3 Network infrastructure for IRCCS and IZS The infrastructure is characterized by: high bandwidth direct connection user equipment for the local area network (LAN) connnection 44 IRCCS (Research Hospitals) sites, 10 IZS (Livestock well-being and health Institutes) sites, CNAO (National Centre of Oncological Hadrontherapy (CNAO) site, 2 Ministry of Health premises ensure an upgrade of the infrastructure according to user requirements offer the same connectivity features throughout the Italian territory - symmetrical and bidirectional transmission capacity - 100% of institutions with 100Mbps capacity - optical fibre, where possible, due to its scalability characteristics Sabrina Tomassini // EAPConnect e-health workshop// Roma, 30-31/10/2018 3

6 Network Operations Centre GARR-NOC Network and fault management from GARR staff, provides support in the configuration of user equipment as well as managing and configuring backbone devices. 7 Cybersecurity GARR-CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) assists users in the management of computer security incidents and in the implementation of prevention and mitigation measures. The service disseminates information on the most common vulnerabilities and security tools to be adopted; issues directives on the minimum safety requirements for machines with access to the network and verifies compliance with them. GARR has been activating IPv6 routing since 10 years agoi Each institute has a Class C (256 addreddes, public IPv4) Some institutes have requested IPv6 addresses. 15 Wifi and mobility eduroam is the international service that provides secure and free access to wireless networks to all teachers, students, researchers in Europe and around the world and allows them to use an Internet connection wherever they are and with the same credentials used in their usual place of work. The advantage is in the federated approach that allows to combine security with ease of use. 18 Network monitoring GINS monitoring system (GARR Integrated Networking Suite) includes tools for diagnosing and tracing problems of the network infrastructure and services as well as traffic monitoring systems. 19 GARRbox - personal storage GARRbox is a personal cloud storage service for file storage and sharing. It is an alternative to commercial services (such as Dropbox, Google Drive or SugarSync) designed specifically for the Italian research and education community. It enables data synchronization between different devices, such as PCs, tablets and smartphones, and the collaboration and sharing of resources with other users and work groups. Thanks to the IDEM Federation, access is controlled and verified. Resources are guaranteed over time and there are no unilateral changes to the agreements.
