4 1 Introduction SyxthSense Cloud Ready Graphics Series Controllers are the most powerful Sedona controllers in the market. The SDC-xG controllers are fully programmable controllers with flexible BACnet (from Q1 2014), Modbus and SOX networking. It has been developed based on the open Sedona Framework (part of Tridium Niagara framework). The controllers are highly flexible to practically any applications and are programmed through graphical Workbench interface, or using open source Sedona programming tools (e.g. CPT Tools). It is equipped with two 32-bit Processors, the first in the Automation industry, with an ARM9 200 MHz Samsung processor, an ARM M3 Cortex for the I/O management and A-D processing, and also with a Linux 2.6 OS for premium performance. The Graphics Series have a capability to serve up HTML5 Graphics pages that are stored on the Micro SD card. The graphics are programmed using CPT Tool software that allows Sedona programming objects to be linked to the HTML5 graphics. Both SDC-20G and SDC-32G controllers are using the same hardware configurations in term of processor, memory and etc. and vary in terms of the input and outputs. 6 3 Wiring and Controller Installation 1. Power Supply Details Both AC and DC can be used with Graphics Series controller. Refer to electrical specification for the working range. In order to avoid damage on the controller input/output devices and RS485 connection, use individual power supply for each controller. If a common power supply is used, make sure controller power supplies are connected with the same polarity (SDC controllers use half-wave rectifying circuit). 7 2. SDC-20G Controller Wiring Details and LED Indication The diagram below illustrates the overall wiring details of the SDC-20G controller. SDC-20G CONTROLLER WIRING TERMINAL DETAILS LED Operation The SDC-20G controller has 8 status LEDs which are invisible on the front cover of the controller. LED STS ERR DO1, DO2 TX1, RX1 TX2, RX2 Function Status Indication. STS is used to indicate the heartbeat of the Microcontroller. The STS LED will blink at 1-second interval in normal operation condition. Error Indication. ERR is to indicate whenever there is communication errors. Individual Digital Output Indication RS485 COM Port 1 Status Indication. TXRX is used to indicate when there are communication activities in Port 1, (Transmitting or Receiving) on the communication port. RS485 COM Port 2 Status Indication. 8 3. SDC-32G Controller Wiring Details and LED Indication The diagram below illustrates the overall wiring details of the SDC-32G controller. SDC-32G CONTROLLER WIRING DETAILS LED Operation The SDC-32G controller has 14 status LEDs which are invisible on the front cover of the controller. LED STS ERR DO1, DO2, DO3, DO4, DO5, DO6, DO7, DO8 TX1, RX1 TX2, RX2 Function Status Indication. STS is used to indicate the heartbeat of the Microcontroller. 9 4. Jumper Settings (Input and Output Configuration) The SDC-20G and SDC032G controllers have number of configuration jumpers located under the cover. Remove the cover to access the jumpers. The jumpers are used to configure the Input and Output modes, to configure the Watchdog Operation and to set the RS-485 terminating resistor. Refer to the below images for further information. 10 5. Universal Input Wiring SDC Graphics series has non-isolated universal inputs. The universal input supports three type of analog signal i.e. resistance, voltage and current sensors and digital/pulse input mode via hardware jumpers and internal registers. Voltage Mode: 0-10V DC (+/-0.005V) Current Mode: 0-20mA Resistance Mode: 0 Ohms to 30 kohms (+/-10 Ohm), 0 Ohms to 10 kohms (+/-5 Ohm), 0 to 1500 kohms (+/-1 Ohm) Digital Input Mode: Voltage Free Contact Enquiries: T: F: SDC-xG Graphics Series Configuration Manual 10

11 Once the input has been set to the correct type using the jumpers, in the application programming us the Universal Input object and select the appropriate type. The SDCxG controllers can support most resistive sensor types. If temperature measurement is required, use the resistance setting and link the UI object to Sensor object from the syxthhvac kit. easyiosensor kit provides additional sensor object types. SyxthSense provides resistive sensors to match all resistance curves. Normally with SDC controllers use NTC10K range sensors such as ECO range (TER-NTC10, TEW-NTC10, TED-NTC10, TEO-NTC10, TESM- NTC10, TEF-NTC-10). 12 6. Universal Outputs SDC-20G series have 6 Universal Output connections and SDC-32G 8 Universal Output connections. Each Universal Output can be configured to drive voltage or current output or digital output via hardware jumper setting and internal register settings. The working range for voltage is 0..10V, for the current either 0..20mA or 4..20mA. For current transmitter, the circuit able to drive load impedance up to 800 ohm which is ideal for long wire connection (up to 500 meter wire length). For digital output it can only support 24VDC and max load is 200mA. AC power source is not allowed. It will damage the controller. Once the input has been set to the correct type, further settings are available during the application programming. Please refer to UO/DO Object section to how to configure the output type. 13 In order to use Universal Digital Output use the DO object from the easyiofg kit. 14 7. Digital Outputs The SDC-20G and SDC-32G controllers have 2 and 8 digital 24VAC outputs, respectively. The digital outputs are volt-free 24Vac relays with the maximum load of 0.5A (maximum voltage 125VAC). The wiring diagram below illustrates the typical connection. In the application programming, use the DO object to link the physical digital output to the application logic. 