1 UB Page 1 of 7 Aspire Release 6.00 Software More IP, More Features NEC Unified is pleased to announce the Aspire/Aspire S Release 6 software. The release 6 adds some exciting new features to the Aspire. Features being delivered include UserPro, which allows an end user to program their own telephone via a browser and the new Conference Bridge Card with scheduling software. With the Release 6.00 system software, a new version of PC Programming is also available for use with the 6.00 system software. PCPro Version 6.20 is needed for programming systems with 6.00 software. PCPro 6.20 is backwards compatible with previous versions of system software. Both new system software and new PCPro software may be downloaded at no charge from the Technical Support Site: A password is required for access to this site. Please read further for the new features and a brief description of them. Conference Bridge Interface Card The new conference bridge has 16 conference circuits which are dynamically assigned as needed. The conferences can be set up as 4 4 party conferences or 8 2 party conferences or 1 16 party conference or any combination up to 16 ports. A browser-based GUI allows users to set up their own conferences which can include notification, password control and conference lockout. Built-in speech features can ask the name of the conference entrant and then play it to all parties in the conference. The conference bridge has automatic gain control and provides for amplification and compensation assuring high grade quality. For more details, please refer to the user manual. The Conference Bridge may only be used on the large Aspire system. UserPro Browser GUI Many of our end users would like to set up their own phone using their desktop PC. UserPro provides two levels of point-and-click access to the most commonly used features. Each station has their own password and can perform operations such as set call forward, assign feature keys and program their speed dials from

2 Page 2 of 7 their own PC. For an administrator, more system-based features can be accessed such as DID and trunk name programming and day/night mode setting. Station Park This enhancement allows any user to park a call at another station and access the paging system to announce the call. The paged party can go to any phone and use the directed call pickup feature to pick up the call parked at their phone. SIP Enhancements Enhancements to both SIP trunks and SIP extensions are in Release 6.0 software as follows: SIP trunks now support Carrier Modes B and C. This will provide for connectivity to more SIP carriers than previous software. SIP extensions feature support has been greatly expanded from previous versions. With Release 6.0, the SIP extensions support almost all of the features a standard single line phone does. Receiving a message waiting signal is currently not supported but will be available in a future software release. Please refer to the release notes for a full list of features supported the SIP extensions. Timers by Class of Service Common timers may now be set differently based on class of service. Many times one customer wants their call forward no-answer timer to be longer than other people. By assigning a different class of service, you can also assign their forward no answer timer to be longer. There are a total of 23 timers which can be assigned by class of service. WebPro Pull Down Menus for F Key/DSS Key Programming In order to make key programming easier, a pull down menu has been added to WebPro. When assigning a function key you can choose the key using the pull down menu. A roll-over help section provides valuable information while you are programming the key or the additional data. WebPro Data Save Progress Indicator WebPro now provides a data save progress indicator. You will no longer have to guess when the data save is completed.

3 Page 3 of 7 Speaker Volume Retain Option Like the handset, you can now program an Aspire telephone to keep the last volume setting used for the speakerphone. Currently, the volume resets to the default level. Multiple ACD Delay Message Sources Previous software did not allow ACD delay message from a centralized voice mail and provided ACD first and second delayed messages from a single source only. You could not mix message sources. Now you can use different sources for the first or second delay messages. Sources can include inskin Voice Mail, Centralized Voice Mail, VRS or PGDAD unit. Remote Conference The Remote Conference feature enhances the existing Conference feature by allowing outside parties to dial a Remote Conference pilot number and a Conference Group number to connect to a Conference call. Passwords are required to enter into a conference and a VRS is also required for the prompts played while using this feature. Both Aspire and Aspire S can use this feature but because the VRS is required, IntraMail can not be used. CTI First Party Tapi (Tapi 1.x) Over LAN With Release 6.00 software, you can now provide first party Tapi (1.x) without installing a CTA or CTU at the telephone located near the PC. The Tapi commands are sent over the customer s LAN. A new driver (CTE) is required for this feature. In addition, new CTU, CTA and Tapi 2 drivers are available. This feature allows you to provide Tapi control for IP Keysets or IP Softphones. This feature requires a license activation code for each Tapi 1 connection needed. The license codes are offered as a single license or in groups of 5. A maximum of 32 licenses per Aspire or 24 per Aspire S can be activated. The CTA or CTU may still be used, so if more than 32 licenses are needed you will need the modules. The new drivers are all version (V4.x) and are available for download from the ws1.necii.com website. When you place an order you will receive a document with a number, website and instructions you will use to activate the licenses. You will log onto the license server, input the requested information and will receive the license activation key. Call Forward Using Centrex Lines When using Centrex lines you can set your phone to call forward off premises over the Centrex lines. Previously this operation required two trunks. Now, when your phone is forwarded off-premise, the incoming call to your phone will

