THE STANDARD RITTech is a standard, not a qualification. There is no exam, it is measured against SFIA level 3 and recognises technicians that can apply their technical knowledge and skills in an IT work environment with confident competence, and who show professional behaviours whilst doing so. The online assessment process covers a range of specialist areas and registrants will be required to provide competencies based evidence that they: contribute to the design, development, manufacture, construction, commissioning operation or maintenance of IT products, equipment, processes, systems or services exhibit professional behaviours and commit to a professional code of conduct use IT knowledge and understanding to apply technical and practical skills use appropriate and effective communication and interpersonal skills accept and exercise personal accountability

7 MAINTAINING COMPETENCE AND COMMITMENT TO PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS Registered IT Technicians are required to make a formal commitment to maintain and enhance their competence, uphold professional standards of conduct and promote the responsible and effective use of IT. To maintain their registration this will usually be exemplified by retaining membership of a body licensed to award Registered IT Technician status, keeping a record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which will be reviewed at least every three years to confirm continued competence. RITTECH FOR IT AND DIGITAL APPRENTICESHIP ACCREDITATION RITTech has been aligned with the new Trailblazer Apprenticeships and as the further apprenticeships come into play, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT can offer providers and assessors the option of accreditation. 8 WHAT IS Professional Registration for IT Technicians, RITTech, is the first UK standard to recognise and represent a wide variety of technical staff. IT Technicians design, build and maintain the IT world around us but there has previously been no accreditation or standard that allows these valuable technicians to be easily recognised for the work they carry out every day. RITTech is a real game changer for IT professionals, the very people who are enabling change and driving innovation in the current digital revolution. It will also become a game changer for digital and IT apprenticeships as BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT is able to accredit Apprenticeship Programmes against RITTech.

9 HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? The Professional Registration for IT Technicians is valid for three years. After three years technicians will be asked to renew their registration and they will have to demonstrate that they have maintained their technical competence.
