Introducing myoet April & June myoet - our new digital platform (system) will offer seamless, end to end OET test cycle delivery and administration, encompassing: Candidate Registration Portal (main access point for candidates) Test Delivery & Invigilation Portal (main access point for test venues) Test Assessment (main access point for OET marking)
Introducing myoet September myoet will enable: delivery of an updated OET test, and OET computer based testing (alongside paper based tests)
myoet timelines Computer based testing (CBT) of OET on myoet (delivered at the same time as paper based tests) Sept 18 3 Updated OET Test (updated test tasks & new results reporting) Sept 18 2 June 18 1 myoet goes live (new digital OET test delivery and administration platform)
From June: myoet Test Delivery & Invigilation myoet at a glance will result in a more simplified, streamlined, end-to-end delivery and administration of the OET test cycle will replace the current system (CARS) OET test delivery and administrative tasks (pre, post and test day) currently performed in CARS will be performed in myoet myoet will eliminate or significantly reduce many existing time consuming, manual tasks performed at venues today - making delivery and administration simpler, easier, and more secure myoet Test Delivery & Invigilation Portal will be the main portal used by venue managers and staff
From September: Updated OET test on myoet OET test format changes will have little impact on test venues Some OET test tasks will be changed slightly Format changes will be designed to support computer based test delivery of OET (the speaking module will remain largely as is) The language proficiency level being tested will be the same (ie the test will be neither harder nor easier)
From September: Computer based testing (CBT) on myoet myoet will enable delivery of CBT in line with other English test providers Test venue s are not obliged to offer OET via CBT, and candidates will be able to sit a paper based test at venues that offer paper based testing OET via CBT can be offered at test venues that meet all mandatory requirements for CBT test delivery OET via CBT will be delivered at the same time as paper based OET delivery - this will occur on the same test day with the same test content Testing on demand will not be available (but may be offered in the future)
What does this mean for test venues? Swapna Hegde & Andrew Pope Operations Support Managers
Test Delivery & Invigilation key changes Candidate - registration and photos Candidates will be registered direct into myoet providing a real time view of candidate numbers, withdrawals and deferrals (no more paper based candidate registers) Test day photos will be captured in myoet at registration, enabling real time verification against the candidate profile photo (candidates will no longer need to hold up paper registration numbers) Candidate test day photo will be verified in myoet using facial recognition biometrics Candidate ID checks (registration & test rooms) Check-in at registration and in test rooms will be direct in myoet via devices (removing the need for manual ID check forms)
Test Delivery & Invigilation key changes Candidate photos - renaming Candidate test day photo will be saved directly into candidates' profiles in myoet (no longer need to rename and upload photo files) Candidate - test papers Candidate details and photo will be printed on all test materials All pages in test papers will contain a unique barcode Completed test papers scanning and uploading Completed test booklets will be perforated and at the end of the tests disassembled into single A4 pages prior to being scanned Once scanned, all test pages will be uploaded into myoet (test venues will no longer need to pack and return materials by courier) Test materials will be securely destroyed by the venue
Venue Management key changes Initial setup by CBA Initial venue set up will be completed by CBLA including system access and permissions Initial setup by Test Venues Venue Managers will: allocate administration staff to roles (eg invigilator, interlocutor, registration), setup which rooms will be used as test rooms (eg speaking etc), and set capacity for each room System will automatically populate candidates into timetables (no more time consuming, manual timetabling)
What is required from test venues? To be myoet ready for the 16 June OET, your test venue Must meet the technical requirements for scanning and uploading completed test papers to myoet Must meet the technical requirements for registration of candidates into myoet Must be ready now, or at least one month before the June OET, to implement MyOET in your test venue Must confirm readiness by completing the myoet Readiness Assessment on Survey Monkey Must complete minimum OET readiness and transition activities, such as training Please note: It is not necessary to be ready for computer based testing on 16 June OET - CBT functionality will not be enabled in myoet until September
