1 Installation Instructions Model LPB Local Page Board ( / S24235-B5-A2) INTRODUCTION The LPB (Local Page Board) is used to connect the alarm microphone, mounted in the LVM (Live Voice Microphone), and the voice system internal telephone system. The LPB converts the two analog input signals into the system's internal digital format. Additionally the LPB provides one analog output to connect the monitor speaker, mounted in the LVM. This output signal is 1 of the 8 voice internal audio channels selectable at the voice control panel. The microphone signal wiring between LVM and LPB is supervised. The microphone audio input of the LPB is not transformer isolated (each LVM microphone output is transformer isolated). The audio input from the telephone riser is transformer isolated. Each of the three audio channels can be configured independently via the Zeus tool. Each audio channel can be controlled automatically via the system logic, dependant on its individual configuration or manually by using the voice control panel During the initial power-up condition, each of the three audio channels are shut off. The inputs are supervised for presence of input signal in the active state. The LPB provides sampling rates from 12kHz to 48kHz and resolution from 8bit to 16bit separately for each audio channel. Optionally, the digital audio data can be compressed/de-compressed separately for each input and output. Reduction of sampling rate and resolution together with data compression is only needed in applications with distributed system architecture where D- NET (external digital bus to connect voice transponders) is needed. Centralized voice systems with only one single transponder (no D-NET) will always have the maximum audio quality: 48kHz sampling rate, 16bit resolution and no data compression. The LPB is a plug-on-board to the DAC-NET. The LPB indicates its status by diagnostic LEDs. Controls and Indicators The LPB has no front panel. It uses the front panel of the DAC-NET. It contains the following: One RESET switch Eight diagnostic LEDs to indicate the operation of the card as shown in Figure 1 The reset switch is located on the top of the front panel. Pushing the reset switch re-initializes the LPB operation. 2

3 NAME COLOR NORMAL STATE The diagnostic LEDs are placed under the reset switch. Their function is defined as follows: WHEN ILLUMINATED POWER green ON indicates that power for the LPB is applied to the card LPB FAIL yellow OFF indicates a general trouble at LPB failure on LPB CAN FAIL yellow OFF indicates that the CAN communication has terminated and the card operates in degrade mode ASI FAIL yellow OFF indicates that the ASI communication has stopped and the card operates in degrade mode Microphone Active green OFF indicates that the microphone audio input is active Microphone Trouble yellow OFF indicates that the LPB has detected a trouble on the microphone input Phone Active green OFF indicates that the telephone audio input is active Speaker Active green OFF indicates that the speaker audio output is active ACTION IN OFF NORMAL STATE failure on LPB, PSC, DAC,- NET CC5, backplane or wiring failure on LPB, DAC-NET, CC5, backplane or other CAN Cards failure on LPB, DAC-NET, CC5, backplane or other ASI Cards Paging audio is available to the system Microphone input 1, open, short or no signal Telephone audio is available to the system. Speaker plays the selected audio channel. WIRING Remove ELECTRICAL POWER prior to working on equipment. The field wiring of the LPB is connected to the terminal blocks of the PSC-12. EOL attachment The Analog Audio Bus includes three audio signals (LVM microphone, LVM monitor speaker, FMT Phone). The LPB supervises the microphone signal wiring to the LVM. The supervision requires an EOL resistor 3K3. The EOL is set with P7 at the LVM. If one LVM is mounted the jumper P7 must be set in position 1 2. If more than one LVM is mounted the Jumper P7 of the last LVM must be set in position 1 2. The Jumper P7 of the other LVMs must be set in position 2 3. 4 INSTALLATION The LPB is a Plug-on-board to a DAC-NET. The LPB is delivered with the spacers mounted on the LPB, four Panhead screws M3 x 6 and 4 washers 3.2mm to mount the LPB on the DAC-NET. The LPB and DAC-NET are assembled in such a way that the component sides face each other. The spacers of the LPB must be fit into with the holes on the DAC-NET. To install the LPB, hold it at an angle to the DAC-NET with the LEDs pointing towards the front panel of the DAC-NET. LPB DAC-NET Figure 2: Installing the LPB Rotate the LPB towards the DAC-NET while ensuring that the pins of the LPB align with the sockets on the DAC-NET. DO NOT FORCE the LPB card. 5 Secure the LPB on the DAC-NET`s solder side with four screws. Figure 4: Securing the LPB Installation of the DAC-NET with LPB in CC-5/CC-2 Figure 5: Installing the DAC-NET with the LPB Insert the DAC-NET card with the LPB on it into the card guides rightside up (lettering on the front panel is legible). Slide the card in until the card edge connectors contact the receptacles on the motherboard. Verify that the DIN connectors of the card and the cardcage aligned properly. The card can only plug in one direction to the card cage, if it does not align, DO NOT FORCE the card. Place thumbs on the front panel adjacent to the captive screws and gently apply even pressure on the card until the connectors seat in the receptacles on the motherboard. Secure with the captive screws. Power up the system and verify that the LPB power LED turns ON. 5