8. RS485 Connection Modbus and BACnet RS485 connection must be terminated at both ends with termination resistor, typically 120 Ohms. It is recommended to use shielded twisted pair wire (STP) for the wiring, such as SyxthSense SS-CAB-2402 Modbus Communication Cable. For more information please refer to /modbus-4-core-24awg-lshf-cable,-100m-/ The Graphics series comes with a build in 120Ohm resistor. To enable this simply change the jumper setting to ON position. Refer to Jumper Setting section for further details. Lightning protection circuit is highly recommended to be installed at one end of the wiring. The controller should be wired in daisy chain network topology as shown as image below. If wire branch can be avoided, keep it as short as possible, and never connect more than one device to the wire branch(it is not recommended). NOTE: Be careful if single power supply is used for all connected RS485 device, make sure all devices are having the same ground connection. Make sure you are connecting the same wire for the same terminal position, all H terminals connected to the same wire. Real-Time Clock Power Fail Backup The controller has built-in real-time clock for the time and holiday schedule. The real-time clock is powered by the SuperCap in case of the power failure. 16 4 Controller Application Programming The SDC Sedona controllers are configured using Sedona Framework libraries and objects known as kits. The configuration is done using Niagara AX Workbench platform (Tridium AX Workbench, Honeywell AX Coach, or Trend AX TONN), Sedona Workbench (dedicated for Sedona Framework products) or Online Tools CPT tool. The CPT tool allows also the HTML5 graphics programming of the SDC-xG Graphics Series Sedona controllers. The applications are developed graphically by linking application objects together. The image below illustrates the example of the application logic. The objects that are used to create the application come from application libraries also know as kits. From know on in this document these are called as kits. SyxthSense offers wide range of kits for typical application programming of the controllers. The Sedona Kits manual describes the details of the kits and how they can used effectively in the applications. The Sedona Framework allows new kits to be installed through the Workbench software (or through CPT tool if used). As default the SDC controller come with the factory default kits (application libraries) installed. The controller uses dynamic memory allocation allowing effective use of the controller memory. Additional kits (application libraries) can be installed as and when required. E.g. if the application requires Psychometric Chart functionality this can be added to the system by installing Energy kit. The SDC controller applications can be programmed using basic objects such as mathematical objects, logic objects etc. However kits such as syxthhvacfg include advanced objects such as pumpchangeover logic and boilersequencing; these allow the HVAC application to be produced fast and effectively. Connecting Workbench to SDC-xG Controllers The Workbench/CPT tool is connected to the controller via a switch (such as SyxthSense SSIES-5P-24V) or directly from the PC using a cross-over cable. In order to communicate to the controller it is required that both the PC and SDC-30 are in the same computer network (first three segements of the IP address are the same). As default the SDC-xG Graphics Series controller IP address is : The default username is Admin. In order to connect PC (and Workbench), you will need to change the computer IP address through TCP/IP properties to x when x is but not 11. Set the computer subnet to To connect the workbench to the controller, in the Workbench select File/Open/Open Sedona(sox). Now enter the IP address of the SDC controller. Do not change the Port number. The default Username is admin and leave the Password field <empty>. Click OK to connect to the controller. 18 Login Details SyxthSense SDC-20G/32G Series log in details are as below. Sedona Login Username Password : admin : <no password> FTP client Webuser Login This login allows user to change the web files. Username : webuser Password : FTP client Sdcard Login This login allows user to upgrade firmware Username : sdcard Password : Default IP address : Default Subnet : Default Gateway : Note : In order to login, the host PC (laptop) has to be in the same subnet. Example: IP address : Subnet : Changing the Controller IP Address By default the SyxthSense SDC-xG series controller IP address is Changing the IP address can only be done via Sedona workbench or via the CPT Tool. 19 Step 2 Go into the property sheet of the IP object. Current IP address that is assign to the controller New IP address field. Keyin the requires IP address in these fields. Make sure the IP address and subnet is correct before saving. Step 3 Save the sedona apps and cycle power. 20 12. Resetting the Sedona Application to the Factory Defaults Sometimes it may be required to load the factory defaults on the SDC-xG controllers (e.g. if the SDC-30 controller application has been accidentally loaded to the SDC-xG g Graphics Series controllers. At the moment, there are 2 ways to restore the sedona apps for SDC-20G/32G controllers. Restore Factory Settings. function is done with just the by pressing the Service button while the controller is booting up. A restore to factory settings will do the following ; 1. Restore the IP address to the default which is Clear the Sedona application in the Sedona VM back to default (default app is an empty app) 3. A default Sedona apps default login is admin, <no password>. Follow the steps below to restore to factory settings. Step 1 Make sure you backup the Sedona apps if you have connection to the SDC-20G/32G. Step 2 Cycle power and within 5 seconds press and HOLD down the service button until the Error LED starts to flash. This process will take approximately 10 seconds before the error Led start to blink Step 3 Cycle the power of the controller again and you will regain connection to the Sedona VM with the default IP address and also default username and password. Note : A SDC-30 sedona apps CANNOT be loaded into the SDC-20G/32G controllers as the sedona apps from a SDC-30 backup is hardware dependent. Doing so will corrupt the SDC-20G/32G sedona VM and the controller will keep rebooting the sedona VM, hence the controller is not accessible via Sedona Workbench. If the rebooting cycle occurs, the status LED will blinks for fast for a few times then light up steady for approx 10 seconds.
