1 Installation Instructions Model FMT Fireman s Master Telephone ITRODUCTI The Model FMT Fireman s Master Telephone from Siemens Industry, Inc. provides firefighters with an emergency telephone system for communication with remote locations. The FMT is located in a FireFinder-XLS/Desigo Fire Safety Modular/Cerberus PRO Modular enclosure and includes a handset for the operator of the telephone system. In FireFinder-XLS/Desigo Fire Safety Modular/Cerberus PRO Modular systems with multiple FMT Fireman s Master Telephones, one FMT is configured as the primary FMT and up to Figure FMT Fireman s four secondary FMT modules may be connected. The telephone Telephone Module riser is supervised by the primary FMT with an EOL resistor installed at the end of the telephone riser (See Figure ) for a Class B riser. The FMT* can be optionally used in conjunction with the FMT-A-ADPT module, P/ -8, to be wired as a Class A riser (See Figure ). *Only FMTs marked Class A (See Figure ) support Class A risers. OPERATI Controls and Indicators The back panel of the FMT contains four LEDs, two CA address switches and one six-position jumper header, J, as shown in Figure. Factory released FMTs are configured as primary, with all five jumpers installed. The function of the LEDs are defined as follows: PWR (Power) (Green) ormally. When illuminated, indicates that power for the FMT is applied to the module. CPU (Card Fail) (Yellow) ormally. When illuminated, indicates that the card microprocessor has failed. CA (CA Fail) (Yellow) ormally. When illuminated, indicates that the CA communication with the FMT has terminated. RSR (Riser Fail) (Yellow) ormally. When illuminated, indicates that the riser between the FMT and the TZC-8B is faulted. PRE-ISTALLATI P/ -- Set the board address for the FMT using both of the ten-position rotary switches located on the back of the board (See Figure ). Each of these addresses must be a sub-address of the DAC-ET and must be the same as the addresses assigned in the Zeus Programming Tool. Building Tec echnologies Division

2 Factory released FMTs are configured as primary FMTs with five J jumpers installed. To configure an FMT as secondary, remove all five J jumpers. Refer to Figure. Select the location of the FMT. It can be mounted on either side of the PMI/PMI-/PMI- (XLS), FCM-U (Desigo Fire Safety Modular), FCM-U (Cerberus PRO Modular), over the two mounting studs in the desired location. Secure the FMT to the inner door with the two nuts provided. (Refer to Figure.) IER DOOR PMI/PMI-/PMI- (XLS), FCM-U (DESIGO FIRE SAFETY MODULAR), FCM-U (CERBERUS PRO MODULAR) When selecting the location to mount the FMT, keep in mind that no modules or power supplies/extenders can be installed in the space on the CAB-MP directly behind the FMT. FMT A primary Class A FMT can not be installed in a REMBOX. CA cable CCL (optional), a inch long wire cable, P/ -, or CA cable, P/ -, an 8 inch long wire cable connects the FMT to the next CA module or to P on the CC-/CC-. If there is no LVM in the configuration, connect the audio cable to P on the CC-/CC-, or to JP on the PMI/PMI-/PMI- (XLS), FCM-U (Desigo Fire Safety Modular), FCM-U (Cerberus PRO Modular). (Refer to Figure.) *FMT modules marked Class A (See Figure ) must use the wire version of this cable. Use of the wire cable will result in an erroneous ground fault indication on the PSC-. Make sure that all cables seat fully into their connectors. Secure the cable in the back box using cable ties and the tie down points in the enclosure. The cable must have sufficient slack to allow the inner door to open fully without putting stress on the cable. P/ --

(To power up, connect the AC first, then the battery.) Each FMT module is a node in the CA bus. Each FMT connects through the CC-/CC- CA bus via a plug-in cable to the DAC-ET. Up to CA modules, in any combination, can be connected to the CA bus of each DAC-ET. Each FMT module is shipped with one FMT-CABLE, P/ -. Cable connections are shown in the following table and in Figure.