Have you confirmed if your test venue will be ready for myoet? Checklist Test Venues need to confirm the following before they can undertake further myoet readiness and transition activities: We will meet the myoet technical specifications for scanning and uploading for June OET We know when we will be ready and have completed the myoet Readiness Assessment in Survey Monkey We have clarified all our questions, issues, and concerns about what is required to prepare our test venue for myoet in June Still uncertain? for assistance
What s next? Readiness & Transition Test venues that are ready to proceed will receive a myoet Test Venue Transition Toolkit encompassing: Access to the myoet training environment so you can start to explore the myoet Test Delivery & Invigilation Portal Initial training and Quick Reference Guides on how to use the key system functionality Relevant pre/post & test day scenarios to practice in the myoet training environment A checklist to help you review/ setup the test day physical environment Access to fact sheets, short videos, FAQ s and other support materials Another readiness assessment after you ve had a chance to practice & play on the new platform
What s next? Readiness & Transition Test venues selected to participate in a pilot of myoet, will receive their myoet Pilot Toolkit More details about what this involves will be provide shortly
myoet technical specifications for scanning and CBT Louie Lambrianidis Project Manager
Technical specifications scanning & uploading to myoet Materials to be scanned for electronic return to CBLA A high-speed multifunction device such as an office multi-function printer is suitable Single Pass Double sided A4 scanning helps 300 DPI resolution scanning Local IT Support for all devices, computers, and networks
Technical specifications Registration and CBT via myoet Registration and CBT Modern Windows based computer Reliable and fast Internet connection Compatible web browser Additionally for CBT Locked down computer settings for security HD monitor and headphones Local IT support for all devices, computers, and networks
Time for your questions Any questions? We will respond to all questions submitted by test venues and post some FAQ s on the test venue secure site
Questions from the myoet Readiness Assessment Question Will myoet enable the OET test to be delivered in both paper based and computer based formats? Response Yes. From the 16 June OET, paper test booklets will be scanned and uploaded by test venues to myoet, removing the need to courier completed test papers to CBLA in Melbourne. Test Venues will also be able to offer (if they choose) computer based testing of OET to candidates from the September OET.
Questions from the myoet Readiness Assessment Question Response If we can t deliver OET via computer based testing, we still continue to deliver OET in paper based mode? (University of Otago Langauage Centre and Foundation, New Zealand) Yes.
Questions from the myoet Readiness Assessment Question Response Do test venues have to deliver computer based testing of OET? (Academy of English, Deutschland) No, this is not mandatory at this stage. Whether test venues decide to invest in computer equipment and offer CBT testing, when it is enabled in myoet from the September OET, is a matter for individual test venues.
Technical questions from the myoet Readiness Assessment Question Response What if we have no local IT support on weekends? (UC College, Canberra) Seek and arrange local IT support. Test venues need to individually decide what method and level of support is appropriate for your venue.
Technical questions from the myoet Readiness Assessment Question What if scanners do not recognise the barcode on test papers and slow the process down? (UC College, Canberra) Response Test venues will need to do a pre-test of their scanning to check their scanner is scanning correctly. There will also be a "scanned paper test" exceptions report to help venues identify missed scanned pages or codes not recognised for re-scanning.
Technical questions from the myoet Readiness Assessment Question Will finger scanners be acceptable? (ACE Testing Hub, Philippines) Response There is no requirement for using finger scanners to log into a computer. The only scanning requirement is to scan paper based test papers and upload the files to the system.
Technical questions from the myoet Readiness Assessment Question Why does the computer need to have 2TB hard drive? (Hunter TAFE Newcastle ELC) Response This is not a mandatory requirement only a guide for a modern computer. The intention is to ensure there is adequate hard disk space to manage all the volume of OET files as some files may be large.
Technical questions from the myoet Readiness Assessment Question What happens if our computers do not have auto-login enabled (this is our policy for security reasons)? (RELC Examinations Bureau, Singapore) Response For OET CBT testing, if any specific mandatory technical requirement can not be met or achieved, then CBT will not be possible. If further technical information or clarification is required about security constraints, please contact us direct.
Thanks for your time today If you have more questions, please
