10 Reference Project Network: latency and bandwidth Latency Network latency is an expression of how much 3me it takes for a packet of data to get from one designated point to another. In some environments (for example, AT&T), latency is measured by sending a packet that is returned to the sender; the round-trip 3me is considered the latency. Ideally, latency is as close to zero as possible. What does this mean for your cloud project? How many Bandwidth and latency do I need for my project? Test it, measure it und rate it Bandwidth n computer networks, bandwidth is used as a synonym for data transfer rate, the amount of data that can be carried from one point to another in a given 3me period (usually a second). Network bandwidth is usually expressed in bits per second (bps); modern networks typically have speeds measured in the millions of bits per second (megabits per second, or Mbps) or billions of bits per second (gigabits per second, or Gbps).