4 Page 4 of 7 cause the system to flash the Centrex trunk and dial the forwarding number. The call no longer appears on the Aspire. SMDR Enhancements An option has been added for the tracking of calls transferred to stations which are set for call forward off-premise. Previous software outputted the transferring station number on the SMDR record. Now you can set up the system to output either the transferring station (existing) or the station which is call forwarded. The dialed number/cli field has been expanded to 20 characters. An option has been added to output the first 20 or last 20 characters. A second change gives an option of printing either the DID/DNIS number or both trunk number and DID/DNIS number in the field. VRS Enhancement The function of the VRS has been enhanced. When the system is set up to use VRS greetings for incoming trunks, the system now provides an option for the caller to hear another message when no answer or a busy signal is received at the dialed extension. The caller would then be able to call the operator, leave a message, dial another extension, or transfer to a ring group. Centralized Voice Mail / inskin Support Aspire can now support two voice mails on a system, one local and one for centralized. The main intention for this feature is to provide DTMF protocol to external fax servers. QSIG Networking Aspire now supports some of the QSIG networking functionality using PRI lines. QSIG is a standard networking protocol which allows systems of various manufacturers to be networked together. Feature transparency will vary based on the manufacturer s implementation of QSIG. Aspire can be an originating or termination node but does not support being a transit node in a QSIG network. End User License Agreement (EULA) From Release 6.00 forward, an end user license agreement will be included in all CPUs and Aspire S systems shipped with Release 6.00 or higher software. Before installation, the agreement must be given to the end user and accepted by them. Additionally, when downloading Release 6.00 or higher from our web

( NECII ) grants the end-user ( You ) the right to use the software preinstalled on the Aspire you acquired ( Product ) pursuant to the following terms and conditions ( Agreement ). 1. TERMS (1) This Agreement is effective upon usage of the Product and shall remain in force until terminated. (2) You may terminate it voluntarily at any time by written notice as indicated in Section 9. (3) NECII may terminate this Agreement without notice upon your failure to abide by this Agreement. (4) All provisions of this Agreement relating to disclaimers of warranties, limitation of liability, remedies, or damage, and NECII or its supplier's proprietary rights shall survive termination. 2. LICENSE NECII grants you a nonexclusive and limited license to use the software solely on the Product which is provided to you as preinstalled in the Product ( Software ). 3. RESTRICTIONS (1) You may not rent or lease the Software, but you may transfer the Product, the Software in its entirety and accompanying documentation on a permanent basis, provided that you retain no copies of the Software and the recipient agrees to be bound by all of the terms and conditions of this Agreement. (2) You agree not to modify, alter, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Software. (3) You may not copy the Software. (4) You may not use the Software other than in connection with the Product. (5) You will not export or re-export the Software without the appropriate United States or foreign government licenses. 4. TITLE Title to and ownership of the Software, related documentation and any reproduction thereof shall remain with NECII and its suppliers and the trademarks are the property of such trademark owners. This Agreement does not grant you any right (by license, ownership or otherwise) in or to patents, copyrights, trade secrets, trade names, trademarks or any other intellectual property right with respect to the Software. 5. COPYRIGHT THE SOFTWARE IS COPYRIGHTED AND, EXCEPT ASPERMITTED BY THIS AGREEMENT, Y O U M A Y N O T DUPLICATE THE SOFTWARE OR DISCLOSE IT TO ANY OTHER PARTY. 6. LIMITED WARRANTY YOU AGREE THAT THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED AND LICENSED "AS IS." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NECII AND ITS SUPPLIERS DISCLAIM ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT, WITH REGARD TO THE SOFTWARE. YOU BEAR THE ENTIRE RISK RELATING TO THE QUALITY OF THE SOFTWARE AND, IF THE SOFTWARE PROVES TO HAVE ANY DEFECTS, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ANY NECESSARY SERVICING OR REPAIRS. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THAT THE ABOVE EXTENSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIAL LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. 7. BECAUSE SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. 8. OTHERS (1) This Agreement shall be construed and interpreted according to the laws of Connecticut. (2) The Software is a commercial item as that term is defined in 48 C.F.R , consisting of commercial computer software and commercial computer software documentation as such terms are used in 48 C.F.R Consistent with 48 C.F.R and 48 C.F.R through , NECII provides the Software to U.S. Government End Users only pursuant to the terms and conditions therein. 9.
